bwnstl - What was your theory?
Mike - Thanks, hehe. Hopefully I'm here to stay, but once I get my computer mended, and once I get a new graphics card, I'll probably fall back into my groove of fag RPGs. Moses - I've never done LSD, thank you very much! |

Which games? I can honestly say that the only computer game I still enjoy is Warcraft III. Classic game. :) But otherwise, I stick to PS2... |
Mainly Morrowind. That game is so epic...Once I get my new graphics card, I'll get Oblivion, the successor to Morrowind in the Elder Scrolls series.
For any interested, I found out why the abbreviation LSD is used;
i"LSD" is an initialism formed from the German chemical name of the compound, Lysergsäure-diethylamid.
|
StarCraft will always reign supreme over all games in my eyes

That game never hit me like the Warcraft series did. I really dig medieval themes and stories over futuristic/sci-fi ones, so that's probably why. Still a decent game though. |
Stolen from ToolNavy forums:
Track length! http://www.sonybmg.de/artists2.php?...uct=82876819912 Tracklist - CD 01 Tool Vicarious 07:06 02 Tool Jambi 07:28 03 Tool Wings For Marie (Pt 1) 06:11 04 Tool 10,000 Days (Wings Pt 2) 11:14 05 Tool The Pot 06:22 06 Tool Lipan Conjuring 01:11 07 Tool Lost Keys (Blame Hofman) 03:44 08 Tool Rosetta Stoned 11:14 09 Tool Intension 07:21 10 Tool Right In Two 08:56 11 Tool Viginti Tres 05:01 Looking good. And note that the albums two longest songs/tracks/parts of songs/whatevers, 10,000 Days (Wings Pt 2) and Rosetta Stoned are both 11:14 long. I wonder, I wonder, I wonder, what would happen if one was to play the two songs together, starting them at the exact same second to see if something interesting happens.... I doubt it, but then again I'm sure it could be cool if you're an acid user. |
Eh, I find Starcraft to be too similair to other strategy games like Warcraft, Ages of: Younameit, and the like.
Track length: Mm, that would be very epic to lay two tracks over each to end up with one track. Novel idea, one I hope to apply if Tool didn't actually do that. (6) |
I thought LK (Lost Keys?) was suppost to be 18 minutes long? Perhaps they did end up breaking it up?
|
Yeah, what the hell?
Then again, we got that piece of info from Blair, and he can go eat one. |
Starcraft is possibly the most balanced game ever. All the races are completely equal while remaining completely unique, and there's no supreme strategy, and endless Use Map Settings games.
Plus, it's probably the only game that has gotten BIGGER over the years, and not gotten old. StarCraft is still gaining players and hasn't lost many. 8 years running. :/ sorry to bring my StarCraft rants in here... So yeah, looks like the 10,000 Days duo makes up the 18 minutes. Didn't Maynard wanna make that a Ringtone? |
As stated before, The original track, formerly known as the 15 minute Lost Keys, has since been broken up into Lost Keys (Blame Hoffman) and Rosetta Stoned. One song, two tracks, sort of in the Parabol/Parabola sense.
|
He wanted to make some 18 minute track a ringtone. But that 18 minute track had the initials LK.
Wings= 18 minutes Lost Keys = LK Fuck it, lets just have ringtones for all Tool songs! |

But if you reread the newsletter you can quote him on saying something like "...but then again it could have been as short as fifteen minutes". So there ya go. |
Yeah, I just remembered that. He said it was just an estimation, and could have been off.
|
Don't blame Hofman. Blame Blair.
New thread title? |
Agreed.
|
Heh, if we had Kage and AJIG here it'd be all the regs.
|
Rob can come too.
NP: PoS - People Passing By Late found love for Jake. :-D |
Heh, if we had Kage and AJIG here it'd be all the regs.
How I miss the days... Hey, it's been a whole year since you've been at this site Moses. Congrats. :thumb: |
Hey, at one point I was a reg...I think.

Yes they did: http://www.flaminglips.com/content/live/shows/s03a.php?sid=883183e813ff16ebad442675d29c3e3a |

I've always wondered this. The song Jerk Off does he say " To jerk off just like you" or "To jerk offs just like you". That s makes a big difference, which is it.
|
Starcraft is possibly the most balanced game ever.
Yes. Too bad I sucked at it. Also, Morrowind (PC) is the most kickass game ever. Why only the PC version is because of the limitless ammount of plugins available to fix things like the character models and the combat engine. And the construction set. I can't say for Oblivion, but I assume it will overtake it's younger sibling. |
Ah yes, a fellow Morrowind fiend. Do you know of any plugins or patches that might cure a startup problem or a corrupted file by any chance? I haven't played it in quite some time due to this issue...
PS: Oblivion looks downright amazing. :salivate: |
Sadly, I wouldn't. I'm sure someone on the official Elder Scrolls forums would, though. I've actually never played the PC version, but I know enough to realize it's eons better than the XBawks version.
I'm actually afraid to get a 360 and play Oblivion for fear of what little life I have now will completely go to shit as I struggle to level up constantly. |

Do you know what a/the Rosetta Stone is? It was a stone that was found in Egypt that had Greek and Egyptian languages on it in 3 scripts, so it was a key to deciphering heiroglyphs. Now, already you have a Tool-ish concept of deciphering things and making hazy things clear. But, yes, of course, you have "stoned." Well......pull your head out of your ***; stoned refers to more things than just getting high. Being stoned used to be a death penalty or a way to make someone unconcious. Put the two together, and I think it has the potential for a very Tool-ish message. Now that I think about it, maybe what they'll do is combine the concept of the Rosetta Stone and drug use and how drug use can be used to decipher things that are otherwise unintelligible. I don't know, I guess we'll see soon. |
One word DOOM 3.
|
Everyone needs to buy Heroes Of Might And Magic III. Best game ever. Also I remember reading on some ultimate guitar news that the two longest songs were 11.46?
EDIT: No, it said 11.14 |

Bit early in the morning for me though :p |
I still go a mention...not forgotten
This is getting annoying now though...little tid-bits of info here and there building the hype...And there is still like a month to go. |

Was it a year ago at this time we were pretty sure it was coming out in a couple months? Guess I missed the parade earlier. |
Yeah, wasn't this when the whole "Teleincision" or whatever rumors started showing up? August 16th?
|
Yeah, wasn't this when the whole "Teleincision" or whatever rumors started showing up? August 16th?
That sounds bout right. I still want a live DVD  |
I really wonder what ever happened to the DVD that was "definitely going to be out before the album."
 Maybe 10,000 Days isn't "the album." Maybe they're doing a System of a Down-esque release like Hypnotize/Mezmerize. /is simply hoping for the best possible scenario. Yeah, can you imagine that? 10,000 Days, then Teleincision, then Refractionoid/Elephtheria/Porkak. |
What about Aldaria or whatever?
lawl @ Refractionoid... that was just bad  Jake didn't we actually convince some noobie that it was true once? With my whole "Cd next week.". |
Yeah, I think it was something like trial 7 through the whole "Dude, it's already out, go check at Best Buy" routine, haha.

The reason why people were saying that the title was un-tool like is because it is ridiculously cheesy.
