jrowa001 10-11-2009 01:26 PM

DMIR are pretty good. their last ep was jut ok though

RetiredAt21 10-11-2009 05:04 PM

He is Legend are way gayer than Dead Man in Reno.

HighandDriving 10-11-2009 05:18 PM

He is Legend?

RetiredAt21 10-11-2009 05:19 PM

Yah.

HighandDriving 10-11-2009 05:37 PM

Why'd you compare them to DMIR, something bringon said?

witchxrapist 10-11-2009 05:38 PM
Dead Man In Reno are back together

http://www.sputnikmusic.com/news.php?newsid=11061

their S/T was damn good IMO
Awesome. Pretty psyched.

witchxrapist 10-11-2009 05:41 PM
Ya dead man is pretty crappy.
How the hell could anyone say this? Their self-titled is ****ing impressively tight during the tech bits, and just all around catchy.

I mean, yeah, its got melodic death riffs which automatically means the band is scene, and I know they're not wanked over by every elitist, but they're still ****ing good.

witchxrapist 10-11-2009 05:42 PM
Why'd you compare them to DMIR, something bringon said?
Nobody was comparing the two, everyone's just saying He Is Legend is ****ing gay.

HighandDriving 10-11-2009 06:17 PM

Random.

witchxrapist 10-11-2009 06:21 PM

Please stop ruining all chances of good discussion dude.

Apoc 10-11-2009 06:31 PM

HOW BOUT THEM RED SOX ARE THEY A BASEBALL TEAM OR WAT

also: ++ to Converge for Axe to Fall being so damn good

witchxrapist 10-11-2009 06:38 PM

Axe To Fall isn't that good, sorry guys.

And seriously. We have a Converge thread. Can we please discuss other metalcore topics in here already? Like seriously, Dead Man In Reno's back together. **** YES.

Apoc 10-11-2009 06:41 PM

sorry. was just trying to get the conversation back to music.

Never listened to DMIR... will listen and report back with findings.

witchxrapist 10-11-2009 06:43 PM

Get their self-titled, it's pretty much the best thing about "deathcore."

Nepenthe 10-11-2009 06:50 PM

i dont think id consider them deathcore

Apoc 10-11-2009 06:50 PM

hm sounds enticing.

witchxrapist 10-11-2009 06:52 PM
i dont think id consider them deathcore
Melodic death metal with brutal dm and tech death parts and a rare hardcore or post hardcore part...

Hmm, sounds like deathcore to me.

Also, their EP is more generic deathcore forumla writing, and Matt even does gutturals all the time now.

bolded part made me laugh

witchxrapist 10-11-2009 07:09 PM

Well they do have those parts, so yeah...

Apoc 10-11-2009 07:27 PM

'The Devil Made Him Do It' was awesome, and 'He Said She Said' kicks ***.

Album's pretty good as deathcore goes.

I'm afraid while it may push the limit of how good the genre can get, it's still trapped by the problems inherent to 'deathcore.'

What their ST demonstrates is tons of potential. If they've grown in a new direction, their **** could stomp colon.

Apoc 10-11-2009 07:32 PM

Ok I'm revising my prior statement, "Cursed" pretty much does everything right that can be done as deathcore.

by which I mean, they've already stomped some colon. hopefully the new stuff they put out is good

rippedgutz 10-11-2009 07:35 PM

Killswitch Engage is my Favorite

Dimmu Burger 10-11-2009 07:36 PM

Honestly KsE played a big role in getting me into more extreme types of music. Alive Or Just Breathing still rules IMO.

this

Apoc 10-11-2009 07:39 PM

As Daylight Dies, while generic, is a very solid metalcore album.

Enough so that it probably got a lot of people closer to the genre than they would have ever gotten otherwise

so - no hatin' on my part. Killswitch is legit.

witchxrapist 10-12-2009 12:00 AM

i liked kse until as daylight dies came out

they were one of my favorite bands

that album made me hate them

Yep. I don't listen to them anymore, but they are a good in between band. Alive or Just Breathing and self titled were pretty good.

witchxrapist 10-12-2009 12:05 AM

Yeah, those two and The End Of Heartache ruled when I was first getting into metalcore.

Txus 10-12-2009 07:46 AM

this page blows

RetiredAt21 10-12-2009 08:22 AM

Backed.

KSE lol. :|

witchxrapist 10-12-2009 10:56 AM

Yeah, ugh wtf, I can't believe peopled liked that band when they were like 14-17 years old.

TomTheOverlord 10-12-2009 11:08 AM

Does anyone here like advent?
I think their new album is pretty sweet.

Professor Frink 10-12-2009 11:10 AM

dead man in reno was new to me.
thanks.

Nepenthe 10-12-2009 12:12 PM

i knew killswitch sucked even back when i used to spend 3 hours a day learning how to play as i lay dying songs on guitar

witchxrapist 10-12-2009 12:15 PM

seriously though, it's beyond snobby to be like, "THIS IS SO GAY I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU GUYS ARE SAYING KILLSWITCH ENGAGE HELPED GET YOU INTO THIS GENRE"

Nepenthe 10-12-2009 12:19 PM

i used to dislike screaming/growling and **** until aild's first album. then the floodgates opened and my musical interests moved beyond 80s thrash.

Txus 10-12-2009 12:20 PM

I used to like Dead Man in Reno a lot, haha. Thank god taste change.

jrowa001 10-12-2009 12:20 PM

i did listen to Killswitch Engage quite a bit back in the day but i honestly cant say im a fan anymore

soo...Reflux anyone? last time i brought them up my post was overlooked because of an extreme discussion about Converge haha. Reflux are pretty sweet
