Silverchair! I don't why.. I love them.
|
So what band is everyone hooked on right now?
I'm still on my Agalloch binge.
Still hooked on Metallica, of course. But I've been listening to a lot of Guns N' Roses lately. Appetite for Destruction was really good :thumb: You guys know the song Nighttrain? Is it just me or do the guitars in the intro sound out of tune a little bit? |
Evergrey, as of late. Monday Morning Apocalypse is awesome...much less proggy than their other stuff, but almost as good.
|
I'm just going to ask for everyone to guess which band I'm stuck on...
|
Ohh I can't guess.
Mine's In Flames. |
Yea I have no clue.
Happy, how do you like their newest album? |
I listen to more stuff though. Just not as much...
Happy, I thought you were sarcastic, are you ? |
I listen to more stuff though. Just not as much...
you should emphasize that second sentence :p |

Mine is the Drones.

Heh :p Hmm, I would say about...50 % maybe of what I listen to is Iced Earth. Rough estimate...mayb less, maybe more... |
Mine is the Drones.
Wait Long by the River.. is great, for the most part. It's all I know, though. |
i haven't been on a binge of any particular bands recently, mainly just power metal
i've listened to my 2 Lost Horizon albums about 4 times each this week, so i suppose that could be my binge band. ooh, dinnertime. :) |
I've been binging on Boris lately. They're weird enough to attract my attention and diverse enough to keep it.
|
Boris?
i'm listening to Blind Guardian's Nightfall in Middle-Earth now :) NP: Nightfall. |
I just got my hands on some live Who material from 1971, so I've been digging that lately.
|
Mastodon, Exodus, and more Buckethead. I have every solo album by him save for one.
|
Boris?
Japanese drone/noise/stoner rock/psychadelic/alternative rock band named after a Melvins song. If you want to check them out, I recommend the album Akuma No Uta. It's got a little bit of everything.

ive been diggin in flames a lot actually. Kinda surprised me tbh

the closest i really go for that sort of stuff is QOTSA, i've never really liked the sound of drone, but some alternative rock stuff is good, so maybe i'll check them out one day. :) in random news, i saw the video for RHCP - Dani California today. what a random video, although i did enjoy the whole "take-the-piss-out-of-other-bands" theme of it. plus, it's a good song :) |

I need to get that! I've been listening to a lot of Cynic, Impaled, The Autumn Offering, Exodus, and Dissection as of late. |

I don't mean to sound like a fanboy, but I can't help it. I'm glad you're liking them, I love them :D. |

Yeah I wasn't expecting much when I first heard them but they blew me away. |
Hehe, which stuff have you guys been listening to by In Flames?
I'm very partial to Subterranean and Whoracle . |
fuk the fanboy hate man
if i like a band, theres no pretending. What i DID like about In Flames was that ambient type sounds they had during their choruses. It actually gave the song more of a progressive feel than some mindless chugga chugga |
I don't mean to sound like a fanboy, but I can't help it.
I'm glad you're liking them, I love them :D.
So do I :) |
Hehe, yes. I can't really hide my fanboyism.
I think a lot of the times kids go into In Flames thinking that it's gonna be generic and such because they've gotten so big (for metal) and so many kids hate them for that reason soley. By the ambient sounds in choruses, I'm guessing you mean the newer stuff?
So do I :)
Yes, you're also one of the few R2R lovers :). |
the only one i have is thta sound track to your _____
id |
what exactly are In Flames like?
|
hmmm...
interesting question Josh. the rhythm progressions are more complicated than most. The lyrics change up very nice. A little emo-ish "angst" at times, but i dont take it to heart. |
Che: Soundtrack's a great album, but you should seriously check out the older stuff son :).
Josh: If you've heard any of the newer American bands who have pretty cool guitarwork, but keep ending up sounding generic and corny, you've got the basic gist... except they don't suck, and thus don't end up sounding generic and corny. |
what exactly are In Flames like?
I think their sound is pretty unique. But then again I haven't heard much Gothenburg stuff. They have amazing melodies. I wish I could write like them. |

They have amazing melodies. I wish I could write like them.
Almost every Gothenburg band I've heard has been very unique in their own aspects... they have a similar style, but they all sound so different (minus Darkest Hour and At The Gates who sound nearly exactly the same but are still two of my favorite bands). |
i might have to check out In Flames then, i'll see if any of their stuff has gone out in the Daily Upload recently i think.
EDIT: found a link for Whoracle, i'm getting it now :) |
what exactly are In Flames like?
they're like music. :p |
/In Flames
Never really got into them away from the live setting. I have seen them live twice now though, good fun both times. NP:Claude Debussy - Etudes pour Piano - 5. In octaves |
Whoa.
I just found out I'm related to one of my best friends. Trippy. |
