I now know why Stingrays are so popular. This thing has the exact tone I'm looking for. I'd still like a Streamer 5/6 and a Spector Euro 6, but damn...

Wish I'd picked one up 6 years ago and saved a lot of time and money...
GET ON THAT!!

Has anyone heard of the band Six Finger Satellite?
Are they the ones who won that 'scam' music contest a few years back or am I mistaking them for another band?

Spaceman Spiff 05-04-2009 09:18 PM
I'll be seeing Incubus on August 25th.

Didn't realize Pearl Jam was touring. Guess I'll be getting some tix for that too (if they come through AZ).

Should be good. Their new stuff sounds better than their self-titled album with the avacado on the front. Didn't care for that album so much.
I think they're just doing two shows in North America at the end of their European tour, one of which is in Toronto. They'll probably be doing a NA tour soon, though.

DaveSavesTheDay 05-04-2009 09:18 PM

Whats the 'scam' music contest called anyways? Emergenca or something like that?

I don't know. I just found out about them yesterday. I like them a lot, though.

spiff did you kill my image in my thread or did the image host i cant tell haha

Sablate McNuff 05-04-2009 09:25 PM

Lollerskates.

Pearl Jam is not coming to Arizona. :upset:

They are playing in San Diego, but I'm not willing to drive 300+ miles for a concert with a turn-around for work the next morning at 6am.

It wasn't me. Like that awesome Shaggy song.

Just wait for a full North American tour. It might not be until after the album comes out, but it'll happen soon enough.

DaveSavesTheDay 05-04-2009 09:30 PM

I hate going back to work after 3 days off :(

gaslight 05-04-2009 11:02 PM

Indeed. Work is a drag then I come back to a home business that means my "free time" is almost always technically just me slacking off from my other job.

m-dirnt_fan101 05-04-2009 11:13 PM

I should probably get some sleep because I got work in the morning

...ah screw it-STARCRAFT!

gaslight 05-04-2009 11:24 PM

That's the spirit.
haha no.

i bought a mic and im experimenting with vocals. recording vocals pretty much sucks. im working on effects and layering and whatnot. i have a few rough finished songs but nothing i'd release yet.

through the sun is the last song on the album though and it's INTENSE
Have you got a pop filter and what type of mic are you using?

****ing ridiculous.

DaveSavesTheDay 05-05-2009 09:14 AM

Ridiculous, yes, but getting rid of Pokemon was a good call.

FunkMetalBass 05-05-2009 09:18 AM

Agreed. It was quite crazy.

Glad it's over.

Now it's on to more expensive and time-consuming hobbies (cars, guitars, and bars).

And math if you're nerdy like me and like to practice constructing regular polygons in a Euclidean plane using only a straight-edge and compass.

FunkMetalBass 05-05-2009 10:10 AM

Is there a key containing E, F, G, Bb, C, and Db?

If I remember my circle of fifths correctly, the answer is no, but my brain is a bit tired this early.

Closest thing I can think of is a modified Bb Dorian with an augmented 4th. Anyone else have any thoughts?

gaslight 05-05-2009 10:13 AM

Not in straight major/minor keys but the key of F Harmonic Minor is home to all those puppies.

FunkMetalBass 05-05-2009 10:16 AM

^ Yes.

Good call.

It's even better because the riff I came up with is centered in F.

+10 imaginary rep

gaslight 05-05-2009 10:26 AM

Top stuff

:chug:

What?

I do not understand that whatsoever.

gaslight 05-05-2009 11:27 AM

It's like, smart-people drawing.

FunkMetalBass 05-05-2009 11:42 AM

Basically, drawing shapes with all sides of equal length and all angles of equal measurement by only using a compass and a ruler.
It's like, smart-people drawing.
This.

I do it mostly for practice for my Geometry final on Thursday.

It's actually fairly useful. My buddy wants to build a ramada in his backyard and his wife wanted it to be a heptagon because she's a weird-***. I was able to do it and I felt awesome.

fatbandit 05-05-2009 11:47 AM

That doesn't sound too hard. I could do that as long as I knew how long each side was supposed to be?

gaslight 05-05-2009 11:51 AM

I can ride my bike real fast.

FunkMetalBass 05-05-2009 12:07 PM
That doesn't sound too hard. I could do that as long as I knew how long each side was supposed to be?
It's actually pretty easy. Since it's all Euclidean, all you have to do is take the ratio of radii from the inscribed (r) and circumscribed (R) circle (which is obviously R*sin[2*pi/7] ), take an arbitrary point in between the two circles, construct a tangent through that point to the inscribed circle, and then create the other 6 tangent lines from the points of intersection between the tangent line and the circumscribed circle.

FunkMetalBass 05-05-2009 12:09 PM
I can ride my bike real fast.
Pics or it doesn't exist.

EDIT: NVM. I googled "gaslight bike"

gaslight 05-05-2009 12:14 PM

Haha nice.

Yeah I don't have a bike.

Used to have a decent mountain bike.

No mountains really around here though and I can't take my bass somewhere on a bike so it fell by the wayside.
Have you got a pop filter and what type of mic are you using?
its a shure k27, i dont have a pop filter, but i have a wind screen. i think im gonna nix the wind screen and make a pop filter though. metal clothes hanger with panty hose stretched over them.

the biggest problem im working with right now is the sound bouncing off my walls and causing shitty reverb.
