Dude, go out and get vocal lessons RIGHT NOW. Your voice is PERFECT for this kind of stuff, and if you could just get it trained for intonation and projection, it'll kick ***. You have a very pleasent timbre to your voice but it's hampered by the improper intonation on the higher notes and also the shyness with which you sing. I'm serious, man. If you get that voice into shape, it'll rock.

And the acoustic sounds great. Very cleanly played. I'm quite impressed, my friend. :thumb:

Haha, I didnt say it was a bad thing.I love the fact that music is such a big part of my life.I'd go crazy without it.I drive like an ******* when I dont have a cd in my cd player.

I plan to just put some headphones on and start working, it passes by way quicker.

I can't play the intro riff of The Drapery Falls.My short "sausage link" fingers wont allow that to go down.

We should do what they are doing in the Metallica thread and do an MX cover of an Opeth track.

I say we all cover Black rose immortal. I'm sure we can get it all down in a few days. :D

It's all in the lungs. To get deeper, longer growels, you need to expand them. Jog a lot.

I just practiced alot when it came to growls someone told me to sing with your stomach not with your throat (never knew what it really meant) but for some reason when I kept telling myself that I got a whole lot better.

yes singing is done with the diaphragm around the stomach area.

it's important on how you open your mouth when you sing also.

Advent, now.

I have a really nice growl, but I can go only for a little while. My friend can go longer but his isn't as good. If you give me about 3 or 4 days I can do a whole song.

Note: I can't do clean vocals, I'm really monotone that way.

guess what people. i can growl and do clean vocals half decent. My guitar playing is up to the mark too:) now................if only i had some recording equipment:(

Intro Acoustic: person 1
Intro Distortion: person 2
Intro Lead: person 3
Intro drums: person 4
Intro bass: person 5
Verse Acoustic A: person 6
Verse Acoustic B: person 7
etc...etc...

Or we could select several people for one song (drapery falls) then several other person for another song and do multiple covers.

Wow, thanks for the compliments..!.. And the critiques hehe, I'm getting vocal lessons as soon as I can afford them. Plus I'm doing vocal excersizes as often as I have the time.. Wich isn't often enough.

And I like how you both thought the guitar part was very clean, when it wasn't at all, I just drenched it in reverb so you couldn't hear the mistakes :p

I'll do some growls, I'll try and put up some clips of me tomorrow if I can figure out how to host ****. Also, I'd offer to mix everything if I had internet that wasn't 56k. : (

Right idea, just try forcing more from your gut, it'll make it deeper, but a good voice for melodic death metal maybe :thumb:

I play bass, and I can play The Drapery Falls perfectly. I'll need to borrow a mic from a friend, and any advice on recording would be appreciated.

I was listening to Master's Apprentice and around 5:38 till 5:58 there guitars make an interesting sound. Is that guitar effects or some media they put in?

Let me interupt my Dream Theater to find out.
