I think they're still going to live on, possibly with the same name. It's just that people aren't happy with the way they divide the forum so threads on the band will still be allowed, just not directed to be in the official thread. The official threads will still continue I think.
That's what I understood of the situation anyway. |
I think there wil be the need to remove the Official sign from threads though, to allow for multiple threads to be started again.
Plus a new name would be a good thing though. |
What about...: "Toolshed"?
|
Copyright infringement++
But sound sgood. Lets be the first thread to be sued. |
Lets be honest here, Do we really give a fuc.k about Toolshed.net?
Its just full of meaningless info on top of some bios on Tool. |
100 pages... clearvision - 3rd biggets postwhore in the tool thread :)
New name eh? It has to have some reference to tool so trivial lyricy type names are out :( I was thinking 'The patients' We've all been so patient for this dam album ;) |
Why not just
The Tool Thread. With a period of course, for finality. |
Indeed.
|
Why not just
The Tool Thread. With a period of course, for finality.
The period must stay, it's like a part of this threads identity. |
The Non-Official Tool Thread.
How about that? |
The Non-Official Tool Thread.
How about that?
Non official just says crappy for me. Unauthorised has a similar effect. I think The Tool Thread seems a good choice. ALthough we could steal The Tool Collective and wait for the law suits |
i don't think tool or site owners would sue, but lawyers may have a problem. what about some lyrical content like "ride the spiral" or something. that one sucked but maybe someone can use that idea and come up with something good.
special thanks to G_Mac07 for the kudos. But really it's thanks to everyone for all there great input. |
I think just "Tool." or "The Tool Thread." would be best because it is clear what it is and has an obvious name.
|
Just gotta say, Congrats on reaching 100 pages worth of awesome Tool info and discussion. To:
Adam Jones is GOD Fast Fingers SonorKen Kage The Joz JamesCelland Otherside clearvision and all the other regular posters in this thread. Good Job :thumb:
As one of the resident Toolophiles I try to do my part :thumb: Why don't we call it "The Shed of Tool"? No infringment to worry about there, plus it's our place of Tool...plus, I dunno, it sounds cool? |
I think it has to be something good, as everyone else will be spurting out tool threads like no tommorrow when their album is out, so having a thread like this where well known intelligent posters go will be somewhat of a safehaven
|
Yeh, that sounds ok.
/hopes one day my name will be thre |
How about "The Eon Blue Apocalypse"?
|
What about "The Undertow"
|
How about "The Eon Blue Apocalypse"?
I like that, but it also reminds me of the numerous members named "Eon Blue Apocalypse" or likewise, who seem to only live in the Pit. |
I still like my suggestion.
I might be a little biased though :p |
So today I bought Lateralus at Borders. I can't beleive I didn't buy it before. It's basically my first listening of any Tool material. Expect to see me posting in here some now. :thumb: *Jams out to Reflection*
|
Pick up aenema its insane.
|
May I suggest you also get Aenima, if it's not going to rape your wallet too much :p Those two albums are amazing.
EDIT: beaten |
The reason I actually ended up getting Lateralus is because I had a coupon for 25% off one item, and both Lateralus and Aenima were 19 bucks, but I decided to get Lateralus. I wouldn't have bought it if I didn't have the coupon. 19 dollars for a CD is perposterous.
|
If you read the article you start to put the puzzle together.
http://www.subversiveelement.com/Planet_X.html Also this is just something weird I found....it mentions toolshed.net http://www.googlism.com/when_is/p/planet_x/ When you really think about it, even the stuff the dude from Nasa says on Lateralus could add up.
Has anybody else read this stuff? I found it didn't really establish any connection with Tool. If anyone found any relevance in these articles, would they care to explain. And apparently, planet x would have passed by Earth in 2003, possibly killing all of us... |

 CD prices are getting out of hand, I hardly ever buy CDs from a store anymore, I've switched to Amazon and if not there then Best Buy. |

i find it pretty much irrelevant to tool....could some one please explain how it all ties togeather. thanks :thumb: |
Why dont you just buy it used? You could probably get one in great condition for $5 at ebay. I dont really understand buying cds retail (unless its a brand new release you cant get anywhere else).
sorry, just my pointless rant... |
I was on another forum and someone said their was a clip to "L.K." on a site. I asked for the link so if he isnt bull****, then I'll post it here.

