I'm turning into a Bobhead. I hear that I can get "Time Out Of Mind" for $5. I'm happy about that one.

OrbDragon 11-18-2004 12:38 PM

I got Worst Case Scenario by dEUS for about 10 euro the other day..."Suds & Soda" is one kickass tune...

I'm very much into Elvis Costello, The Avalanches and Cake these days.

5am 11-18-2004 12:41 PM

ive been getting into between the buried and me, Murder by death, Hank Williams Jr, the black dahlia murder, cursive.

BTBandM - Shevanel cut a flip (Hard/metalcore with very soft parts that feature great singing)
Murder By Death - Killbot 2000 (not what youd expect from the name. think pianos and stuff)
Cursive - Sink to the Beat and the martyr (catchy stuff)
Hank williams jr - Family Tradition (old/good country)
Black dahlia murder - Funeral Thirst (death metal-esque)

I've been diggin' on Jon Spencer and that darn Blues Explosion. Orange is a great album. Can't wait for January!

Lightning Bolt are dope. As are Quicksand. If you like the new Sparta album but want to hear it without the "emo" undertones, check out the album Slip by Quicksand.

Zmev 11-18-2004 02:31 PM

Sneaker Pimps, becoming X is awesome.

Tangy zizzle 11-18-2004 06:41 PM

I just purchased desperate youth, blood thirsty babes. Boy howdy is it good!

I also got Yes by Morhpine. It's pure sex.

Zappa 11-18-2004 06:42 PM

Good purchases, guy.

Tangy zizzle 11-18-2004 06:45 PM

Bastard.

Zappa 11-18-2004 06:48 PM

br3ad_man 11-18-2004 07:23 PM

Oi Zappa! I was talking to my guitar teacher yesterday (he has a wicked taste...he loves everything good, he's a big jazz head) and he was telling me how he didn't know where to start with Frank Zappa records.

I told him to get "Freak Out!", "Trout Mask Replica" and possibly "Hot Rats" in that order. Did I do the right thing?

Zappa 11-18-2004 07:26 PM

"Trout Mask Replica" is Beefheart, of course. But those are excellent albums, so I would say he'll enjoy them.

TV On The Radio make me cut me hair.

In a good way.

And yet, that guitarist had the least cut hair I've seen in quite a while.

The Mansions

here is a band you 've never heard of!

www.themansions.tv

hint: think Depeche Mode on steroids....

YDload 11-19-2004 12:22 AM

Sparta- Collapse. I'm terrible at deciphering lyrics, but reading them off the Internet while listening to the song really makes it that much more powerful. The music alone proves that these guys can still make great music without Cedric and Omar, but the lyrics are just a tiny bit saner.

Bartender 11-19-2004 12:26 AM

I just downloaded an album by a band I, until a short while ago, had never heard of, called Murder by Death, and it's really rather good.

enjoy_cai 11-19-2004 06:18 AM

The Violent Femmes and Wilco

I've been diggin' the Violent Femmes- Blister in the Sun, Kiss Off, and Please do not Go. They have been to my home town in the middle of nowhere Juneau, Alaska. I didn't get to see them I will regret it for ever. I learned about them from Bright Eyes who he says he listened to them as a kid.
Wilco is a great depressing band. I've been listening to Hell is Chrome, Humming Bird, Wishful Thinking. Hell is Chrome has some of the best **** guitar licks I've ever heard. Well they aren't extremely great but it makes the song so **** great. :thumb:

Tapeworm 11-19-2004 09:09 AM

I've been digging Little Birdy and Eskimo Joe still, as I am seeing them in a couple of days. Perth really is a hotbed for great music.

Dissapear.

Tangy zizzle 11-19-2004 08:20 PM

A lot of Jon Spencer Blues Explosion. These guys have become a daily staple in my musical diet.

I cranked out Penance Soiree yesterday. That album has balls the size of Texas, I am telling you! I got a poster like 4 days ago from their gig that I went to abour 6 months ago. It also has large testicals.

Hot Water Music are my favourite modern punk band. Do you care?

br3ad_man 11-20-2004 03:40 AM

Elbow
Cooper Temple Clause
M83
The Radio Dept.

pinkyeti 11-20-2004 03:52 AM

hm, due to the Prefuse 73 and the books collaboration thread, i'm getting into both these bands now.
