Yeah, but the TT is crappy compared to the live versions.
agreed. BQOBD, ATSS, Wasting Love and JBMG are the only really good songs on that album. It seems Maiden have a myspace, i seriously hope this isn't an official one:amaze: http://www.myspace.com/ironmaiden |

It seems like it was made by a colleague/associate/friend of theirs. I don't think the band actually play any part in the running of that myspace. So the new album is called 'A Matter of Life & Death', cool title. |
Looks like Nicko didn't co-write any of the songs :upset:
But looks like they've used Bruce a lot for the songwriting, which is a good thing. |
I like the amount of Harris/Bruce/Smith as that combination usually owns. I wish that there were more than two Gers contributions because I really like his aongwriting.

You Maiden nuts probably already know but
Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet has posted three articles on Iron Maiden and their upcoming album - one where the band members talk about how smooth the recording went, one that describes the new album and one account of the bands' reactions while watching England playing Sweden in the world cup. The three articles, in Swedish, can be found here, here and here. Read on for translations of the important parts. Many thanks to OcA for the head's upThe first article consists of quotes from different band members mixed with typical journalist's filler comments. Steve Harris says the recording went so easily "It felt like something was wrong". Allegedly, during the whole recording process there was not a single fight or heated argument, due to the band being more harmonic than ever. Or, as Steve puts it, "Nicko knew the songs much better this time. On every record I usually have a fight with Nicko over arrangements and such. This time we didn't have any and it made us worry." Says Nicko: "I think it's a lot because I've been more mature this time. I have taken into consideration what the song needs, not what I'd like to play" During the making of Dance of Death, however, the fights were much more plentiful. "It went so far we stood shouting at each other", says Nicko. "I was so angry we almost started fighting." Steve also explains the thoughts behind the new album's title, A Matter of Life and Death: "Six, seven songs on record circles around war and religion. Religion has caused more death, pain and misery than anything else. And we never seem to learn. Unbelievable." Regarding the future, Steve is more doubtful. "From the beginning I've said Maiden will make fifteen studio albums. In that case there's only one left and that makes me sad. There is a life after Maiden. And there's a lot I'd like to do I don't have time for now. Sure I'd miss the band, but there's no reason to live in the past. We'd probably piss off some people if we quit, but the day we don't want to do it anymore it's over." Aftonbladet also got to listen to Maiden's new album and describes it in the second article. There's a lot of empty words in it but summing it up, here's what it says: - If you liked Brave New World and Dance of Death, you'll be happy with it. - The band continues on the progressive road and the music often switches between soft and hard. - The big arrangements and complex structures of the last albums return. - "Out of the Shadows" is said to sound a bit like Children of the Damned and Bruce's classic solo number Tears of the Dragon.
http://maidenfans.com/index.php?ACT=module&name=rwnews&area=article&nid=2070 Album is sounding even more ace then ever :D But only 1 more maiden album :( |
I really hope that they do more than one more album. I really can't wait for this album though. I hope that the material will transfer well live.
This saddens me deeply:upset: |
I think I would actually cry if Maiden split up.
|
It talks about religion? I hope it's reasonably subtle and awesome like Age of Innocence, and not obvious and way over the top.
|
I'm really loving SSOASS at the moment. Only the good die young! I love the bass on this album.
|
Yeah SSOASS is fantastic. There really are a lot of gems on that album.
|
It's a brilliant album, i think the weakest tune is CIPWM? other then that the rest are all fantastic, Infinite dreams probably being the cream of the crop.

Gers co-wrote the apparition. Nuff said. Also, we can always hope that, if maiden only do one more studio album, they could always release just live albums of new material? |

Nice to hear, I enjoy Maiden where they were going, but I'll also miss alot of the past stuff. 3. Ahh yes, in other words..EPIC songs I do believe? Perfect. 4. Beautiful. "Children Of The Damned" happens to be my favorite song from that intire album (That is of course, right after Hallowed) and "Tears Of The Dragon" is without a doubt my favorite Brucey song. This album=Ace already? |
Only one more album would make me very, very sad.
|
Yeah, the time when I first heard SSoaSS was probably when I started listening to the bass in Maiden.. from then on in any Maiden music, it was as if I could hear Steve, when before the guitars way overpowered him :D

That's the only thing wrong with having 3 guitars :upset: I've said this before and I'll say it again, Blood and Belief is an el Fantatistica album. Best Blaze album ever. |
Hollow head is one of the best songs ever.
|
Could someone hook me up with some new Blaze stuff?
Stick 'er on the Daily Upload perhaps? |
I really must hear some BLAZE albums, i've only heard the live album and judging by that i'd say they should be very good.
|
Bit of a lie when they say there's been no big arguments recording the album...Caveman's studio diary says there was at least one blazing argument ("and no, it wasn't a debate") over a harmony part somewhere, where Caveman insists he's right "Because I've studied at the [whatever it was] school of music" and Steve says "Well, I studied at the school of rockability, so there!"
In the end, Caveman's still right, apparently. |
I think they were referring more to inside the band itself though.
I don't know whether it's good or bad really, because tension can lead to better results. |
a lot of people do work better under pressure.
i hope they don't split up after they make a 15th album, but just decide to go to 20 albums or something like that instead. |
I listened to Hallowed be thy name yesterday...It had been a while. Damn I love that intro. I need more Maiden.
|
How long have I been telling you that Jammie?
|
I don't know. Have you ever said it ?
You did threaten me if I didn't like BNW though :p When I have money to spend, I should maybe take advantage of that sale on some of the Maiden cd's....hmmm |
Well, I meant to say it if I didn't.
|

Yup, it was me. It was either that or 30$. Well worth it either way.
|
Yeah it is.
For over here (Atlantic Canada) it's like..$25 for a normal album, and any of the live ones are $30-40. It's such a piss off  |
