Six Foot Revolver 04-14-2005 12:58 AM

Morning people
So apparently my first review on sputnik sucked :upset:

NP:Megadeth-High speed dirt

BoboTheRagingHobo 04-14-2005 01:00 AM

I am going to do some more providing I can find enough information on the bands since the information is rare...

I already knew all this about Vintersorg, it just needed time to type it up and such. Today was a perfect day, no work and nothing to do.

But I hopefully plan to get a few more done in the near future because some bands need some more attention then they are getting now.

Six Foot Revolver 04-14-2005 01:05 AM

I am not American though :)

Well, that was an own.

Bartender 04-14-2005 01:31 AM
Hell yes.

Do you have the new Fantomas yet?
Yeah actually, I just got it a week or so ago. It's pretty good. Do you?

There's no way he's going to see this, is there.
The best part of my day today was buying Mike Oldfield - Tubular Bells, Radiohead - Hail To The Theif, The Verve - Urban Hymns and Darkthrone - Transilvanian Hunger, and seeing the look on the face of the HMV clerk. I could tell he wanted to ask me if I knew which genre each of these bands were.
Nicely done. It is somewhat awesome when something like that happens.

I suppose it must also have been comforting to know that the HMV clerk knew how different each was.

What are you talking about foo'?

Anywhos I be off. See you all later

I wish I could get the Fantomas album in Cairns. I'll have to order it, I think.

Oh yes, the HMV guy must have looked at the genres when he swiped the CDs.

i'm sure everyone here can vouch for me when i say screaming and growling are two different things right?

Bartender 04-14-2005 01:53 AM

Ah, that would make sense. Cunning git.

I also ordered the new Fantomas album, from Amazon. Mainly because it was cheaper from there than I think I would ever find it in real life anyway :-/ Thankfully the packaging alone was worth it.

Riva 04-14-2005 01:56 AM

What's the packaging like?

Screaming and Growling are very different things, yes.

I just completed a three hour Mid-semester Chemistry exam, so Uni work can be DAMNED tonight.

Grey Incision 04-14-2005 01:57 AM
What's the packaging like?

Screaming and Growling are very different things, yes.
exactly, and when i ask how to growl, not scream, i get the answer, "growling and screaming are the same thing"

Permanent Solution 04-14-2005 01:58 AM

I don't know how to scream or growl so for all I know the technicalites could be the same. Can't help you out, though it would seem to be the case I have no idea.

Bartender 04-14-2005 02:05 AM
What's the packaging like?
Well, for no discernible reason, the album is dedicated to the month of April. It was released on the first of April, and the 30 tracks are all called just 04/01/05, 04/02/05, etc. The packaging is a ring-binder calendar; the CD is at one end, and the rest of the thing is slightly glossy pages, with some artwork on them for each day of the month, and a little note as to what 'official' days they are in various countries. So for example, today (the 14th, for me) is Youth Day in Angola, and International Moment of Laughter Day in the USA.

The music's pretty good, too.

Riva 04-14-2005 02:16 AM

Phil, I just practiced continually. I can go for about 3 minutes now, but I still need to work on tone and stamina. I find drinking some juice or water, and making sure your throat feels wet helps a lot.

Try song that mix growls with clean singing, in order to keep your vocal chords nice and warm. This helps to avoid injury.

Tensing the diaphragm is just as important in growling as in clean vocals.

BoboTheRagingHobo 04-14-2005 02:23 AM

Growling comes from the stomache and screams come from the throat.

Also another reason why they are gutteral vocals, because you are supposed to force all the sound from the bottom of your stomach to your mouth and not use your throat in the process in creating the sound.

Arucard 04-14-2005 02:44 AM

Bobo, Virtersorg = Genuis. Your thread rocked, and so does his bands. I love you!

Riva 04-14-2005 02:47 AM

Bartender, since you seem to have died on MSN, I shall probably be offline when you return. So speaks I.

I must admit, there a lot of good threads in R&M at the moment. It is amazing.

Arucard 04-14-2005 02:49 AM

Yah. Im going to do a little profile on a band, like Mxicans 'Muse' and 'Wildhearts' ones.

Bartender 04-14-2005 02:51 AM

I've never been away :-/ You seemed to be the one who's died.

I contest that neither of us has died, and it is MSN which has, in fact, died.

Arucard 04-14-2005 02:54 AM

Lol. Msn.

Riva 04-14-2005 02:56 AM

I'm slapping this dirty MSN bitch around. Hang on whilst I get it working again, Bartender.

So, who here agrees that Hi-5 are better than the Wiggles?

Bartender 04-14-2005 02:57 AM

I do.

But then I suppose you already knew that.

Riva 04-14-2005 03:00 AM

I did. Did you get that message? I tried rebooting MSN, but it seems it didn't work. I've got some real-world stuff to attend to, so I may just reboot my computer, and see what happens.

Grey Incision 04-14-2005 03:00 AM

It's probably a safe bet to say that Riva knows everyone's name.

Bartender 04-14-2005 03:23 AM

Nice combination of avatar and user title.

Congratulations then, if you think you've done well. I used to dislike French. Actually, in year 7 it was my best subject for some reason, but then two years later I couldn't even count in French without subconsciously switching to German :-/

Arucard 04-14-2005 04:10 AM

That guy that started the Drummers thread is such an idiot its unreal.