It ties into Lateralus and the "secret order". Just listen to the lyrics and read I think you might understand if you have a open mind. If not well then you dont see it. |
For the first time in my life I understand something, but it is too complicated to explain to others.
|
It ties into Lateralus and the "secret order". Just listen to the lyrics and read I think you might understand if you have a open mind. If not well then you dont see it.
After reading for a bit, I assumed that must have been what you were getting at. Unfortunately for me, I still didn't see any strong connection with Lateralus. |
I first heard Tool when someone lent me Aenima. I despised it, and Undertow, for ages, I forget why, they just didn't excite me at all. And then I read some of their lyrics, and suddenly they blew my mind every time I heard them.
I'm going to theorise on one song shortly, and then a more comprehensive one. 1. Prison Sex Film Clip Basically, I think the video clip is a perfect interpretation, to me this song is about over-protection. The big lanky chap takes care of the little guy and loves him to death so much that he wants to be like him. So he takes off that eye-piece thingy for himself. Here's a big theory: I think it's a continuous cycle. The little dude did the same to the caterpillar fella (he used to be a skinny prick), reducing him to a little worm. That's why he's kept in a drawer. So he was obsessed so became completely like him, down to the face. Then another robotic prick comes along and takes over HIS life and becomes like him. This is supported by lines like "your breathing so I guess you're still alive." An even more radical theory: The whole thing is an experiment. Hence the Prison Sex, and the doll-like nature of the little guys and the robotic nature of the lanky guys. Some guy has created this guys and observing a cycle, a food chain if you will. That's called being over-analytical, people. 2. 4 Degrees This song probably hasn't been discussed, since it's not very popular, but it's my third fave Tool tune so I'm going to go into the lyrics. Get up Get up now Get up Get up now Get up Get up now Get up Get up now Along with Maynard's voice, this part is very forced, this is something positive for the subject, but he really really wants it to happen. Free yourself From yourself Free yourself From yourself Already we establish that whatever is going to happen, the subject is very reluctant about it. Locked up inside you Like the calm beneath castles A cavern of treasures No one has been to Maynard really loves the person, hence the "calm beneath the castles" and "cavern of treasures". I get the feeling that he's telling the subject that he/she has a great gift locked up inside it, a talent. Let's go digging Let's go digging Bring it out and Take it back in Like most lyrics in the song, this passage has a sexual allure to it, like he's trying to seduce someone. That was my first impression of the song, but I know Maynard would never write about that, so I figured it means something more, that's why I'm doing this. So, the "let's go digging" tells us that this is a talent that Maynard can help him/her with. The "bring it out and take it back in" suggests that this is something that if he/she does this, they will be able to benefit and learn from it, or enjoy it greatly. Painting, perhaps? You won't do what you'd like to do Lay back and let me show you another way WWOOOH! Sorry, I'm listening to the piano-like start of Lateralus. Now, this affirms the subject's reluctancy. The second line suggests that Maynard has seen potential, and wants the subject to listen to his suggestions to improve upon it. I'll kill what you want me to Take what's left and eat it Take all or nothing Life's just too short to push it away This is your chance to do something, this is a golden opportunity, get out of your hole and spread your wings. Maynard can't STAND to see him/her down in the dumps, hence the bribing. The "take what's left and eat it" means he'll do ANYTHING. Knock me down I'll just come back running Knock you down It won't be long now Again, Maynard is desperate. The "knock you down, it won't be long now" suggests that this may involve pain, there's risks. All the way in All the way in All the way in All the way in Way in We can't be half-assed about this, we need to give it all we've got. Take it all Take it all higher Four degrees now Four degrees warmer The subject is beginning to warm up to the idea, the situation is getting better. Give in now Give in now Let me in That's goooood, let's continue, we're too far to quit. You'll like this This brings us higher You'll like this It brings us closer than Dying and Cancer and Crying Good choice, it'll be worth all of the pain. The person has subdued/surrendered. --- Now, when I go back over all of this, I realise that this song is obviously about not one person, but the human race. Don't be afraid to let loose and unleash your talents upon the world, you've got nothing to lose. This will make you comfortable and make you feel like a significant portion of Earth's population (it brings us closer then dying and cancer and crying). Wooh. Hopefully I've done something for someone out there (and I hope someone could be bothered reading that!). |
i love 4 degrees. i am currently learning it on guitar, but that solo is tricky, jones doesn't usually use four finger solos, so i'm having problems with that, but i love the intro and chorus.
Really, as I said above, I find this one-upmanship about who's the most proper form of tool fan a bit pointless...
i know i'm a cranky old bitch, but i'm so sick of reading these debates... SFK, is holy blood & the holy grail good? I'll have to check it out... I just started one of the other books on the tool reading list, the wasp factory - its fiction by Iain Banks, quite good...only near the start but so far i'd recommend it to all toolheads.. SFK, or anyone for that matter, have you read the Da Vinci Code? In yesty's paper there was an article that the publishers of holy blood are suing the publishers of Da Vinci code because of similar ideas. I haven't read either so I can't comment, but be interested to hear your opinions...
Sorry to bump an old post, has anyone read both of these books? I finally persuaded my mum to buy the da vinci code, I ate it up within 2 days and was always 2 steps ahead of the plot. Is the da vinci code mainly fiction, and the holy grail book delivers the 'truth' as it were. There is areference to holy grail in the da vinci code, i found the da vinci code fascinating, but would rather focus in on the rennes le chateau mystery that has gripped danny. If i buy holy grail will i be reading more-or-less whats in the da vinci code? without the plot line. Or is there another book i should maybe read? Opinions? I have read what is on Carey's site and would like to read up on this further :) thanks. |
What affect or guitar did adam use for the begining of 4 degrees?
|
What affect or guitar did adam use for the begining of 4 degrees?
We came to the conclusion some time ago that it was played on a sitar, or some other obscure stringed instrument. It was possibly played by MJK as well, as he plays some interesting instruments |
hey is it just me...but on the salival version of 3rd eye..when it says in..out..in..out..in..out im pretty sure it just says in..in..in..in
