Dried Muffin Remnants 09-03-2005 10:38 PM
Yesterday, I was driving around with my friend, listening to Hooker, I think, and I was telling him about what Die Eier Von Satan meant, and also how "und kiene eier" meant AND NO EGGS! I then put Die Eier Von Satan on, and at the end, when Maynard whispers "und kiene eier" in that extremely devilish voice, we both just looked at each other for a couple seconds and then just burst out laughing.

Kage, since you're in AP German, could you translate all of Die Eier? :-D
Adorable.

Killtacular 09-03-2005 10:39 PM
I vote for Und Kiene <new tool in german> for the thread title.
That's what I was referring to. It confused my fragile mind.
987 is some number in the Fibonacci sequence. I'm unaware of sacred geometry in that song.

Kage 09-03-2005 10:40 PM

I just realized I reached 4,000 posts. Awesome.

Killtacular 09-03-2005 10:43 PM

You get a thumb.
The Eggs of Satan

Half a cup of powdered sugar
One quarter teaspoo salt
One knifetip Turkish hash
Half a pound butter
One teaspoon vanilla-sugar
Half a pound flour
150 g ground nuts
A little extra powdered sugar
... and no eggs

Place in a bowl
Add butter
Add the ground nuts and
Knead the dough

Form eyeball-size pieces from the dough
Roll in the powdered sugar
and say the Magic Words:
'Sim sala bim bamba sala do saladim'

Place on a greased baking pan and
Bake at 200 degrees for 15 minutes
...AND NO EGGS

Bake at 200 degrees for 15 minutes
...and no eggs.
GG Kage!

Scruples- Ah, I never looked at it as actually being nine hundred and eighty-seven. I'm not going to spend the time to add up all of those digits until I reach that point, but I'll see if you're correct on this. And just for the record, out of the three individual numbers, eight is the only number that occurs in the sequence.

Adguy-Callate tu boca despues como tu cara, pinche puto.

Right you are, but it would have been wayy cooller to write a song in alternating bars of three, seven and seven. :p

Kage 09-03-2005 10:46 PM

So, based on that translation, you can see why I wouldn't know a lot of the words in there. But, yeah, there you go.

Dr. Jake Destructo 09-03-2005 10:51 PM

Man, I knew sim sala bim bamba sala do salim didn't sound like German. Wahah.

Ok, now the thing that is puzzling me is this- Why the crap would this recipe be in German if the units are "tablespoons?" That is one of the most English units of measurement out there. Stupid Tool.

Kage 09-03-2005 10:54 PM

That's a good point...hold on, let me look at the German lyrics real fast.

adioviva 09-03-2005 10:58 PM

I'm alright at german. CHECK IT:

Der panzerkampfwagon ist verboten. Auf Wiedesein. Ich versherer keine deutsche.
EDIT: Oh, and about these sacred geometric time sigs- Nope, sorry. Maynard wrote the lyrics to Lateralus in the Fibonacci sequence, but the song is in 12/8 time, which really has not a whole to do with sacred geomotry. Also, Danny Carey's drum pattern also somehow progresses along with this pattern, but I'm not a drummer, so I have no clue how to dissect his drumming.
Okay, here's how it stands on the time signatures for the song Lateralus:

1. The song opens with Adam's repeating guitar line in 4/4.
2. The heavy stuff kicks in, with Adam and Justin playing parts 6/8 while Danny's drum beat consists of a measure of 9/8, followed by a measure of 8/8. followed by a mesure of 7/8. This is repeated three times.
3. In the first verse, the drums play in 4/4, and then in 5/4.
4. The heavy part is repeated for the chorus (9/8, 8/8. 7/8).
5. The verses are repeated, pretty much the same.
6. The heavy part is repeated for the second chorus (again, the stuff in 9/8, 8/8. 7/8). This time, the third repetition has a guitar solo instead of Maynard's lyrics.
7. The solo continues with a secondary part in 3/4.
8. After Justin's repeated bassline, Adam's guitar part from the first minute-and-a-half is again repeated. However, Danny does something incredibly cool by playing a beat in 5/4 over Adam and Justin's 4/4 parts. This gives it a very different, slightly confusing sound.
9. The song finishes with the big end stuff in 6/8.

Ta-da. So all in all, at different points, the song Lateralus is in 3/4, 4/4, 5/4, 6/8, 7/8, 8/8, and 9/8.

Basically, one hell of a song.

EDIT:
I really, really hope somebody reads this!

Que se dice? Lo siento, pero no hablo mucho de que estas hablando. Solo tengo los clases de Espanol, tambien, mi escuela no tiene un clase para hablar tu lingua.

Tambien, lo siento para no acentos o otra gramatica.

BlindWriting- Thanks for that. I've always been under the impression that the verse is in 12/8. Oh, and I did read it all. :)

Forty Six & Tool is great, but N00bs will be searching for the word tool at the front of the thread name, hence why I chose 'Tool - Be patient' as it has tool first. Shameless plugging ++
Then why not Tool & 46?

Doesn't have the same ring to it. :(

How about Tool- The Bethlehem Abortion Clinic? Totally forgot about AJIG's idea. :-D

BlindWriting 09-03-2005 11:45 PM

I'm actually liking "Spiral Out – The Tool Thread" the best at this point.

Darkness 09-03-2005 11:46 PM

I like "Tool" "Tool - Spiral Out" and AJIGs is good to.

adioviva 09-03-2005 11:52 PM
Really? I was told it ment balls, and always thought that... I never thought to question.
You can translate 'Eier' either with "eggs" or "balls", but in the context with the song it has to be "eggs" because it is a recipe for 'marihuana cookies'. :thumb: though i don't know if it works - when you bake cookies you have to use 'Eier' and maynard sings 'Keine Eier".

Prince of Darkness 09-04-2005 03:47 AM

We still haven't come to dicission about the thread name. It most definatly can't stay Rock & Metal's Tool thread. So we make a thread, with a poll(duh) and let's settle this.
Title: Tool Thread Name Change.

After each choice, you add the creator's username. Then, when a winner is chosen, the user responsible, will be praised.

Then everybody should post their ideas here for recap.

What do you think?(I would like to stand up to the challenge, if we decide to do it.) :thumb:
