The geeks shall inherit the earth.
Dude, my dad would love you to death. He's a Chemistry professor at a college and is so zealous about Science it's not funny. :p He wanted me to go Chemistry or Biology until I told him I wanted to be an engineer of some sort, at which point he mentioned Biomedical Engineers. I'm sold. :p
What college? Right now, I'm into pyrotechnics. I'm 16, and know how to make a plastique out of nothing but a few common chemicals (sulfuric acid [drano], crushed asprin, menthyl alcohol [wood alcohol], any nitrate [potassium nitrate, a common chemical that makes up 75% of gunpowder, or anything that has an NO3 at the end, a nitrate ion], and water), but I would never make a bomb. Bombs hurt people and destruct property. I was 12 when I could fully explain a nuclear bomb to anybody   Of course, I didn't know what half of it meant  But yeah, now I'm really into pyrotechnics. I make fireworks all the time. I make my own chemicals and gunpowder and stuff. It's a great hobby. If you like science and fire (I'm a literal pyromaniac), and you're very interested in reading and learning about doing processes right, then pyro is the hobby for you :thumb: -Gav |
Sorry for the presumption but I'm pretty sure my dad is up there at least. He's a doctor so I never see him (always at work, always so pissed off when he comes home). Actually, that's not true. I see him just enough that whatever I'm doing isn't enough for him. I've perennially dissapointed my father. I got a 97% final mark in OAC (Grade 13 in ontario) Finite Mathematics and all he had to say was "Where's the other three percent?". He was serious. He used to hit me, but now I'm bigger than he is. He once told me and my brother that if he and my mom got divorced it was our fault. The fact that I work 48+ hours every week doesn't matter to him, he expects me to do more than that at home. He gets pissed off every time I go out with friends to party. When I was seriously depressed in high school (my doctor was worried about me committing suicide) he told me to suck it up despite the fact that he uses his depression as an excuse every time he gets mad.
And the worst part is that it still hurts like nothing else when I dissappoint him.
I feel that. No matter what it's just not good enough. |
I've been trying as hard as I can to overcome writers block for this one piece I'm writing, and I think just in the past 5 minutes it started to work, finally. I'd like to hear it. |

BIOCHEM <333 Oh man, so interesting and complex. I love it. I wish I knew more, I only know the bare bones :upset: -Gav |
Kandyman, it's hard since MOST girls are like that here. :p Except for the prize few...example: a girl I know is one of the most beautiful gals I've ever met/known/seen, and she plays BASS and is pretty smart. :O She's also sorta slutty.
"Hey Ted, I have a hickey." "Ohh, got yourself a boyfriend?" "? No..." :p |
hey heather, you ever on MSN?(I think thats what it's called)
I then proceeded to tell her about the "birds and the bees." I know all girls aren't like this, but when she said "I'm bored, I wish I had someone to make out with. One time we can "get together and get it on, if u no what i mean." it really ruined it for me. Two reasons:
1) I have seen girls other than her like this where I live. 2) Girls I don't find me attractive; usually I'm "just a friend." For THIS particular to take in interest in me REALLY ruins it for me. I don't want to date for a few years now. How's until I die sound? :p
Dude, don't give up on dating. Despite the potential for disaster it's one of the most fun experiences out there. And you know what, be shallow at least once. Next time somebody says something like that, hit it. Seriously. As long as nobody gets hurt, what's the harm? |

I seriously don't think thats a good idea. This may sound puritan, but sex is something special, or at least it should be. Maybe I'm too old for this place |

Bring it :p :) :upset:
My father was a speed addict at one point.. but I wasn't alive yet. Abusive.. check Alcoholic... Iffy Showed Favoritism... check.. except I am the sister.. but it was only monetarily. Lets see. See.. I can't actually list it... aside from being emtionally, physically, mentally, and verbally abusive... its like this... One day I came home and they bought me a $350 amp.. without my asking/knowing..but if I need to go to the doctors.. they throw a fit. Like when doctors were threatening to hospitalize me so they can give me pennicillian (which I am allergic to) so that they could get rid of the strep throat I had for four months...my dad said he wasn't going to pay for it. I disagree. I choose to distinguish between love and sex. Love is something special, sex is an activity two consenting people choose to participate in. It's a physical thing absolutely but not neccesarily and emotional thing. And before you go saying you're too old, I'm 20. I don't believe love is neccessary for sex, although vice versa is usually true. |

ahh... so many common topics with me here tonight. my parents are perpetally dissapointed with me, to the point of me just not trying in school any more. and it worries me, for my future, for college.
dating too.... ive been single for over a year, and looking, and now just recently found a girl i think i could stand, and im excited about it. sadly she is gone till sunday, but once she gets back we are going to see the manchurian candidate. and on the topic of weeks.... i got to move all the furniture out of my room and computer area today. so im sitting on a really uncomfortable chair right now. i wanted to set up my computer to check MX, and, well here i am. oh, and i watched a movie tonight that relates to a lot of emotions being presented here tonight. its call Love Liza, check it out. |

Man theses threads fill up really fast :(

I've been sort of lucky with my parents (me? LUCKY? *laughs hard in real life*); they're often sorta even when it comes to me with my brother, but often times they *refuse* to believe me if something happens, that he did.
Example: *me panting and with bloodshot eyes* "Mom, dad...EVAN JUST TRIED TO ******* KILL ME." Mom: "Ted...Jesus Christ..." My brother has horrible anger problems. Like yesterday, I was talking CrapDragoon on AIM and my brother jumped me from behind, and hit me with a folded chair because I wouldn't burn some game for him. >_< |

H2O + H2O --> H3O(+) + OH(-) ---> 2H2O Basically, two water molecules combine to form a positive hydronium cation and a negative hydroxide ion...this, in turn, yields two water molecules. The process is on going. If you know anything about chemistry, you'll say "holy ****" and realize the importance of that... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hydronium -Gav |

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hydronium -Gav
It's more properly expressed as 2H20 <---> H30(+) + (OH(-) since it's an equilibrium. The actuall equilibirum can be expressed mathematically and depends on the constant (K) which is dependant on factors such as temperature and pressure. Hydronium ions are a big part of Acid-Base reactions, and water can act as either an acid or a base depending on what else is present in solution. Edit: Acid-Base reactions are a good part of our Chem 121 course in conjunction with Equilibria and solubility reactions. |

yeah i dig. things were nice in 9th grade, i had a girl for 7 months, and then i screwed that up by doing some drugs (and am now clean). and then i went to highschool, and thought "oh, plenty of girls, there is a whole other jr high going to combine with us"..... but alas, nothing good came of it. but like i said, things are looking up now. |
