Frou Frou is an amazing band.

So, umm...

Yeah.
This is true.

pikester 03-16-2006 04:16 PM

I share a birthday with John Elway, and both the Beginning and End of World War I. Also John Cusack, Heidenreich, and Mel Brooks.

Sup 3,000 posts.

My manager at work told me that if I don't start getting more sales at work he's gonna have to think about releasing me when my probabation is up.

Not before I get a cheap staff loan he isn't!

What? World War I didn't begin and end on the same day. It began in August 1914 with a rapid succession of alliances falling into place, and ended on Nov. 11th just as we're all familiar with.

He was born 6 times, stupid.

Zappa 03-16-2006 07:25 PM

So today I found out I've been accepted to the music technology program at the University of Michigan. They congratulated me on "my very well received portfolio," which was just a copy of my album. That sort of praise for the work I do is probably more exciting than getting into the school. I love when old people like my music.

Little Man being Erased 03-16-2006 07:33 PM

That's really great, Zappa. Congrats.

Archduke Franz Ferdinand was shot on June 28th, 1914, which started the whole alliances declaring war on each other thing.

And while they did stop shooting at each other when they signed an armistice on November 11th, they didn't actually sign a peace treaty until June 28th, 1919. (Treaty of Versailles).

OK... so it's a bit of a stretch.

Wanker 03-16-2006 07:37 PM

Congratulations, man. Did you decide where you'll be attending in the fall?

ATM 03-16-2006 07:37 PM

That's cause your album is sweet, Zappa.

I'm waiting for Northeastern University to tell me if I'm accepted. I had a great conversation with their guy about the program and how I fit in based on my portfolio and stuff a few weeks ago, but I don't know for sure if I'm going to be accepted or not.

I'd like to visit both Ann Arbor and Boston to check out both schools, but I don't know if I'll be able to. If I don't get into Northeastern, I'll probably just go to UofM, though Michigan State is still a possibility.

Research project coming up... do I do:

a) Politics in music and its effect on society
b) The social/musical impact of the Velvet Underground

pixiesfanyo 03-16-2006 09:32 PM

I'll smoke some marijauna tonight.

Robert Crumb 03-16-2006 09:32 PM

Wtg Zappalex, I hope you become a famous composer so I can be that one guy who wrote about your first album.

Seriously though, good job on the scholastics.

I'm no Rasta, man.

br3ad_man 03-17-2006 12:42 AM

Today at our volleyball game, I walked off with a group of friends to get a drink of water. We got back and our coach yelled at us for walking off without telling him. Then at the end of the day, we were wondering where our coach was (because you can't get on the bus without him) and then someone spotted him halfway across the sports field walking to the bus. He hadn't told us. What a wierd guy.

I rented Elephant last night. I'll probably watch it tomorrow.

Kurtz 03-17-2006 12:50 AM

Happy St. Patricks Day, everyone

Excellent film! Make sure you see more Gus Van Sant after this one ... he's a very engrossing director. I've fallen in love with his style.

Zmev 03-17-2006 12:58 AM

Whens the next untitled;1970 gonna come out?

I got my grandaddy purp today, ahh yeah.

Little Man being Erased 03-17-2006 03:08 AM

Yeah, Elephant was really good.

I think Gerry was another Gus Van Sant, wasn't it? That was very good too.

If you say so, I will check him out. The only other film of his I've seen was his remake of Psycho. In theory, it was an interesting enough idea, but basically the most pointless film ever made.

I'm probably going to record it today or tomorrow. So, very soon. :D

Oh, well geez. Yeah, that Psycho remake is his lowest point. Go see My Own Private Idaho - it's a gorgeous movie, one of my favorites. Or see Last Days, Drugstore Cowboy, almost anything. He's a great director.

I watched that in my communications class. I didn't think it was necessarily bad, persay, but just un-needed.

I was gonna go see V For Vendetta today, but it's rated R. Damn my being sixteen-ness

Zmev 03-17-2006 11:44 AM

Muahah

Speaking of being over 18, I'm gonna buy a pipe today.

Glitterati 03-17-2006 01:37 PM

Have fun with that.

In other news, I just beat Batman Begins. I rule at life.

sweboy 03-17-2006 02:21 PM

While we're on the topic, I have a group paper on artificial photosynthesis due to monday. Wtf.

Oh wtf? Damn.

Oh well, I don't have any money so I couldn't go either way :smash:

We decided on a band name. The Glass Eye Trio. It's short for Pablo Escobar's Glass Eye Trio, but we decided to have a short form that can be said with at least a degree of seriousness. Do you like it?

Yes, that's what that means.

Kyle 03-17-2006 04:33 PM

I'm 18 next Saturday, growing up is scary.

Cool band name JonM, Thinking of band names is a horrible task for me.

Pablo Escobar's Glass Eye Trio > The Glass Eye Trio.

JonM 03-17-2006 04:41 PM

Haha yeah, probably.
