Well, Bartender is really cracking down on the spam in here. Yes there is a lot of spam in here, but the mods are changing that; and are now very stict(sp?) on spam in here. Also, I cleaned up your post. Please type properply; this isn't a chatroom or an IM. Sorry if I come off as an ass. :) |
hey folks...
bah, I don't know how to write music, I'm a poet, not a musician really, even drums-wise where I can actually play the instrument, I just improvise most stuff and find it difficult to commit to paper
you should bring a sample of your poetry to school sometime. i can't write music or lyrics, i just attempt to play bass. wow, i just downloaded a 75mb file in about 7 minutes, my 2.2mbs connection pwns. NP: Metallica - One (S&M version) my audioscrobbler has started recording what i listen to - it can be found here. does it only record tracks you listen to all the way through? |
Cain here. I've been banned....?
Why? EDIT: Was this for the good night post? Because we were having a decent discussion beforehand. In any case, I apologize.
Your good night was tagged on the end of a post, which was fine. You double posted some other time, though. Sorry :-/ I know it's petty, but I'd banned others (Eleventeen and RCA, specifically) for the same before, so I couldn't just glide over it. Can't pick and choose, etc.
k back
How was it? |
That's funny because I can't write lyrics at all. sometimes I have a nice chord progression and nothing to sing over it.
Exactly. Its hard to come up with lyrics...I can come up with music easy enough, but i need somebody else to write lyrics for it. |
Hello, everyone. Excuse me while I catch up with interesting things (or lack thereof, I'll find out over the course of the next ten or fifteen minutes) that have occurred recently in my absence.
So, I just came back from War of the Worlds. Really didn't like it. I mean, the special effects were top notch, but I can't think of anything else that was worth mentioning that was positive; terrible dialogue, sub-par acting, no build up, and if there was a climax, it was way too late. Also, how does nearly all of the tri-state area surrounding New York get destroyed [hell, the whole Eastern seaboard], yet an old residential neighborhood in Boston stay well standing? The ending is the worst I've seen in a while. And the movie is very, very loosely based on the book. This isn't even comparable to Sin City and Batman Begins.
It's a pity you didn't like it. I mean, I didn't/haven't see it, but I've read the book and saw the original movie. I had to watch it for my Film and Lit class my sophomore year of high school.
/ATM shows pictures of punk show
Cool, looks like you had a good time. The Whips look like they have good stage presence.
I go to Chicago on July 5th [sic]
Nice. Have a good time.
Well, nothing beats good BBQ, period.
Agreed. BBQs own, no matter what's on the 'cue.
*gag* I'm a vegetarian.
*gag* Do you not like protein and iron in your diet? I'm kidding, it's your choice. Have fun eating salads the rest of your life.
/we cream ourselves
Heh. Congrats, I guess. What channel was this on? I've never heard of Live8 before, to be honest.
something about a benefit concert for AIDS, but it was horrific
Heh. That's too bad, I was waiting for Bono to go on and on and on and on and on... and on about Africa. Except I didn't even know there was a benefit concert to begin with. Bono probably wasn't even there.
Green Day was horrible, I heard some of their stuff on the radio. I can't believe they have any fans.
I like Nimrod, and even though I have a burned copy of American Idiot, I haven't bothered to listen to it yet since the three songs I've heard from the album have been overplayed out the ass locally/nationally.
Not only is it generic, but I also have a suspicious feeling that they actually have no clue what they're talking about and just making an image for themselves to sell to a new generation who'll believe anything they say.
This is what I would have said in this situation, heh. I can't imagine Green Day or Simple Plan or whoever else has any idea of what's going on in the world compared to U2's Bono does or Rage Against the Machine did.
Man, how many of these series would we be up to then? Steerpike's Spotlight Featured Artists RCA's Thrash Heroes ArC's ones about albums Featured Genres(pfft faylur) MagicalTroll's something or another What's for Lunch? (Copyright Dr. Jake Destructo) Riva's Monday Night Mayhem Med's untitled kewl threads Det Nosnip's various threads R&M owns.
At first, I would ask, "Why is that a bad thing if users are spreading knowledge to one another about the music in this forum?", but then your last sentence made sure I didn't have to.
I'm slated to do FG #6: Power Metal
What the hell, why are you banned? EDIT: oic. Nothing major, if I'm assuming correctly.
I want to do a thread about Black Metal, but I am afraid of the "uber kvlt nekro tr00 gr1m" people will piss on it. Because yeah, I am not the most knowledgable about black metal, but then the more knowledgable most likely won't take the time or don't have the time to make a huge thread about it. I might do it, I dunno yet.
DO IT.
Peace out for a month. I'll post a few times I think.
Adios.
/discussion of Children of Bodom
I only like a couple songs, to be completely honest. But this is because I haven't heard much from them... just their "biggest" songs, I guess you'd say.
The new July competition is metal covers.
This is another reason why I wish I knew how to record myself. I'm rather optimistic that this month will be more active and successful than the prog competition. Not to say that last month was horrific, because all [six] entrants were great, but when there's a lot of traffic through this forum and only six people enter (and a slightly larger number vote), that's not fun times, especially for the person running the show.
/pseudo-philosophical love discussion
/brain explodes
So right now I am downloading Half Life 2, has anyone played it?
Really? That game took aeons to install on my computer. It's a great game, much much better times eleventy-billion than the first one.
/tries to emulate Jom's huge catching-up-of-a-thread
It's true, my responses to all these things really have no point other than proving that I've wasted my time catching up with this thread, with the slim, slim possibility that MAYBE something interesting happened while I was away. Yet, like clockwork, nothing has. Expectation++.
Listen to my song plzkthx

