If I had a featured artist series in R&M, it would probably be called "Get a Dload of this!" or something equally retarded.

The original name means I will probably read it. I can't think of anything original with my name in it :upset:

MXico Radio?

1.Sounds like Mexico Radio
2.Rhymes

Steerpike 07-03-2005 04:49 PM

It was a play of words off the song by the cult rock group Wall of Voodoo. It was their only hit, and was later covered by Celtic Frsot.

I think I'm going to run out of ideas on bands to do after only about 3-4 weeks of my series.

Just copy/paste your FA for one :p

I kind of head a series before when I made all those threads

Lord Abortion 07-03-2005 04:53 PM

Abortion's artists?

clearvision 07-03-2005 04:54 PM

...I think everyone is gonna run out of bands to do at the rate people are making threads...FA's were one thing, this is completeley another...

Not complaining, but soon people will be doing threads on everyone, it's good to be introduced to new bands...I really enjoyed Bartenders patton thread and a couple of others but soon i think there will be too many.

ATM 07-03-2005 04:55 PM

ArrestThisMan molests this band?

Six Foot Revolver 07-03-2005 04:55 PM
MXican Radio.
Mebbe I could do this and each week I could just upload tracks and put a bit about them :rubschininthoughtfulway:

That would be cool. An overview of the sound of a weekly band and a collection of uploads for the "radio" bit.

By the way, I felt like uploading Celtic Frost's cover of Mexican Radio since I don't have the original. It'll be ready in a couple minutes.

I decided to start up a series because I am the only one of the current group of people that will consistently do profiles on Classic rock artists. It seemed important that I represent that part of R&M while most others were focused on some part of metal.

I was more thinking random songs I had been digging over the week. Radio style some might say :rubschininthoughtfulway:

There you go.

Lord Abortion 07-03-2005 05:02 PM

I love blue streak...

anyone else watching it?

"who's this guy logan?"
" I dunno, all I know is he's gay... gay, gay, GAY!!"

Bartender 07-03-2005 05:04 PM
Maybe I could do a thread on Boy Hits Car. Now that band kicks some serious ***, but they only have one album out.
I believe they have a second now. It's self-released though, so it's only available from their website, I think. If this was a couple of years ago, I'd be really excited for it. As it is, I'll probably order it at some point, but without any real sense of anticipation.

Bought myself some CDs on the way home today;

Cocteau Twins - Victorialand
Blackalicious - Blazing Arrow
Public Enemy - Fear of a Black Planet
Wu Tang Clan - 36 Chambers

Damn sales.

NP Blackalicious - Blazing Arrow (the album)

Dr. Jake Destructo 07-03-2005 05:11 PM

Bart- Really? I've been on their website and the only thing that they have on there is their S/T.

I'm checking now...

EDIT: Apparently, there is a new album in the works. Sound clips here

Bartender 07-03-2005 05:12 PM

I haven't actually been to the site to confirm it; I just read something about it on Miocene's forums. Let me know if it is actually there.
Lord Abortion-Blue Streak was quite cool when I saw it the first time, then it got really boring next time I saw it. :-/ It's quite a cool film though.
there are some great lines in there though

"you wanna see those ridges imprinted in your ass?"

"no sir, I don't want to see the ridges"

Arucard 07-03-2005 05:30 PM

Wow, i had fun at a party tonight. I didn't get drunk, but i ate good BBQ and got so stoned its unreal. Generally i don't do drugs, but all of the trendy D+G kids persuaded me.

Also, Symphony X : Inferno (Unleash The Fire) could possibly be the best song ever.

Bartender 07-03-2005 05:31 PM

D+G?
Man, those are some seriously nice albums...how much did you get them for? I got the Blackalicious album courtesy of Zappa raving about it, and it's amazing. One of my favourite hip-hop albums out there, and the fact that DJ Shadow's involved just makes it even cooler.
Victorialand, Fear of a Black Planet and 36 Chambers were £4.99 each. Blazing Arrow was a bit more expensive (£8.99), but it was actually the first I picked up (more or less without hesitation, sadly enough), because of Zappa's love for it.

How is DJ Shadow involved with Blazing Arrow? I'm aware of a whole bunch of guest/involved artists, but not him.

Dr. Jake Destructo 07-03-2005 05:31 PM

Med- How was Live 8? I IM'd you about it, but you must have been away.*

*ignoring me. :(

Ibanez Slayer 07-03-2005 05:31 PM

yeah that was a good movie when you see it the first time. i like the ridges part, i also like the part when he says he has a fat cat in his pants.

Dr. Jake Destructo 07-03-2005 05:51 PM

Yeah, I didn't think you were ignoring me. Oh, and they put Mariah Carey in London just so that everyone could have a good bathroom break.

Bartender 07-03-2005 05:57 PM
I know he produced it, and I think he might have done something else with it, but I'm not sure. That's a really nice deal you got there, anyway, although I'm guessing you know that.
Yeah it is, thanks :) I've only listened to Blazing Arrow and Victorialand so far, though. For some reason, with two new albums sitting there waiting, I've started listening to our (my sister and I) collection of random downloaded stuff on my old home computer. So far I've been getting a mix of boyhitscar, Brad Paisley, Brand New, Breed 77, Brian Setzer and his Orchestra, Bright Eyes and that guitarified cover of Toxic. Hurrah.
Yeah, well the death heads thread has always been a slower thread (until recently, anyway). Besides which, this thread has a predecessor with 60,000 posts already.
