Does anybody like Boston? They are the only good band named after a piece of geography IMO.
|
Kansas, biach. And Buffalo Springfield.
Yes I like what i've heard from Boston. |
In my opinion, Led Zeppelin was and still is the best band in the entire history of music. With Page's hard rocking, influental guitar skills, Plant's incredible lyrics and awesome singing/harmonica (haha) skills, Bonham's incredible drum skills (i think he was the best drummer ever), and Jones' incredible bassing/keyboarding/Mandolining (are any of those words?), they all composed the best music i have ever heard. I have been playing guitar for 2 years, and at first i wished i could sing. But now i realize i want to be a legendary guitarist (what 14 year old guitarist has a different dream). At first i wished i could sing but now i would rather be great at guitar than being ok at guitar and good at singing. But thats just my opinion. Classic Rock is the best. Clapton is also very influental to me. I could go on and on but i think im boring people.
Who's more important than the beatles? The beatles aren't the most mtalent, best sounding or most popular band ever but they are the most important.
At least I think they might me. Who else helped develop rock from blues and folk as much as them?
Just think about it. Think of all the influential jazz artists, blues artists etc... Then there's also people such as clapton who took the blues they heard brought over to britain and morphed it into their own sound. the list of super important bands so endless it's not even worth talking about. |

-Zac
Yep. I agree. Jones gets too little credit for his bass playing. The guy has tons of talent. |

lots of people can incorporate lots of styles into their music. Lots of people can play lots of styles. Many bands have influenced people from several genres. Like I said the beatles were very very good. But that doesn't make them the most important band ever. |

Yeah. Well basicly they were pop/rock. But they had a whole bunch of songs that are of different genres. Like that song with the sitar (spp) |

they had very bluesy songs, they had country songs, folky songs, psycadelic song |
yes but they are one of them
one of them i say,
And I would tend to agree. agree I say. |
And I would tend to agree.
agree I say.
kthxbye |
no they paved the way for the BEATLES.
hows that? the beatles came about when rock and roll was still young |
uhh nevermind. Delete your post.
|
uhh nevermind. Delete your post.
lol you dont want people to see what you typed? |
Yep. I agree. Jones gets too little credit for his bass playing. The guy has tons of talent.
EXACTLY! Finally. A fellow "agreer"......"agreeer"? agree-er......see im not very good with words.....who cares I'll be a rockstar right? -Zac |
Because it was wrong. I miss-read Rockandroll's post that you quoted.
|
EXACTLY! Finally. A fellow "agreer"......"agreeer"? agree-er......see im not very good with words.....who cares I'll be a rockstar right?
-Zac
Yep. Or at least a roadie or a sound tech for some rock star. |
they had very bluesy songs, they had country songs, folky songs, psycadelic song
what's your point? randy bachman did rock now he's doing some jazz. The doors did some psychadelic they did some blues they did some rock, they incorporated folk, they did some 3 minutes songs they did some 11 minute songs. Frank zappa pretty much made his own genre. the beatles aren't the only artist to cross genres, infact they're nowhere near the only to do it. |
Yep. Or at least a roadie or a sound tech for some rock star.
Haha. I can only hope, huh RnR? -Zac |
yes
You're a very subtle person, you know it RnR? -Zac |

Yes but they were one of the first really popular bands to do it. I think that's what he meant. |
and the beatles paved the way for them
Stop being so short-sighted. Somebody paved the way for the beatles to do what they did and somebody for them and so on and so forth. |
You're a very subtle person, you know it RnR?
-Zac
Yes |

your missing the point (more than likely on purpose) you are right no doubt about that but your bringing up examples that came after the beatles |
lots of people can incorporate lots of styles into their music. Lots of people can play lots of styles. Many bands have influenced people from several genres. Like I said the beatles were very very good. But that doesn't make them the most important band ever.
Who do you think is then? Because I understand that each has their opinion, I also think they are the most importan band in history. |
Janis Joplin rules. That's all I gotta say.

You're from Cleveland, therefore you are overexposed to Boston if you listen to 98.5. |
I love this. Spending quality time with the fathers of time in the classic rock thread :)
|
RnR you are one kuh-razy cool guy.

lol ya nothing better then discussing our influences |
Who do you think is then? Because I understand that each has their opinion, I also think they are the most importan band in history.
I don't beleive there is one. |
to be honest i'm a little drunk ;)
haha...well thats the first step to being a rock star. Do important things while stumbling around in a drunken stupor. Now just shoot up some heroin/drink and pass out. Hopefully if you accomplish the latter you can choke on your own vomit in your sleep. I wish i were a rock star. -Zac |
I don't beleive there is one.
Ok you can leave at that instead of arguing with our opinions. |
Okay, I'm not sure if this is exactly what you're both fighting about, but if it is about that The Beatles were the first genre mixing mainstream band. Then no.
Because what about Elvis? He mixed Gospel, Country, Blues, Rock, ect... That is if you're both discussing that. |
