Jump in the Fire is my favorite song off Kill 'Em All. I dont know if thats the hardest solo though

superpeer 04-20-2004 01:59 PM

Four horsemen is the best on Kill 'em All.

Burdcheese 04-20-2004 02:55 PM

does anyone know kirk hammets amp settings?

superpeer 04-21-2004 10:12 AM

He pushes the 'metallica' button.

SlaveToTheGrind 04-21-2004 10:33 AM

He has two seperate buttons. one for st anger and one for the other songs

SlaveToTheGrind 04-21-2004 10:37 AM

^^^ just turn the mids down, the highs up, and the bass somewhere Ã*n the middle

superpeer 04-21-2004 10:41 AM

www.rockwerchter.be

I'm seeing metallica and all those other bands.

w00pt.

SlaveToTheGrind 04-21-2004 10:44 AM

the site doesn't work :( what bands will play there?

Morning_Glory 04-21-2004 11:10 AM

looking back at page 114 someone said slayer wasnt the fastest solo, have you heard angel of death, total guitar didnt even bother typing it out because it is that fast.
Kerry king who has played for years upon years who wrote the solo even says he has to warm up for hours before that and they have to play the song last on the stage show because it cramps his hand up and he cannot play guitar after playing that solo. And he cant even play it to full speed and perfectly.

superpeer 04-21-2004 11:15 AM
the site doesn't work :( what bands will play there?
Site works for me. :amaze:

It's in a pop-up though, maybe you have a pop-up stopper.

There are only like 3 metalbands coming though, so If you Don't like other stuff.

Just because Kerry is so bad he cant even play his own "fast" solos, it doesnt mean theyre the FASTEST at all. You compare any of the proper shredders to King and you'll see he is actually poor.

That is one of the oddest line-ups i've seen...
Metallica, the Wu-Tang Clan and the Sugababes at the same festival?

Pretty impressive in a skewed way.

the kill em all solos are all quite simple compared to stuff on ajfa, mop and rtl. kirk didnt have much experience on kem but the hardest is probably the four horsemen

btoto 04-22-2004 04:29 AM

no hell. the second 4 horsemen solo is the only thing i can play from KEA.
so i don't think it's the hardest

drayax 04-22-2004 04:35 AM

hey people...new to the thread,
my fav album song has to be either fade to black or master of puppets.
One is excellent live especially on the S&M album, the orchestra adds so much more power to the song and kirks solos in it dont seem to sound as hollow as they do on the recorded version.
Although St. Anger isnt their best album it doesnt meen it is crap, i dont like to compare the albums from their diferant eras, as far as i am concerned there is the kill 'em all to black album metallica, the load and reload metallica and the St' Anger metallica. it isnt really fair to compare from those and say that one is crap coz it doesnt match up to earlier stuff coz its quite simply a differant style...i hate it when people say that load and reload are crap coz they really rnt, there is sum great songs on those albums (memory remains, mama said, unforgiven 2until it sleeps...need i go on?)

lars is deffinatly my favourite member...his drummin style is so unique. the only dig i have atm is Rob Trujillo he's a talented player he just doesnt really fit in to metallica

anyway im done for now

DimebagDarrell 04-22-2004 05:42 AM

Caralho Ricochet 04-22-2004 05:48 AM

the best met solo is unforgiven, though i dun really like the rest of the song it makes no sense
the best met solo is unforgiven, though i dun really like the rest of the song it makes no sense
im in the process of learning the solo to unforgiven its quite hard i can play all the interlude and abit of the solo but its speeds up for a bit and jeeeez i cant play it yet :( i duno what you mean about the song not making sense tho

Caralho Ricochet 04-22-2004 05:51 AM
the best met solo is unforgiven, though i dun really like the rest of the song it makes no sense
in a melodic sense, the fastest one i love is the whoe trapped under ice thing

You know it.

Metallicat 04-22-2004 08:49 AM

The Unforgiven solo is my favorite solo. Just the way he bends the notes gives such a powerful impact IMO.

Metallicat 04-22-2004 08:51 AM

It makes sense, you just don't understand it.
http://www.geocities.com/metallicmessiah/meanings_black.html#unforgiven
The song is about a man growing up in society.

I love the lyrics to that song. Not only is it well written but it's got emotion.

Photophobic 04-22-2004 10:17 AM

That song is brilliant, both voacly and lyricaly. And the music is awesome. (especially the drums. playing soft songs on the drums and still being original is hard, but Lars does it well)

superpeer 04-22-2004 10:31 AM

I think the lyrics were pretty obvious.

SonofHetfield 04-22-2004 12:52 PM

What an awesome idea to discuss and pay tribute to the masters of metal, the people, the band the music, the phenomenon that is Metallica, as said best by Chris Ingram the author of the book Nothing Else Matters: The Stories Behind The Biggest Songs. I just finished the book and its a must read/have for any Metallica junkie. What do I love about Metallica, the speed, the volume, the lyrics, the simplicity that is at the same time complicated and extremely technical. The time changes, the choruses with melody lines, the intensity of Hetfield, the over the top solos of Kirk, the mouth of Lars, a publicists dream, Robert Trujillo is awesome and Newested did his part, but neither rival Burton the original. Metallica's story is a great one! My favorite Metallica song, having to choose makes me want to cry haha. The black album housed some of the greatest music the world had ever seen and then the load reload era picked up new fans as well and lost some of the old ones. My Favorite Metallica album is probably Master of Puppets, with a manipulation theme or undertone if you will, it is a lyrical/musical masterpeice in the opinion of this guitarist anyway. From the layered spanish guitars on the intro of Battery, to the ferocity of the thrashing guitars and whispered title in Damage Inc. This album is a 100% *** kicker. Okay I have decided ill give ya my favorite from each album and you can tell me what you think.
The Four Horsemen/Kill 'Em All
For Whom the Bell Tolls/Ride the Lightning
Master of Puppets/ Master of Puppets (don't worry Battery gets its props later)
One/Ride the Lightning
Sad But True or Wherever I My Roam/Metallica (aka Black Album)
Ain't My Bitch/Load
The Memory Remains/Re-Load
Crashcourse in Brain Surgery/Garage Days Re-Visited
So What/Garage Inc.
Battery/ S&M (This album is the most powerful music you'll ever hear in your life, the orchestra and the full on amplification is just for lack of words F*ckin Awesome.)
The Unnamed Feeling or Frantic/St. Anger
Well I guess i have taken up enough room on this post. I want to make it clear that I am not knocking anything Metallica has ever made, I love every song on every album just about, these are simply the ones that get themost airtime on my axe, and in my stereo. Hit me back and lets talk some Metallica. I haven't broken the surface on the amount of time i could talk about these guys!! Until next time ill end in Master of Puppets fashion......with Psychotic lughter hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!

I definately understand what you are saying about Trujillo, he is without a doubt talented, but have you seen them live since hes been with them, he kind of seems alienated on stage. I know that No one did it like clliff, and my era knew Jason Newsted as a face of metallica, and I think that the reason St. Anger had such bad reviews is becasue everybody thought that metallica had faltered and failed, and then they didnt so everyone decided they couldnt be the same so it they must suck because of the changes that the band and its members had been through. Hetfield's stint in rehab, Newsted's departure, Trujillo's induction, and album written completely in odd tunings with no solos and a different vocal styling by James, led to discomfort for some. But people like you and i agree that you can compare now to then because it was a different time with different people and a different Metallica, They are doing there thing and you gotta respect them for it. St. Anger isn't my favorite, but its not crap either.

sMURFJEW 04-22-2004 02:12 PM

Disposible heros off the MOP album is such a cool song. I love it, especially the solo.
