report me. It takes 12.3 seconds to make another name, you coward.
'Let's call him names till he bleeds' Ah, Burnt Face Man...... Sup Tool thread? /Tries to fit in |
Go read the new post on Toolband. The band and Blair drop acid for a birthday party (uhhh, yeah...) and give us many not-so-subtle hints that Lost Keys is indeed about Mr. Hoffman, the guy who popularized LSD.

Edit:You know, looking at the page thingy, I realize how long Ive been gone. The last page I remember was in the upper 800s Edit again:Ooh!!!Look at my shiny new avatar!(also my first) Edit once more:Kage you bastard. You really did kill the thread! :) |
I just hope to Buddha that they didn't split up 'LK.'
Seriously, I'd cry. |
I just hope to Buddha that they didn't split up 'LK.'
Seriously, I'd cry.
They did. The whole 17+ minute piece is now "Lost Keys (Blame Hoffman)" and "Rosetta Stoned". Shame, but hey whatever. |

Can you really blame them though? 17 minutes is long even for Tool, and not every band wants to go that far, except maybe the Mars Volta. If I had to guess, Id say that they decided that the piece was losing energy and or continuity or some similar thing like that over the ginormous span of it all, and decided it would be best split. Way way back, wasnt there a rumour that one of the songs they were working on was being tentatively refered to as LK or LM or something? |
There's no such as too long.
But the band probably needed an additional track (11's a rather standard amount of album tracks) and couldn't physically fit anything that felt like it was a true part of the album onto the two minutes of disc space they had left Or not. I guess we'll see how it flows once we hear the album. Which will be in just a few more weeks. Hell yes. |
I didn't say it would be too long, it would probably be awesome, but sometimes, (trust me) you just get the urge to cut stuff either off or in half. I know because I write pretty long songs myself, and every once in awhile I realize Im just rambling and not really being productive musically. But alas, Im sure Tool already understands this. But the point is, sometimes I get bored playing a 12 minute song and I realize it needs work because Ive gotten bored. And everyone knows only boring people get bored so I dont want to be boring. Whew. That being said Im logging off.

So is there any audio clips floating around from the new album yet?
|
It could just be a 2 part track, kinda like the Disposition/Reflection/triad trilogy on Lateralus.
|
So is there any audio clips floating around from the new album yet?
No. /smacks hand |
Theres 2 really short ones that were floating around a little while ago, but we donno if they're official. I have them if you want to hear them...
|
YSI them.
|
I just watched part 1 of this 2002 tool concert on google video. Having never been to one, it seems lke such an awesome experience.
|
Can someone sum up the news about the new album for me?
|
Blair smokes crack.

They're not Tool. One was some prog metal-ish band, and the other I believe was either some Doom 3 music, or some industrial band. |

Yeah, I didn't think it was them. |
So has anyone heard Adam's work on the Farcry videogame soundtrack yet?
Disclaimer: I'm not even sure if the game is out yet. Det - No, he drops acid. LOTS of acid, apparently. |
Can someone sum up the news about the new album for me?
It's called 10,000 Days. There's album art, a tracklisting, and a release date of May 2. April 17 is the day of the new single. |
I can't believe they named it 10,000 Days. I mean there was just an album called 10,000 Fists. It better have a good reason to be named that.
|

I've never seen many live vids of them, and now that there's googlevideo and youtube it just ocurred to me to search around. Nice avatar btw. |

Yeah, i just did a google vidoe search for tool (lots of...irrelevant vids) and found "2002 lateralus concert part 1" on page 2 or 3. And the same goes for your avatar :thumb: And your user name. I just realized that it was 2 refrences to jimmy. holy shit. |

Reading Blair's newsletters can be compared to cutting ones wrists.
Utterly useless. oh, and fatal. |

Parabola ftw! |

You're not the first to wonder. I won't even inquire as to why Tool named it that. While Lateralus and Ænima are extremely novel in originality compared to 10,000 Days, I'm going to take a wild guess and assume that the actual content of the album will live up the the expectations of their previous, better-named albums. :p Oh, and 123 at Blair's newsletter. I don't give a **** about any stupid freaking giant rock. Even though it was a pretty cool stupid freaking giant rock. |
Like I said... 10,000 Years would have been way better.
|
I'm really beginning to like the title Rosetta Stoned, though. And Blame Hoffman. Drug references are something I really wasn't expecting from Tool, though.
Moze- You're not Tool, sorry. :p PS: I'm falling in lust with Entropia. It only took me three months. I'm regretting not ever getting around to downloading that other PoS album you uploaded. Sorry. :upset: |
Maybe it's "stoned" as in stoning someone to death. I doubt it though.
|
Well, considering that the second half of the song "Lost Keys(Blame Hoffman)" is obviously about LSD,(Especially after reading about Camella's birthday party/Blair's flashback) chances are it has something to do with some sort of psychoactive state, heh. :p
nearly off topic - Has anyone ever thought about how odd the acronym LSD is for Lysergic Acid Dimethylamide? If anything, it should be LAD or LADMA or something. Just thought I'd interject that... |
I hope I'm right with my theory about what Rosetta Stoned might refer to, that way I can come back here and laugh.
|
I'm so glad you're back Jake.
|
Noone in here does LSD besides you Jake.