Wow, that was impressive.
I s'pose I should check out this song, then.
Inspired by a conversation in another thread, I'm working on the rules for an R&M video contest. Here's what I've got so far: 1. Only one submission per MXer. Songs may be either original compositions or covers, depending on the individual's preference. 2. Judging will be based on overall musicianship, accuracy of playing, and showmanship. 3. There will be separate rankings for solo acts and for full bands. In other words, there will be a first place for a solo performance, and a first place for a band, along with respective second and third places as well as runners-up. 4. All videos must be shot for this exact purpose only. No concert videos. 5. Recording must be done live. No digital mixing. 6. All videos must be a straight-up performance. I don't care if you can create a music video artistic enough the outstrip Peter Gabriel, that's not what this contest is about. 7. If you are simply voting for your friends, you will be disqualified. As you can see, there are still a few gaps to fill in, but I should have it ready soon.
This is a good idea. Originally, I was hoping for a music video-like contest, where you make a music video behind an original recording... but, duh, whoring your skills would probably be a million times better. Good job.
I get to go dirt bike riding today, wewt. Happy 4th to the Americans here, go blow shit up.
Hahahaha. Happy 4th to you as well. How's the new bike? I got sparklers :( /runs
/glad Bartender is being more strict on these things
So am I. One day definitely isn't a bad sentence, and besides, I'm rather positive in Cain's instance that it was an honest mistake.
Your serious? that is spam? well then u shud b keeping a closer eye on the rest of ur thread- ive seen a few things tht r way worse thn tht- way worse!!!!!
Hello, my name is Jom. I love grammar and proper spelling. I would tell you welcome, but your opinions about this thread right off the bat are horribly misconstrued, and I honestly hope you change your attitude. I got my girlfriend to write lyrics for our band...she's big on poetry and crap. Never really liked that stuff much...was never good at it. |
Well, I could write a really long post about it. It was good, ups and downs though.
I'd have to say that the highlight was standing in line because Therapy? were signing. So when they finally opened the gate for me, my girlfriend and her friend, Andy spotted me, grinned and put up the devilhorns. (\m/) That was an amazing moment, then I went in, got a few pictures taken with us and the guys. I shook their hands and thanked them for the autograph. Andy likes to draw weird faces next to his autograph. Michael said he liked my shirt (Therapy? shirt :p) so I replied "me too :)". I'll scan it in a minute or so. I don't have the pictures yet. Notable bands : Audioslave (Playing Soundgarden's Spoonman and RATM's Sleep now in the Fire and Killing in the Name and a good show overall) Therapy? (Therapy?) Pennywise (Covering Blitzkrieg Bop and playing well) Flogging Molly (Dance!) Kraftwerk (They were just standing there behind their laptops (?) not moving and the screen behind them illustrated the songs. The Model was really awesome. (Ein, Zwei, drei, vier.. *go crazy*) After a few songs I had to go sit down, because that joint happened to be very strong. So I saw all kinds of cool things, yay.) Queens of the Stone Age (Lots of extra song parts and solos) Probably more.. That's all that I feel like writing about it, I'm a bit tired and probably still full of all sorts of drugs. |

He opened the concert in Hyde Park with Paul McCartney (doing Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band). But then, it seems wild horses couldn't keep Bono away from most kinds of charity work. |

Never really liked that stuff much...was never good at it.
That's pretty cool. I wrote a freeverse poem that I was satisfied with, and may use for lyrics. The problem is, it's extremely hard to make a song out of. |
Bastard.
Bastard.
:upset: They turned into robots during 'The Robots', that was really cool. Also, I realise how much I'm on this thing normally, I haven't been on the computer for a week or so and I'm all confused. |
Bart-123/123/sounds very interesting/I missed that part of Live 8 :(
Man, today sucks. There is nothing great about the fourth of July. |

So I'm banned. For double-posting. Feels kind of weird, but I don't suppose I'm really in a position to argue. Eh, it's only for a day. I went to sleep around 6 AM, so I'm guessing I'll have my account by 7 AM tomorrow?
Whatever. I crash at 6:30 and wake up around 2 or 3, so it's not like it matters. |
