Thats not much of a shocker, Cory is always unmasked when he's with Stone Sour, which i gotta admit is a pretty good side project, songs like Blotter and Get Inside kinda sound like Knot, but songs like Bother are pretty different.
yeah...stone sour is a really good band...

you can't forget about james in his band tho ;)

m_Unk_Y 06-26-2005 02:58 PM
i like slipknot and i think joey jordison is an amazing drummer, but then, why does the band have a separate person for "percussion"...isnt that like slapping joey in the face? because it seems that they don't find joeys rythms enough and so have a second person...any ideas on why the have the extra guy?
hahaha....they have two percussionists...clown (shawn) and chris...

im not sure why, but with them, it does give a better effect to it...kind of helps forms joeys back bone (which is a kickass drummer)...

but ever since slipknot was formed, they always said they were gonna have the 3 drummers...way before MFKR was recorded they used two percussions...clown and anders (old vocalists)

Dude3 06-26-2005 02:59 PM

Yeah, Corey is seen unmasked a lot. Joey is too.

Hey, I didn't know Mick was helping do the Death tribute with James Murphy! Awesome.

bigdudedrummr07 06-26-2005 03:00 PM

ah k, well, i stil think joey wud b able to do it himself but i do agree that the eventual effect they have is quite brilliant
joeys back bone (which is a kickass drummer)...
i probably get superflamed by this comment but imo, Joey isn't that great, he sounds awesome because he's in a nu-metal band and all the other musicians make him sound great.
I found Joey like an average death metal drummer.

Agreed. He's awesome, but there are just so many better drummers out there.

to each their own...i can see what you mean...

there are better drummers than joey, jon bonman, rick allen (i admire the hell out of him for playing with one arm)...

anyways, i just feel joey carries himself superb...i have seen them 13 times...and his solos always amaze me.. :)

i have great respect for him tho even more i gotten ahold of some of his recordings from 92 when the original lineup was formed

but then again...its just how i view it...and everyone has their own views :thumb:

pondlife 06-27-2005 09:27 AM

Do u meen from their crowz recording? i d love to know were i could get to hear some of their unrealesed material, and i dont meen unreleased as in sonds like carve of things the put on as bonus tracks.

The JoZ 06-27-2005 10:20 AM
Anyone have a live performed video of vermillion pt2? I can't find that song anywhere (live.) although I also couldn't find the first part.
http://www.slipknot-metal.com has, or had, the first part performed at some awards show in Holland (or Denmark?)

They don't do part 2 live, they just use the recording from the CD.

Sleeper 06-27-2005 10:21 AM

I have that vid, Its cool to see there death masks.

pondlife 06-28-2005 09:31 AM

Mmm just a thought but it would be pretty cool if slipknot repraced their 'mask' masks with their 'death' masks, as they look cooler in most cases (esp in the vermillion preformance at TMF awards)+ there wouldnt be all that crap about wereing masks because the masks are of their faces. bit like KISS except with paint...

Shady Ultima 06-28-2005 12:22 PM

To the guy who made the comment about Joey. He's overrated because he's mainstream, but he is very good. I was watching one of the Slipknot DVD's (not sure how many they have tho... ) and he is easily one of the best metal drummers since the 80's.

On a different note - My ex-gf was reading a magazine, and Slipknot are talking about breaking up again, because Corey is once again losing his voice. It will be a sad day if they break up again.

Cheers. :chug:

naw...its not from the crowz recordings...those are from 97, after MFKR...
1. Slipknot / Gently
2. Me Inside
3. Unreleased/No Name
4. Windows (Unreleased)
5. Spit it Out
6. Carve (Unreleased)
7. Only One
8. Scissors

but out of those...only four were leaked from those recordings: slipknot/gently, me inside, only one, and prothestics (was renamed)

there are live versions of windows and carve...they are from rare videos of '96

but the recordings i was talking about was from 1992...they are called "The Basement Recordings"...it consist of two tapes...9 songs in total...which alot of them are just practices it seems like...

tape one contains:
Slipknot (early version)
Idiot (extended version)
Gently (the genesis track)
Wise Up Construction
Wise Up Construction 2

tape two has:
Gently
Idiot
Slipknot
What's Wrong

there are a couple of videos of a performance on 12-12-1996 at the safari club

and if you want something...just IM me...screennames are on my pro

m_Unk_Y 06-28-2005 04:57 PM

does anybody have the dual disc edition of Vol. 3???

Immortalsoul 06-28-2005 05:49 PM
Slipknot are awesome, but i've moved away from them, i don't listen to them as much any more, for me, their latest album was a dissapointment, it was a change in their style of music which to me, makes COREY not the band, it makes corey a sellout. I only say this because all of slipknot say stuff like "corey was a real drive for us this time around".
Can someone please explain to me how Slipknot sold out on Vol 3??

The JoZ 06-28-2005 05:55 PM
On a different note - My ex-gf was reading a magazine, and Slipknot are talking about breaking up again, because Corey is once again losing his voice. It will be a sad day if they break up again.
I have repeatedly heard them, especially Chris, talk about at least one more CD, so I don't see them breaking up just yet.
Can someone please explain to me how Slipknot sold out on Vol 3??
They expanded their sound

Immortalsoul 06-28-2005 06:01 PM
Sadly, you are probably right. All of the little kids will think they aren't "hardcore" anymore and stop listening to them.
Hell, Some people think they sold out with Vol3. if they took off the masks, it would be over.

Joey was unmasked in an interview talking about his substitution for the drummer in the band Satyricon. He's quite an interesting guy, and had some neat things to say about black metal in general.

Immortalsoul 06-28-2005 06:10 PM

Slipknot is well on their way to being one of the greats of heavy metal! Their musical direction is logical one. Hey they brought Extreme metal to the mainstream. now its time to show off their abilities. I think they have a lot of great things in store for us. If not, there is allways stone sour.

I just saw Paul Grey unmasked when he was interviewed by the girl from Uranium at the Dimebag Memorial.

The JoZ 06-28-2005 06:57 PM

I still want to see a good picture of Craig unmasked, since I've seen all the rest.

/won't happen.

Huber 06-28-2005 07:45 PM

He's definetly the member I'd like to learn about most.

Sleeper 06-28-2005 07:47 PM

All i can tell is that craig is bald, And a little chubby.

Huber 06-28-2005 07:48 PM

I'm starting to get the hang of Purity if you guys wanna try and record a song for that contest.

Dude3 06-28-2005 08:12 PM

How much would you guys pay for a Slipknot tablature book, that has the best songs from the s/t and Iowa, and has ALL the instruments transcribed?

whatduffhuck7 06-28-2005 08:21 PM

i got one, its for s/t. its not bad, you can go to mx and get just as good tabs on them though. this book explains how to play the songs though

Yoursweet666 06-28-2005 08:36 PM

i think slipknot is pretty cool, but *almost* anything before corey joined sucked. not that anders couldnt sing or anything, but i mean cmon the song "slipknot" was about a video game. nobody sept people who play the game would know what "pentex sucks pentex sucks they drain the lifeforce of my tribe" means

The game thing is just a theory, others say it has to do with something else.

MFKR was amazing.
The game was just a theory others say it was about something else
oh i didnt know that. but i agree most of MFKR was good specially "gently"
