I'v started thinking Deliverance and Damnation are my least favourite albums.

They're great, I just like the others better.

You weren't discussing, you were just bashing this thread, which makes it go off topic for pages without any result, which sucks. I don't like any of the Official threads either, but either take them as they are or stay out of them, trolling doesn't help.

Actually, I'm considering closing all of the official threads, they aren't natural and Ken made way too many of them and they clog up the first page. I might just get rid of them.

Deliverance is severely lacking on atmosphere, I think. Still a great CD though.

But deleting threads would just mean people that want to talk about Opeth will just create more?

We will just have to be more creative. Alt & Indie doesn't have any official threads. That's why it's the best.

If only Alt/Indie music was half as good.

Wow, you really gutted this thread of some posts.

But don't you think deleting the 'official' threads is a bit pointless? What happens when they're gone? Someone will post a new thread on the band, it will generate a great many posts, and soon you basically have another 'official' thread in its place.

This. Except that it will take a while to happen...and in the meantime, there will be a whole bunch of new Opeth/Metallica/every other band threads made each day, each of which gets to a few posts or pages, until one finally gets big enough that everyone is referred to it, and then you've basically got what we have now.

Anyway, Face of Melinda is probably my favorite Opeth song...I can't see how anyone could dislike it. Sure the rhyming couplets are a little bit forced once in a while, but it's such a great song.

I can't rank the songs on Still Life very well because it's the most consistently good Opeth album. Every song is pretty much equally good.

I agree with that, Still Life is probably my least favorite Opeth album but I've been listening to it quite a bit the last few days. The Moor, White Cluster, and Serenity Painted Death are my favorites. I do like Face of Melinda too, so don't kill me. :p Benighted pals greatly in comparison.

Ron, get Still Life dammit. The packaging is one of the coolest of any album I've seen. At least the digipack edition I have is.

I don't think Deliverance is lacking in atmosphere....well compared to other Opeth albums for the most part, but it's still got plenty. Especially BTPISIO.

The outro breakdown in Harlequin Forest is so awesome. I love the atmosphere created by the 'lead' part..So tense.

Just because I have the digipack. I don't know what any other editions look like. But the digipack, as I said, is one of the coolest looking albums I own.

If GR's revamped version doesn't have a digipack and extra artwork I'll be mad.

What the hell IS a digipack anyways? I've heard that phrase thrown around.

I think it's just the fold out case, instead of a jewel case. But the digipak versions usually come with bonus tracks or artwork, making it more special.

Yeah I thought a DigiPack had additonal things on it...

My Still Life is a fold out case one, but it's just got the 7 tracks on it...

It's just a generic term used to describe a re-release with re-mastered sound and usually some bonus material.

I loooooove those cardboard foldout cases. They seem so much nicer to me than the standard jewel cases. I wish all Opeth albums came in those, especially the old albums.
