Least Favorite-St. Anger:It was so many mistakes, but still it's acceptable.
I believe that St. Anger is a good album, it is Metallica's worst album but that doesn't mean that its a bad album because all of their other albums are fantastic, and i think people need to give them more credit for that album. It had been like 8 or 9 years (i dont know) since their last studio album, so for them to comeback and make their best album ever is a big task.
never said it was bad, it's just my least favorite and also i just think that they could made that album better with a little patience. |
never said it was bad, it's just my least favorite
and also i just think that they could made that album better with a little patience.
yeah, but i can understand how they really wanted to get back into doing what they love and getting it done so that they could go on tour. maybe it was just a stepping stone to even greater music.............hopefully |
Patience? They spent two years working on it, and spent almost 100% of the time working on it.
|
But a year of that was waiting for james to get out of rehab.
|
But a year of that was waiting for james to get out of rehab.
6 months, and it wasn't like they completely haulted either. |

no way. watch some kind of monster and he was gone for almost a year. |
no way. watch some kind of monster and he was gone for almost a year.
Ahhh, ya got me. 11 months. Still, that's a good amount of time to work on an album, and like I said they didn't just stop everything and wait for James. |

Really? What did they do when James was in rehab? I know that they did that song with Ja Rule  and Swiss Beats  , but i didn't know they did anything else. |
Patience? They spent two years working on it, and spent almost 100% of the time working on it.
yes patience: they mix up many of their time with other activities, searching a bassist preparing the skom documental , rehab, photo shoots. |
I bought S&M and I thought it was excellent. The only downside is no sanitarium or fade to black. Also No songs from KEA, I guess it was just too thrashy for the symphony.
i definately agree there...i think that fade to black should've replaced bleeding me (although i like the s&m version of it, i think fade to black would've been better)...but i'm trying to think of a song that coul've been done instead (unless they did it along with the other songs) i also think it would've been cool if they did orion in the 2nd half of the concert...ya know, their two best instrumentals (imo) in the same concert, one in each half, i think that would've been bada$$. :thumb: |
S&M is missing Fade To Black and Creeping death, They didnt do a single song off of KOA and only 2 songs off of RTL (Ktulu, For whom)
Fade to black is such an amazing song, and one of James's favorites, im suprised they didnt perform it. And to burtonbassist, they will never, ever perform orion live, nor have they ever as far as I know. Following reasons: -cliff's bass solo, its awsome, they want to keep it as his -3 guitars to make it soung good -if they ****ed it up everyone would hate them |

I've never heard Orion live either...
|
On top of that... Orion, to me, is electric guitars and bass in perfect harmony. Its a testament to what they can create. To bring another element (ie, orchestra) in would destroy that balance.

Don't know if i ever posted in this forum before but if I have then you'll read the same thing again...
My oppinion about metallica the first 5 albums where great Kill em all is my favorite album. But after Nothing else matters - I don't like this song because it's far to peacefull and i don't like the music. Then after that the album Load came out. THere was one good song on it and also one of my favorites. I'm talking about Ain't my bitch - it has a little rock n roll tune in it. Then REload came out. I thaught that the songs coulnd't get worser but they did. Now it did Fuel is a great song such as The memory remains and unforgiven 2 . The rest is just not my taste. Then they brought out theyr cover album whit great songs on it. Whole album is great. But after that to my opinion they mad ea big mistake. TRowing all that symphony into theyr best songs(most of the songs then :P ) and after that they brought out st anger. Well Frantic is a little bit of nice song and that song scores the highest of the whole album. If you ask me they should have stayed to Speed and TRash metal. So yes i'm a great metallica fan but more of the first 5 albums. Then another thing Metallica is the richest band in the world and st. anger sells the best. Ok what the hell is going on here? st anger is hardly metal wich theyr name stands for. They get (in euro's ) 2,50 for each st anger cd sold. well if you ask me a lot of lunatics most live on this planet then. But hey that's my opinion. MEtallica is one of my favorite bands but there are other bands that i like better so that was my speech for now :P |
i listened to st.anger a few times now andi must conclude that reload is a less good album
load is beter tho |
Reload was ok, fuel, the memory remains and fixxxer are sweet but load was excellent :)
|
I thought reload was just boring.
|
I got a question, What are you expecting from a new metallica album? Not what do you want it to be, what do you think it will be like, where will they go from St. Anger?
More rock and roll? more thrashy? Get even worse? |
I thought reload was just boring.
agreed |

More rock and roll? more thrashy? Get even worse?
Either 1) Like Load, more country/rock 2) Like St Anger but with solos 3) Something totally different, maybe pop-punk or 4) A total comeback thrash masterpiece. fetauring the ghost of Cliff. |
4) A total comeback thrash masterpiece. fetauring the ghost of Cliff.
lol. I think it'll be just like st. anger maybe they'll remove annoying drum sounds and add a few solos. Which would be a kickass cd. |
Either
1) Like Load, more country/rock 2) Like St Anger but with solos 3) Something totally different, maybe pop-punk or 4) A total comeback thrash masterpiece. fetauring the ghost of Cliff.
Well thanks for narrowing it down and giving me a nice precise (sp?) answer   I think it will just be the same except back to solos coz of all the stick they got. I really hope they go back to standard tuning, or maybe Eb. I hated the muddy undifined tone they have on St. Anger. |
i hope they go back to there old ways, as much as I love albums like Load and the Black album, i want them to bring out a killer thrash metal album :p

Kill Em' All was a one time thing. Better get over it now. |
Kill Em' All was a one time thing. Better get over it now.
I love Kill 'Em All I wish they had made more albums like it :upset: |
I love Kill 'Em All I wish they had made more albums like it :upset:
Yeah, apart from the wierd guitar tone (that real buzzy distortion was a bit crappy) there were song really cool thrash songs on there. The Four Horsemen, hit the lights, seek and destroy are all classic tracks. Ah 1981, i wish i was alive back then :upset: |
I was looking through my Kerrang! from 1984/5/6(can't remember exact year) and it had Metallica tickets advertised for £3.
|
are metallica gonna do a gig in england? or they not doing that anymore
|
They're recording a new album right now, so they aren't on tour.

I've searched the internet, I can't find any info on the new album. |
I've searched the internet, I can't find any info on the new album.
:upset: ah well, just have to wait then...they wont tour for a while after the albums finished anyway will they |
i hope they go back to there old ways, as much as I love albums like Load and the Black album, i want them to bring out a killer thrash metal album :p
I think all of us in this thread want them to go bak to there glory days in the 80's and erly 90's. But i rly hav no idea wut the next album would be like, becuz wen u look at the past they hav covered so many genres of rock and they always manage to make something totally brand new and different. But I am positive that these guys are gonna last well past 2010 and be long lasting like Marshall Tucker or the Stones |
AM tryin to learn Master of Puppets at the moment any ideas to make it easier, and don't say practice

Don't downpick it all. Sure Metallica may downpick it but learning it like that will make your life harder so alternate pick it. |

Go through it veerrry slowly, then speed it up |

James is one of the masters of the downpick. |
I could downpick Master Of Puppets right of the bat. I don't find it hard at all.
