Apocalyptic Raids 03-25-2006 05:58 AM

Well it is, but not for Slayer.
Well it is, but not for Slayer.
So you don't think Slayers solos are good?

purgatory 03-25-2006 08:07 AM
What?
Slayers own annual tour, kinda like Ozzfest. They could call it Slayerfest or something else i dont know lol.
So you don't think Slayers solos are good?
Not particularly.

SimonCore 03-25-2006 09:36 AM
Slayers own annual tour, kinda like Ozzfest. They could call it Slayerfest or something else i dont know lol.
They do headline it, and there's no reason why it has to contain 'Slayer'. And if it was called Slayerfest i would probably cry.

Rattlehead 03-25-2006 10:49 AM

Slayer solos own. Kerry kicks a*s, but i can understand why one might not like them, as they are somewhat atonal at times, and Kerry often totally leaves the chord sequences and it sounds weird. but i love it,:thumb: :thumb:

SimonCore 03-25-2006 10:55 AM

Jeff is probably the better gutiarist.

Rattlehead 03-25-2006 10:59 AM

i wouldnt know, i just relate the solo's to Kerry. he does them all doesn't he?

SimonCore 03-25-2006 11:01 AM
i wouldnt know, i just relate the solo's to Kerry. he does them all doesn't he?
oh no no. They do half and half. Generally, Jeff's are the fast shred ones, and Kings are the more technical effecty ones.

Rattlehead 03-25-2006 11:05 AM

oh right cool. so what's Jeff's surname?

SimonCore 03-25-2006 11:07 AM

^Hannenman.

Rattlehead 03-25-2006 01:05 PM

i really love the album Show No Mercy, but the last three songs are incredible.

SimonCore 03-25-2006 02:49 PM

^hmmm. I think Show no Mercy is a little overated. If i had to choose 5 out of the 10 Slayer albums to keep i'd choose: 1.Seasons in the Abyss 2.Reign in blood 3.GHUA 4. South of Heaven 5.Hell awaits.........or Divin intervention

Rattlehead 03-25-2006 03:12 PM

absolutely, i wasnt saying it was my fav., its just the last four kick a*s... and i second your list there.:thumb:

Mr. Black 03-25-2006 04:27 PM

I bought Reign in Blood today, my first Slayer purchase.

It's real aural punishment.

SimonCore 03-25-2006 04:35 PM
I bought Reign in Blood today, my first Slayer purchase.

You saying you don't like it?

Mr. Black 03-25-2006 05:20 PM
You saying you don't like it?
It's different, but yeah, I love it.

and when I say different, I mean it's so fast and the solo's are weird.

Stoo 03-25-2006 05:22 PM

Yea I thought the solo's were odd aswell.

Mr. Black 03-25-2006 05:26 PM

Are they like that on all the albums, cos I have to admit, they started to annoy me a little in the end.

Bazarov 03-25-2006 08:20 PM

Yes, most of Slayer's solos are "out of place". But I love their solos, I think it adds to the insane audio assault that is Slayer.

Though at one time I didn't like the solos.

Apocalyptic Raids 03-25-2006 08:24 PM

It's not that the solos are out of place or don't suit the style.

Let's just say that I don't listen to Slayer for the guitar solos.

Bazarov 03-25-2006 08:30 PM

Maybe I should have said random, I've heard both "out of place" and "random" for their solos.

Anyway, Jeff and Kerry are better at writing rythm than solos.

Rounder 03-25-2006 09:18 PM

same here
Anyway, Jeff and Kerry are better at writing rythm than solos.
agreed

superflyjojo 03-25-2006 11:18 PM

Does anyone else think that Kerry's solo in War Ensemble (the second solo in the song) is the best solo Slayer has ever had? It also is actually in the same key (for the most part) as the rest of the song.

Apocalyptic Raids 03-25-2006 11:31 PM

The Antichrist has my favourite Slayer solos.

superflyjojo 03-25-2006 11:34 PM
The Antichrist has my favourite Slayer solos.
Jeff's solo in that song is one of my favorites.

Bazarov 03-25-2006 11:37 PM

Yup, the second solo in The Antichrist is my favorite solo by Slayer. I like the solos in Necrophiliac as well.

NP: Hell Awaits

Crysiss 03-26-2006 12:15 AM

At least Kerry knows that the solos are out of place amirite?

Bazarov 03-26-2006 12:17 AM

I guess. I don't really think he even thinks about the solos. He said that most of the time when he writes a solo, he just plays the track and records himself improvising and then fixes some parts here or there and then the solo is done.

purgatory 03-26-2006 01:45 AM

Thats just the first thing that i came up with, and I didnt want to think for hours about a nice annual tour name lol.

heavy metal kid 03-26-2006 01:49 AM

I just got the Show No Mercy album, the music itīs very interesting...but the photos made me laugh.

purgatory 03-26-2006 01:56 AM

Show No Mercy is really good. My favorite album would be God Hates Us All or Reign In Blood. Those are the most POWERFUL records!

I would say South of Heaven and Reing in Blood are the best, people are 50-50 when it comes to RIB, some say itīs good, same say itīs bad. I think itīs overrated but it is still damn good.

purgatory 03-26-2006 03:06 AM

South of Heaven is good, but its a slower not as thrashy album i think. Well, i take that back some tracks are very thrash.

Indeed, SOH is slow compared to their early stuff, but in my opinion the album has more variety and versatility than any other Slayer album.

Apocalyptic Raids 03-26-2006 03:17 AM

I prefer RIB.

SOH is great too, but RIB is classic +1.

I'm loving this.

Np - Jesus Saves.

SimonCore 03-26-2006 03:23 AM

RIB > SOH. But SOH has better single tracks, where as RIB is just generally a good album with two amazing tracks. Ya get me?

Mr. Black 03-26-2006 03:33 AM
RIB > SOH. But SOH has better single tracks, where as RIB is just generally a good album with two amazing tracks. Ya get me?
Angel of Death and Raining Blood, amarite?

SimonCore 03-26-2006 03:35 AM

^Yup. What i'm saying is SOH has a good track, then an ok one, then an another good track etc. Whereas RiB has two really amazing tracks, and the rest are generally very good.
