that depends because i liked roger's lyrics, but the instrumentals are lacking, and pink floyd with out roger had good instrumentals but the lyrics were never the same, lol if your a beatles fan this should sound familier

gmoneyguy 01-23-2005 01:06 PM
The best things that Rodger did solo were concerts of Pink Floyd songs.
Yea just got it for Christmas. Absolutely amazing.

coddingtown 01-23-2005 02:34 PM

I dont like CDs without Waters. I dont much like the ones without Gilmour either though

Johnny B. Good 01-23-2005 02:38 PM

I wish I had live at Pompeii.......

magicbus 01-23-2005 03:15 PM

You should get it soon. Its really awesome.

DeusExMachina 01-23-2005 03:34 PM
Somewhat ironic.

So were there any more developments with Waters' statement about the Floyd reunion?
Yes. I've said it several times. Waters publicly denied that there will be a reunion tour. The rumors fly that he changed his mind, sure, but I have yet to find a single credible source which said there will be a reunion, but I have seen several sources say there will be none. Sorry, I'd love for it to happen, but I've pretty much given up hoping.

guitarded_chuck 01-23-2005 04:41 PM

There might be another tour, but I'm 99.9% sure that Waters won't be a part of it. Unfortunitly.

I wouldn't be surprised if Rick, David and Nick got together one more time, since on the last tour they never said it would be their last. Maybe wishful thinking since I never got a chance to see them, but they are techincally still a band.

Oh, okay, I must be thinking wrong then. Crap. :upset: I recall someone saying that Waters said there would be a reuinion, but then again, they had no source.

Otherside 01-23-2005 05:29 PM

I don't know, Waters seemed pretty friendly in the interview I read.

True, they are technically a band, but Gilmour has said that he doesn't want to do a major tour again. And, since he is the helmsman of the band, if he doesn't call it, it won't happen. It's still a possibility, and I'd love it to happen, but I'm not so sure.

To Otherside, I agree, Waters is quite nice in interviews, I guess he mellowed some in his older years, but he's still really really egotistical from what I can tell.

Distant Echoes 01-23-2005 05:56 PM

Pink Floyd probably couldnt put on as good a show as they wouldve in their earlier years...but theyd sell 5x as many tickets.

My personal prediction - if Floyd ever tours again, Itll probably be because their running out of money

Not quite a touching reason, but that is what i truely think. Floyd getting together for the hell of it seems to far out for me...something bigger is gonna have to happen than that for a reunion

Riva 01-23-2005 06:19 PM

I can't see Waters and Gilmour getting together just for old times sake. Either big bucks or big promotion will be the driving force, not friendship.

guitarded_chuck 01-23-2005 06:58 PM

I don't think it would be for money. It would be a final tour, and they'd let everyone know it was beforehand.

And yea, Waters has mellowed out a bit, but who knows how long it's been since he has even talked to David or Rick. He has become friends with Nick again, and they have played together, so who knows. But I doubt it.

BludgeonySteve 01-23-2005 07:46 PM

That would be nice but I don't think it will happen.

DeusExMachina 01-23-2005 07:53 PM

Tear. It would be so awesome, too!

Gossamer175 01-23-2005 08:07 PM

The perfect time for Dave to make an appearance was during that bloody tsunami aid concert. Clapton should have just tiptoed backstage and out comes Gilmour and starts playing. Roger looks up and sees him right then and there. I wonder what would happen in that case.

Probably awkward silence. They'd continue to play, because the performance was for raising money for Tsunami Aid. I dunno. We can always dream... Who knows what will happen. More than likely it'll be made official sometime that the band is done for good.

DeusExMachina 01-23-2005 09:34 PM

I think David would never agree to that. David hates Roger too, remember. It's not a one sided hate thing.

HempKnight 01-23-2005 10:04 PM

i think that if roger and dave made up a tour would be the WORST thing for their friend ship, i mean sure as a fan i wanna see them back together, but i would rather have the people who have countless times inspeired me be on good terms. Besides im sure there would be no new album and all we would get would be a reunion tour of people who have lost any vocal range they once had.

DeusExMachina 01-23-2005 10:07 PM

Actually, Gilmour can still sing amazingly well. Check out the DVD that came out recently. I think his sing has, if anything, improved. Also, Gilmour has said that part of the reason he doesn't want to do another tour is because it would involve making a new album.

HempKnight 01-23-2005 10:15 PM

well u may be right about gilmores voice because he does seem to have one of those voices that gets better with age, but i was more refering to rogers voice, lol i got in the flesh live last month, its a good cd.....but there are some tracks where you wish he had his old voice back. but still i highly doubt any tours or cds

DeusExMachina 01-23-2005 10:17 PM

As do I. Sadly.

magicbus 01-23-2005 10:29 PM

I'm gonna keep wishing. If I won't be able to see Cream, I'd better be able to see Floyd.

HempKnight 01-23-2005 10:36 PM

my big fear about bands like cream and pink floyd who have rumors of getting back together is they do get back together and put out a new cd and the cd is crap like so many bands that have reunions do.

magicbus 01-23-2005 10:37 PM

Yea hopefully they'll just play old songs and not try any new cds or anything. Unless it turns out to be good. Then I don't care.

Dr. Jake Destructo 01-23-2005 10:40 PM

For me, it wouldn't be about the quality of the music. I know that their golden years have come and gone. It would be more nostalgic than anything else.

DeusExMachina 01-24-2005 01:11 AM

Well, there's that new song on the Gilmour DVD, Smile, (... I'm writing a song right now that is tentatively titled Smile... weird) and that song is reaaaaally good. Different from the Floyd sound, but very good. So, whatev. I think they still have writing talent. I mean, Waters is writing an opera.
