What is your favorite album, most hated album, and most overrated album.
Me. I think. Most hated;Garage Inc. Favorite; Master of Puppets Most overrated; black album (although it still kicks ***). |
Oh shoot I;m sorry I was talking to the wrong person
|
Most overrated-S&M
I don't wanna hear Metallica and an orchestra is God- no it's an excuse to re-release old material in a new way. Fav- KEA thru Black Hate- much of the rest- not all |
I actually thought S&M was good experiment, and I enjoyed it.
|
Never said it wasn't good, just think it was a definite market move, and so many people think it is awe inspiring, and it's nothing but an orchestra playing backing chords and melodies. Nothing special about it, the bluegrass tribute was so much better than this.
|
I wouldn't go as far as most Hated but i will state mine....
Most Disliked: Kill Em all Most favoured: Ride The lightning Most overrated: Black album (Simply because its the only one that was commersial) |

That is quite quite wrong. |

uh yea...that was a smart thing to say... |
then again so were my last couple posts
|
Favourite : S&M
Hated : I don't hate any but least fave is Load. Over-rated : I don't think any are over-rated as such. |
I will say this: The Black Album is good but by definition its overated. Its all the mainstream ever mentions, its all non-metalheads know and it just doesn't have the same power or ferocity as the previous 3 albums.
My personal favorite has and always will be Master OF Puppets. Partly cause of the title track, and cause the whole album is just that good. I also luv RTL a lot and consider it a close second. I've actually broken it down track vs. track and if u do it that way, i mean since they were done so similarly its basically a tie, but since Master OF Puppets has the title track and Sanitarium i think it makes it their best album, and ultimately the best heavy metal album......I am definitely a hardcore metal fan, but i don't hat eany of it...if I must say there was a lotta crap on ReLoad. and few i could do w/ out on Load. Rcok ON Bros!!@! |
Reload and Load is tough to decide which is better/worse but Load has 'Ronnie' and 'Cure'.
/shudders |
Everyone agrees Load and Reload were a let down. I think Kill 'Em All and Ride the Lightning, even Master of Puppets and And Justice for All, to an except captured the essence of their really heavy thrash era. After that, I wouldn't call Black Album thrash even though it is excellent.
|
Well, I wouldn't call MOP or AJFA pure thrash albums. Kill em' All and Ride the Lightning were their thrasiest albums. But MOP and AJFA had a blend. Like MOP has Damage Inc. which is very thrashy and AJFA has Dyers Eve.
|
I wouldn't call Black Album thrash even though it is excellent.
Definately not, I think the majority of the album is just Heavy Metal, but there are a few songs (Through The Never, for example) that I would call borderline thrash. |
Can someone upload the song "The Prince" for me? I believe it was an unreleased song off AJFA and I've never heard it before.
|

I agree with you there. I was thinking about it and probably should have put heavy metal in there but I erased that part of the post. Now that I think about it, you're right on |

Great minds think alike  |

I too, would like this upload due to the fact I have never even heard of this song. |
Okay satch man, first off The Prince was originally a diamondhead song that Metallica did on Garage Inc disc II. Its pretty good especially if u like that old-skool NWOBHM sound. Rock ON!!!
|
Tis is how the albums go for me
Favorite album: Master of Puppets (becuz of battery) Least Favorite: Kill Em All (waaaay to much distortion, i only like seek and destroy on it) Most overrated: definetly S&M becuz they just played their songs all over agen just like a reg concert, the symphony, not metallica, did 90% of the work except for - Human and No Leaf Clover, that was a 50% 50% split on work, and plus it was not THEIR idea to do the classical and metal mix, Michael Kamen, the conductor, came to them(this is sed by James in the S&M DVD) |
I loved Kill 'Em All. Probably my second favourite, behind MoP.
|
Dude, schecter I don't know what ur talkin about w/ "K EA." The distortion and all out crunch is what made it rock so much and why so many people noticed them back in 81 and 82. I''m sure they used just as much gain on the next liek 4 albums just had a tighter sound..and slil better equipment of course.
|
That KEA sound is just an all around thrash sound. After that album they left the straight up thrash realm and used it more as an influence rather than a backbone.
|
I completely disagree with SchecterGuitarist. I love KEA. So many kickdonkeyass songs like motorbreath, metal militia, seek and destroy, whiplash, etc.. KEA is probably my second or third fav. metallica album.
|
Totally Pepsi, though it's just his opinion, but KEA kicks so much balls, I like all songs on there. The only downpoint is I don't care for James' vocals that much on this album.
|

I bought S&M and I thought it was excellent. The only downside is no sanitarium or fade to black. Also No songs from KEA, I guess it was just too thrashy for the symphony.
|
I'd be interested in hearing what that would sound like. Probably bad, but it'd be interesting. Symphonic thrash. Heh.
|
Actually yeah that would be really cool sounding.
|
Alrighty so explain this, If its sooooo overrated....why did u by the DVD?
i sed its overrated that doesnt mean that i dont think that its rly good, i just feel as tho it didnt take much for them to accomplush like MOP or AJFA did |
Favorite-Ride The Lightning: Because it is awesome, and even the so called album fillers are incredible.
Least Favorite-St. Anger:It was so many mistakes, but still it's acceptable. Most Overated-Master of Puppets: all the people always compare all their work with MOP.And it's wrong. Most Underrated-Load:It's a good album, but most of the "fans" make it look like a piece of crap. |
I thought this was cool that i learned a few days ago, James recorded all of the guitars on nothing else matters, all the guitars on this track are him, i got this from my So What Book: The Officail Metallica Chronicles. I learned that Michael Kamen, the conductor in S&M didnt want the symphony to play the cover Song So What becuz of the lyrics, if u hav red them they are rly raunchy but us metal heds luv that sh*t(i got this from the S&M DVD).

Most Underrated-Load:It's a good album, but most of the "fans" make it look like a piece of crap.
i definetly agree with u on this one. Kirk used his chops from blues and Jimi Hendrix's playing on this album which i thought sounded wicked like the bleeding me or carpe diem baby(relaod) solos |

it shows a lot of variety and a different scent of heaviness(2X4), also it has very good lyrics(Until it Sleeps,King Nothing, The house Jack Built, Mama Said,The Outlaw Torn) and also cool melodic tunes, people should recognize it as an album not just as something different and inferior to MOP(here the use of MOP overating system) |
Least Favorite-St. Anger:It was so many mistakes, but still it's acceptable.
I believe that St. Anger is a good album, it is Metallica's worst album but that doesn't mean that its a bad album because all of their other albums are fantastic, and i think people need to give them more credit for that album. It had been like 8 or 9 years (i dont know) since their last studio album, so for them to comeback and make their best album ever is a big task. |

I think that the songs are great on St. Anger, its just that the songs are too long, and for me, it gets a bit repetetive |
