Hey all.
Tired as hell. Was up real late last night. Got two chapters left of HP6 so naturally, I'm depressed. Cried my eyes out from chapter 26 until where we stopped at chapter 29. Bloody hell. Amazing book, but how I hate it had to be this way. I now have a theory as to how book 7 will end, and I'm not happy about it in the slightest.
On a happier note, I'm glad that we are almost done so I can read books 5 and 6 again on my own. After we'd read book 5, I couldn't bring myself to read it again so quickly. :upset:

:p

Enjoy it! It's an amazing movie. Would see it again if I could.

Steerpike 07-31-2005 03:39 PM

I just got back from the game shop and picked up a leaflet saying that one of the local channels is sponsoring a Saturday night programming block in the Chiller Theater tradition.

That made my day. :D

unless Jake sends me the version of forest there is no way the *thread cover comp*
song is ever going to get finished

Taste_My_Scythe 07-31-2005 03:46 PM

How many of those are you doing? The covers for the official band threads.

Oh, that sucks. Which system song?

clearvision 07-31-2005 03:51 PM

Is it just gonna be the tool thread vs the SOAD thread?

Tool thread needs bass tracks :(

Leah (amirite taste my scythe?) what do you mean by we are reading?

Lord Abortion 07-31-2005 04:00 PM

it was forest, which I love...

I thought Martin heavy bass dude/E-T-T was helping you out toolwise?

family reads the book together. We only have two chapters to go. :upset:

Shattered_Future 07-31-2005 04:04 PM

Just picked up Doomsday Machine by Arch Enemy.

From what I've heard off of Wages Of Sin, and how much I've listened to this album so far (and I have Anthems Of Rebellion), Doomsday Machine is the best album Arch Enemy has put out with Angela Gossow on vocals. It's melodic as hell, yet still has a heavy as hell edge to it.

Nemesis rocks. :thumb:

Shred Danson 07-31-2005 04:05 PM
We know you read it. Stop acting tr00. :p
On the contrary, I didn't even buy the book, sum'bitch!

tr00 dat!

If anything I'll just buy the book on CD and listen to it while I'm asleep :p
I'll have visions of dragons and wizards for months

He may well be, i know someone said they would help out, but I'm not really an organiser so i don't take much notice.

Leah - That's cool, my family doesn't do anything like that. Though i really didn't find the chapters towards the end that traumatic, was it 'cause i read the whole thing in a day and didn't savour it enough

Shattered_Future 07-31-2005 04:07 PM

The ending to that book is really screwed...i was like...whoa.

Riva 07-31-2005 04:08 PM

Good morning everyone! Early morning, I might add.

I had the strangest dream last night, combining Tolkien and Wells in a strange mixture of LotR and The Time Machine.

Also, I'm worried about Bartender. Is he still alive?

Even if I had read it in a day, I would've still found it traumatic. You know what kills me though? I knew it. I just knew it. About Snape. Yeah, everyone that reads the books hates him with a passion, but has faith in Dumbledore. From the start of the 6th book, I just knew it though.
As for reading with the family; it's not too bad. Except when it's HP. Because then, I want to read it and know what's going on, and discuss theories with everyone else.
I figured out immediately who RAB is. :thumb: I'm so proud of myself.

Thats a good idea. I don't know, I'm thinking about actually reading the books. The only one I read was the first one a long time ago. So I might start reading them. Or I might just go with your idea and listen tothem while I'm asleep.

I will agree with this, the album is quite good.

My Apocalypse is my favorite song on the album as of now.

Wages of Sin and Doomsday Machine are their best with Angela, but Anthems was seriously lacking minus a few songs.

NP - Tır - Regin Smiğur

Shattered_Future 07-31-2005 04:12 PM

I didn't think Anthems Of Rebellion was as bad as people said it was...it has quite a few good tunes on it.

NP: Arch Enemy - Carry The Cross (slowly making my way through the album. :p )

Don't condemn snape just yet ;) she has planted seeds with the plot, she can go either way with him...

RAB, If it's Regulus Black (sp?) I'll be dissapointed, I want some twists in this new book. I feel like I can write the framework myself right now.

Shred Danson 07-31-2005 04:16 PM

Well, first I thought

last name + B = Black

Then it just hit me. Regulus Black. Sirius's brother who was killed by the Death Eaters on Voldemort's orders for trying to get out. The locket is somewhere in the Black family, or descendants of them.

Dr. Jake Destructo 07-31-2005 04:18 PM

Just got back from New Orleans. Man, that was a freaking awesome vacation. :-D I had so much cajun creole fried stuff. I also went to the Virgin Megastore and picked up some good buys. Porcupine Tree's Voyage 34, Boy Hits Car's S/T(which I thought was basically non-existent) and The Doors' Strange Days. It was on sale, so I couldn't pass it up. All 3 of them are quite good, especially Voyage 34. It's perhaps the most psychadelic, trance-inducing album I've ever listened to. It tells a story of this guy Brian, who, after 33 fine LSD trips ends up traumatized/dying from the 34th one. The story is told from the point of view that a classical composer would tell a story, only Steven Wilson included little spoken samples to help better explain the story. The solo in phase one is flat out amazing.

So has anyone ever noticed that J.K is a former journalist with a poor grasp of Latin who happened to have a vivid imagination and built off the fantasy books of the 20th century?

Shattered_Future 07-31-2005 04:20 PM

Yknow, the movies really don't do the books justice...

I saw the first one, and never bothered to see any of the others...they cut out too much.

I'm a purist like that. :D

Taste_My_Scythe 07-31-2005 04:21 PM

I love how she does her research. I gave a little chuckle of recognition at the name Fenrir Grayback. I love the books and writing; so rooted in mythology.

/mythology buff

EDIT: Mike - I know. I bet you they're going to cut out the Quidditch World Cup in the next one. Dolts.

Good thing you missed the third, it butchered the story.
ICB, Big Jake is back in business.

It would appear so.

...why was that directed towards me?

Riva 07-31-2005 04:23 PM

Ok, here is Riva's prediction for book 7

Has anyone read the Chronicles Of Narnia? Well, if you haven't, then basically one of the characters kills himself to become more powerful.

So, Snape has killed Dumbledore, either on his own or under Albus' orders, so that Albus' will be more powerful. Harry goes off, bangs Ginny, Hermione and Cho, then attacks Voldy, whereby he is aided somehow by Sirius and/or Dumbledore, who may or may not be in spirit form.

And another thing, has anyone thought it is odd that nobody has painted a portrait of Sirius? To my mind, that's all it takes to have him back in the land of the living.

Shattered_Future 07-31-2005 04:25 PM

Yea, Harry's not really a "man" yet. ;)

clearvision 07-31-2005 04:25 PM

If they cut the quidditch world cup I'll be annoyed, I'm looking forward to triple decker tents. Anyone noticed how Fleur looks younger than hermione in the new film? Hermione is way too fit to play Hermione.
It would appear so.

...why was that directed towards me?
Because it was you that enquired into where he was :p I could have also directed it at Ollie who informed me of how we name the Jake's around this part of town.

RAB Is supposedly Regulus Black, Sirius' brother. Harry found a note in the horcrux from him, he had already destroyed the horcrux. We also know Regulus used to be a death eater and was killed by Voldy for betraying him.
