He was wearing a dark blue one with a leather jacket. :D Tom was wearing his Unite hat.

Guys, guys, guys. Calgary is better than Edmonton, and I'm from Winnipeg so I'm not biased. Anyway, pick shirts are gay.

Nope. I actually don't live in Edmonton  I live just outside of a place called Sherwood Park, which is about 15 min away from Edmonton. From my house its about a half an hour to get anywhere decent in the city. But Sherwood Park kicks ass to, largest Hamlet in the world.

Thats where Jarome Iginala is from. Still Calgary is better. All in all though, Winnipeg is awesome. :thumb:

I've never been there. Jarome Iginla.. Go Flames.

Anyways, I'm listening to Sleep Now in the Fire. Rage Against the Machine rock.

Always a good song choice, but I still think Calm Like A Bomb is the best song off of BoLA.

iBENezrocker 10-04-2005 05:31 AM

The Bass intro on Calm Like A Bomb just annoys me, I think it sounds silly. Not sure why just does. Rage is why I picked up a bass though however. Give me bombtrack any day

The bass intro was great, it makes it different from the rest of the songs.

Popup-Box 10-04-2005 05:53 AM

I am impressed by the originality of this band.

In addition to that, what did they do to reach that unbelievable high level of groove which appear in many of their songs (ie. Bullet In The Head, Snakecharmer, Bulls On Parade, almost all of them!)

I haven't heard many bands with a similar sense of rhythm.

They are talented, obviously, but could it be 4/4 swing rhythms that I hear opposed to regular 4/4?

Any inputs?

Popup-Box 10-04-2005 12:07 PM

Let's hope someone checks out this one soon.

Yea, I agree. Extremely groovy/funky music. Don't know about the 4/4 rhythm things.

Well, there must be SOMETHING extra to it. Their music IS that groovy, in my opinon.

take the power back :thumb: :naughty:

Self-titled is definately the best of the albums. I listen to it all the time, it never gets old. As for rage reforming..I doubt it. :upset: but at least we still have audioslave eh??

Popup-Box 10-04-2005 04:04 PM

Audioslave is also another groovy group, not very surprising considering it consists of 3/4 of Rage Against the Machine.

There's something about Zack De LaRocha's aggression I like, however, you can't deny the fact that the Audioslave vocalist (Chris Cornell, correct name?) sounds pleasant to the ear. Maybe more so than De LaRocha, but it all depends on what you are aiming for; aggression, musical perfection, creativity. No point in jumping on that discussion.

I don't think it sounds silly. It's a very jazzy intro and it's one of Tim's more difficult basslines on the entire BoLA album.
Rage won't reform. It would go against Zack's beliefs. People could interpret it as "selling out" or "doing it for the money". Zack won't go through with it.

Audioslave is only so-so. They will never be as good as RATM, so I don't see why we should get our hopes up. :upset:

dr._feelgood 10-04-2005 06:17 PM

RATM + Soundgarden + crap = Audioslave

Audioslave rocks. Go see them live, you'll be blown. They may not be as good as RATM, BUT their still an awesome band very enjoyable songs. :D

Yeah, I'd probably go to see them because Timmy C. and Tom Morello are such a huge influence on me musically.

Darkness 10-04-2005 06:20 PM

Tom may be less unique with his effects in Audioslave, but man, when I saw them... he shredded it up like 8 times. It was awesome, hes a huge influence on me to.

The great thing about Tom is that he changes some of his solos live and it always sounds great.

blue3 10-04-2005 06:33 PM

Yeah. I always thought RATM and Soundgarden were awesome bands but Audioslave was just okay.. But I changed my mind after I saw them live, Audioslave rules.

Mambuto_O'Mally 10-04-2005 09:47 PM

You guys, I just realized why I was put on earth, TO REUNITE RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE!!!:thumb: It won't be easy, but I will try my best. Wish me luck.

blue3 10-04-2005 10:06 PM

Hah. Yeah, you should. Good luck.

Popup-Box 10-05-2005 02:44 AM

Still no one around with insight in RATM's use of time signatures?

Thor 10-05-2005 05:24 AM
Still no one around with insight in RATM's use of time signatures?
Well what do you want to know about them? They use time signatures other than 4/4 on occasion.

Popup-Box 10-05-2005 06:01 AM

Well, the songs that got 4/4 then... some of them tend to be very groovy. It's like there's something extra to to them. Could it be that they incorporate 4/4 SWING rhythm as opposed to standard 4/4?
