Lake Bodom and Red Light In My Eyes Pt. 1 ftw

Nepenthe 05-16-2006 01:54 PM

I just listened to an Inearthed demo, and you know what? I think I actually like that stuff better than the CoB material.

repcak 05-16-2006 02:03 PM

hey, i'm back again :D

my cpu-cooler crashed and i couldn't get a new one ... it took my whole 2days to get a one ... but now i'm back. so i couldn't record me playing kalmah - swamphell as i promised and this weekend i travel home to my parents... so in two weeks sometime.

but tell me, did i missed anything? whats going on on the Cob-thread? any new rumours? :p

Inearthed is a million times better IMO too.

repcak 05-16-2006 03:33 PM

hm... i just realized that there weren't much discussions while i was off.

and i agree with MRDuCran about playing correctly and perfect ... but we'll se how i will do with swamphell :p don't expect too much :/
i haven't practised much in the last few days -> university, computer, friends .... no time
Silent Night, Bodom Night, everyone picks that intro bit with tremelo pickign when in fact it's controlled triplets, same with the lead part on the high E string, and the
sweeping bit after, ugh.
my guitar teacher told me that its played in double-triplets (sixths? - i don't know how to say it).

once again EDIT:

this video is amazing... the sweeping part, the moves, everthing perfect O.o

Hey bitches, new FUKKING computer.

You're teacher may think it's at 110ish and playing in sextuplets, which is the 6 note per beat thing you're talkign about. The overall feel of the song would indicate it's around 220, so 3 notes per beat would be more accurate tbh. Both are correct as long as you use the right tempos with each.

I have that video by Jani, he's pretty good but I hate his tone.
I have the tabs too if anyone wants.

AA-12 05-16-2006 06:36 PM

He has my dream tone :-\ Haha.

I'll take the tab JSevered013@gmail.com

MRDuCran 05-16-2006 06:56 PM

If I forget, I might need some reminding, it's on my old hard drive (4GB lawl) so when it all gets transferred, I'll send it out.

Actually, you might be able to find it on ultimate-guitar.com.

I'm feeling generous.

DaBuddah 05-17-2006 11:34 AM

i havent heard much of there stuff but the songs that i did hear were preaty killer:chug:

thatscooliguess 05-17-2006 11:35 AM

ok.... i didnt get into bodom until last saturday.... im glad to see a post about em up here..... i have four of their songs burnt to a cd... Children of decadance (which im learning on bass) kissing the shadows, bed of razors and sixpounder..... amazing band.... Alexi Liho is crazy! possibly the best music ive heard in a loong time!

by the way, does anyone imagine pirates when you hear bed of razors?

MRDuCran 05-17-2006 12:32 PM

You have some pretty good songs there!

I think BoR is pretty piratey too.

Also, I am currently downloading Tokyo Warhearts. I will soon have Nosturi too. Yes, Dylan, we all know you have it on DVD, but soon, so shall I. :)

repcak 05-17-2006 02:50 PM

if you have something like that:

12-10-8
do you play it with your index, middlefinger and pinky
or do you play it with your index, ringfinger and pinky?

kurrpt 05-17-2006 02:52 PM

i play it both ways repcak. You'll find times where its advantageous to do it either way, or the other depending on whats coming up next

i tend to favor the 1 2 4 fretting (index middle, pinky

repcak 05-17-2006 03:03 PM

thats what i prefer too ... but then my stretch between 1 and 2 is a little bit problematic... only some millimeters, but i have to work on it ;)

The Buttloaves 05-17-2006 05:56 PM

I just recorded this. It has nothing to do with COB but people actually read this thread. Just tell me what you think so far, it's not done.
Well I naturally wouldn't have believed him, either.

But he ranted about it FOREVER. I buy it.
Fixed it last night. When the input jack gets loose, I'd tighten it. I didn't realize that I was twisting one of the wires. To make a long story short. My bro soldered it and I'm rolling.

MRDuCran 05-17-2006 07:24 PM

So you can record the intro solo to Needled 24/7 now?

MRDuCran 05-17-2006 07:25 PM

Wasn't too bad man.

The rhythm tone's pretty beefy, and that first whammy bar raise was cool.
Liked the last riff best though.

The Buttloaves 05-17-2006 07:29 PM

Yeah, I don't have much tonal range. I record directly through a Boss ME-50 on the "Loud" pedal option. I don't really know how to mix much, especially with audacity. And as you can hear, I'm not a very good lead player but I wanted to throw something in there, so I figured I'd just wank something on the whammy bar.

I did mention when I've practiced it a lot. Which I have not recently. I havn't played any part of that song in like 1 month?

repcak 05-18-2006 02:16 PM

CoB thread is dying since last week... why? we need a good discussion... any suggestion? maybe we can start to make a Cob-competition or something like that... hm....

The Masked Guitarist 05-18-2006 02:20 PM

um ....... converstaion ............
uhggg *swears under breath* favorite CoB cd ........
ummm * *again swears ** ........ favorite band member .....

MRDuCran 05-18-2006 02:35 PM

lol. Been done TOOOOO many times.

Repcak, what kind of competition do you have in mind?

Moses 05-18-2006 02:47 PM

I'll play keys if anyone wants to do a cover of Kissing the Shadows.

MRDuCran 05-18-2006 02:56 PM

Can you play like Janne?

repcak 05-18-2006 03:13 PM

hm... i thought that everyone could record a small part of a bodom song and then we could put it together.

Sleepy 05-18-2006 03:13 PM
Can you play like Janne?
You mean drinking a beer while playing Lake Bodom?

EDIT: @ repcak

I'm a bassist.

repcak 05-18-2006 03:32 PM

when i try to record something through my mic i hear noise and in the background my guitar... what do i have to do to eleminate the noise?

edit: don't mind

MRDuCran 05-18-2006 03:41 PM
You mean drinking a beer while playing Lake Bodom with one hand?
