Live at Pompeii is amazing. I've heard that some kids snuck into the place where they were playing, but when they got caught they were allowed to come closer and listen.-jealousy- Careful with that axe, Eugene is freakin awesome. I want to see the Dark Side of the Moon video that they've released.
Do you guys know if Waters originally intended for The Wall to be made into a movie? Or did the director approach him after the album had been released?
I was watching the extras from The Wall DVD last night, and in the interview with Waters, I think it says that he did not intend for it to be turned into a film. I don't clearly remember, but I beleve he says something to that effect. I was in a foggy state of mind at the time, so forgive me if I'm wrong.

Any more news on when Pulse DVD will be released?

I can't wait any more.
Indeed. Syd could have been such an influence on modern music, if he hadn't suffered that kind of mental breakdown.
Syd's influence on the music scene was maximised when he inspired Roger Waters to write about him so much. There's no way psychadelic pop could have kept going strong through the 70s the way Pink Floyd's music did.

Kingofdudes 01-20-2005 11:02 PM

Meh, I think the band would have faded away if Syd stayed at control. I think it was much better for all the band members to contribute to the band (even if it was only for a few albums).

Ok guys/girl if there are any, I have a few questions. Mostly regarding The Dark Side Of The Moon. I have the 30th anniversary CD, with the prism and night sky/tree sillouette background.

Firstly, is this CD encrypted with something that won't allow it to be recognised by a computer? The CD works everywhere else, and my computer is fine as it reads every other CD I own.

Secondly, in the cover booklet, David Gilmour, Richard Wright and Roger Waters are credited with VCS3. What is this?

Thirdly, does The Making of DSOTM (DVD) only provide info on the making of the album, or does the documentary also cover a lot of what happening with Floyd between then and The Wall. I saw a really good documentary like this on TV before I was into Pink Floyd, and would like to get my hands on it.

Thanks if anyone can shed some light on this for me :)

Riva 01-21-2005 05:21 AM

It shouldn't be. Although I copied the 95 (or so) remastered edition, I doubt whether the new edition should be any different.

All thre of them played this instrument (or effects machine) during the making of the album: http://www.vintagesynth.org/index2.html

I haven't seen that documentary, but I assume it covers a lot of the emotions etc that Pink Floyd were going through on the lead up to DSOTM.

Hope that helps. :)

magicbus 01-21-2005 08:10 AM

Man I really want to get a VCS3 off ebay or something, but I can't find one anywhere.

Gilmour, nice icon, Wright rules. And Pompeii rules. On Careful With That Axe, Eugene, he does make it look really easy, like he's not even yelling. But it rules so hard on Ummagumma. The documentary only covers DSOTM, and it gives information on each song. Not what I expected, but its still alright.

How come I always miss the good conversations? :upset:

Waters intended it to be a movie. And now he's going to make it a Broadway musical... *shakes fists*

BludgeonySteve 01-21-2005 09:43 PM

Hehe, Waters supports the musical. It must be good.

Or maybe he just wants more money.

Riva 01-21-2005 10:08 PM

I'm going with option B there, RnR.

lunch998 01-21-2005 10:26 PM

Yea he probably just wants more money.

JugBandBlues 01-22-2005 05:26 PM

just wondering who do you think had the best solo career. (please dont turn in into yet another roger>gilmore or roger<gilmore fight lol) I say its roger waters.......but then again my veiw is disstorted cuz i love political lyrics so i say its a tie between him and syd

Oh, ok, I wasn't sure, but I figured I would be wrong. Does anyone know the deal with the musical of it? release date, etc..

Chaotic_Being 01-22-2005 08:15 PM
My favorite album of theirs is Animals. I guess it isn't haunting, but its dark, very serious, and the music is amazing. Great lyrics throughout the album, too.
Same here. You want haunting lyrics? Track down Come in #51, Your Time Is Up. I wouldn't necessarly call them "lyrics". More like Mur-Murs and screams. It's definitly the darkest, most horrifying song they ever did. If you cant get ahold of that, check out Careful With That Axe Eugene from Live At Pompeii. It's better than the older versions and it has more spoken word parts. It's my personal favorite of all the versions

Gilmour, in my opinion. But I haven't heard enough of any of the solo careers to be totally positive.

lunch998 01-22-2005 08:36 PM

Yea I would say Gilmour too.

BludgeonySteve 01-23-2005 12:06 PM

Yeah. Rodger Waters never really amounted to much solo. Without the rest of Pink Flod he wasn't much.

JugBandBlues 01-23-2005 12:07 PM

on a note about the solo careers i just got roger waters in the flesh live cd. comfortably numb is amazing. dont get me wrong dave is a MUCH better guitarest then this guy, but it truly is amazing

BludgeonySteve 01-23-2005 12:34 PM

The best things that Rodger did solo were concerts of Pink Floyd songs.

Dr. Jake Destructo 01-23-2005 01:02 PM
The best things that Rodger did solo were concerts of Pink Floyd songs.
Somewhat ironic.

So were there any more developments with Waters' statement about the Floyd reunion?
