oh... good thing i never tried.

_Mote_ 12-18-2006 04:42 PM

Interesting that you downloaded the advance wma program then :p

Anxious 12-18-2006 04:49 PM

Cheapest cd quality music -

Buy a bigger hard drive.

Get an OiNK invite

download only in FLAC.

Rabbi 12-18-2006 04:53 PM

you can get FLACs for free with torrents... but how do you get OiNK/what is it?

Kage 12-18-2006 04:54 PM

OiNK is a highly esoteric website of peer2peer music sharing through torrents. It's an amazing site but tough to get an invite. You're also required a minimum share ratio, etc.

Rabbi 12-18-2006 04:57 PM

ugh, i hate uploading.

and i still cant get into the reviews... getting an error!

JonM 12-18-2006 05:32 PM

So here's a question. I got home from school and I realized that I have hundreds of CDs that I haven't played once since I imported them to my computer. It occurred to me that CD stores would pay cash money for
these CDs, whereupon I would be able to buy more CDs, import them, and repeat the process, getting tons of music legally and cheaply. Doesn't this seem like a good idea? Obviously there are a few CDs I'm attached to, but for the most part I wouldn't mind not having the hard copy of these albums. I back up regularly, so losing the tunes is not a concern. Is there some good reason to keep CDs that I'm overlooking?

_Mote_ 12-18-2006 05:35 PM

It will work for a while, but usually record stores only give you 2 or 3 bucks per CD. It will work for a good amount of time, but it will die out eventually.

But given those plusses, I'd do it if you want to.

Kayetan 12-18-2006 05:36 PM

I don't think so, unless you have to send your mp3 player in for a repair or something, like me. Then you'll be stuck using cds for a couple weeks, and you might now have good ones.

What do you use to back up files?

Kage 12-18-2006 05:37 PM

Well a big CD collection could easily impress a lot of people.

Eliminator 12-18-2006 05:38 PM

I don't really like getting rid of CDs.

_Mote_ 12-18-2006 05:46 PM

The only CDs I've ever sold were Lynard Skynard Greatest Hits and a Hoobastank CD.

As you can see, I desperatly needed to get rid of those.

Electrocution 12-18-2006 05:48 PM

the cds i tried to sell were so bad i couldn't get a store to buy them.

Kyle 12-18-2006 05:49 PM

I get all sentimental about CD's.........I could never lose them.

JonM 12-18-2006 05:49 PM
It will work for a while, but usually record stores only give you 2 or 3 bucks per CD. It will work for a good amount of time, but it will die out eventually.
Yeah, but I'd still get a bunch of CDs out of the deal.

I'm glad I can respond to you without getting banned again.
What do you use to back up files?
I just drag the library folder to my external hard drive and let it copy.
Well a big CD collection could easily impress a lot of people.
Yes, this is my only reservation. But most of the people I need to impress are at school, and I don't have the CDs there anyway.

Speaking of which, I've talked things over with Zappa on AIM, and I've worked things out, and I'm going to make a strong attempt to be a bit more laxxed on the forums. So I request that people take me off their ignore lists. The choice is ultimately up to them, but I just want people to know that I don't pose a thread of spam to this board anymore.

And can someone repost this so that people that put my on their ignore list can see this?

Thanks.

Kyle 12-18-2006 05:55 PM

_Mote_ has the following to say.....

Congrats DMD, you did it, you freed _Mote_

Bartender 12-18-2006 06:02 PM

I think I've got some kind of compulsion towards collection, CDs or otherwise. I've always collected something; in RPGs I'm the kind of player who tries to keep one of everything he finds on a shelf in some random city, so I can go back and look at them from time to time. So I don't understand the practice of buying albums, listening to/copying them, selling them to a second-hand store for a fraction of the price and buying more with the proceeds with which to repeat the process.

But other people doing it gives me (for a few days a year, anyway) the chance to buy otherwise brand new albums for low, low prices. So I'm torn as to whether or not to support your plan.

br3ad_man 12-18-2006 06:14 PM

I don't ever sell my cds. Even if there's something embarassing in my collection that I hate, I just put it in a cupboard somewhere.

bleep_bloop 12-18-2006 06:14 PM
yea, i havn't made sure of them yet; i'm listening to them quietly cuz it's 2:00 am so I'll give them a shot 'morrow after finals and figure out whether I can see myself listening to them or not. What music are you into bleep?
It's good to have a crapload of records around your house/apartment/whatever, because when you bring back chicks they're all impressed and jumped on your willy.

Havn't seen that film yet...I really want too....the soundtrack is pretty neat though.

br3ad_man 12-18-2006 11:49 PM

I just watched The Squid and the Whale, finally. It's probably in my top 5 for the year.

Yeah, good film.

Electronic Wolf 12-19-2006 12:39 AM

I watched that film with my friend and he looks a little bit like the older kid in the movie except not really, but it's definitely there. It was cool and stuff. I liked how the little kid used to wipe his cum on the books in the library.

Little Man being Erased 12-19-2006 12:44 AM

so pitchfork gave "My Love" the no. 1 song of the year. cool.

Electronic Wolf 12-19-2006 12:51 AM

My friends think it's weird that I listen to Justin Timberlake, but they don't understand.

FA 12-19-2006 02:00 AM

i can listen to "my love", i like the "guhguh geeh-geeh geeh geeh" sound in the song....listen and say this aloud, you'll understand
