Right click and then you can download. :)

Still no luck for me...
|
Are you doing it by individual song? Because the zips don't work for me.
|
I tried both. I wish the zips worked... that would be so tight. I think I started downloading shows either right at the end of the archive era, or right after Weir took the soundboards off.
I got a few upcoming shows. Bob Dylan on Election Day. Cornmeal that Friday. Maybe 2 nights of Mule in November. I'll try to catch STS9 because Lunch always talks about how good they are. But I have to admit that I did miss Lotus last week. Dylan's the only one I have tickets for but hopefully I'll hit them all up.
Saw Lotus for the first time back in October and was blown away. They put on such a great show and played every song I wanted to hear which is always a plus at concerts. Can't wait to seem them again. I would also highly recommend seeing STS9 next chance you get. I don't know how into them you are but their live performances are practically unbeatable if their playing is on and the energy is there. The atmosphere at an STS9 is really like non other. Most recently saw them up in Milwaukee and had a blast. |
I missed out on STS9 cause I have a radio show every Saturday night and had to do that instead. I miss it sometimes for shows but I missed it the week before to see Mule so I couldn't really miss it again. But they'll be back some day.
Black Crowes next week, possibly. If I finish all my papers/exams, then I'll be there. If I don't, I might be there anyways. |

Can't wait to see Bisco live for the first time. This tour is going to rage. Anyone else dig? |
Anyone got any good shows coming up?
I'm seeing Neil Young and Wilco tonight, probably some Mule at the end of the month, what do you guys have planned? Listening to a smoking Althea now from Halloween '79. First Brent show I ever listened to, thanks to Lunch's recommendation. I'll second his recommendation. The Shakedown and Estimated > Eyes are incredible. |
I'm not doing anything show-wise until late Jan, sadly.
Everybody should listen to 1966-07-16 - The Fillmore, really good and early Minglewood, IKYR, Nobody's Fault, BIODTL, Cold Rain, Baby Blue, Dancin'. |
I'm gonna see umphrey's mcgee on the 30th, would see em 31st, but i'm sixteen and it's 18 and older. I've already seen Umphrey's three times and i HIGHLY recommend them. They put on an intense show, good dancing, and fantastic if slightly showy musicianship.
|
Haha it's funny cause yesterday my brother and I were talking about Umphrey's is a band that we never listen to, but have a ton of their stuff on our computers. Honestly, I just get no emotion or anything special out there music. They're just insanely good instrumentally. I saw them live once last winter and I had a pretty good time- I was impressed by their musicianship, but nothing else. It was a pretty good show, but because there was nothing special or emotional about it or about their music for me, I can't rate them too highly. Having said that, I'd probably pay $20 or so to see them again if tickets were that cheap.
|
Yeah, Umphrey's just really doesn't do it for me. Like people have been saying, there is no doubt that they are talented individuals musically-speaking. But they are getting way too overrated in the scene. People make such a big deal about Umphrey's and I don't get it at all. Their music just gets too monotonous and boring for me.
I saw them last summer with STS9 opening and Sound Tribe just blew 'em away. Definitely will not be attending their New Years run in Chi-town. |
Funny I saw Umphrey's with STS9 in a sort of double tour where they each played a set, and I'm pretty sure every single person i've talked to said Umphrey's blew STS9 away. I don't really want to start a "MY FAVORITE BAND IS BETTAH THAN YOURS" discussion, I just like Umphrey's better, I'm actually not a fan of STS9 at all so to each their own.
Robo, do you really find nothing special or emotional about Anchor Drops, In the kitchen, Jajunk, Wife Soup, The Bottom Half, Higgins, Divisions, Nemo, or Words? If you haven't heard those songs i suggest you give them a listen, because i understand what your saying about their musicianship, but i really think they have something special about their songwriting too. And if you have heard those songs, I'll shut up, i'm just trying to get people to listen to more music. |

I agree with this. Except I personally would not pay to see them again. I'm not going to say I hated every second of their set when I saw them because I was still groovin' a bit when they played but like robo said, I just don't get that emotional draw from them that really gets you into the music. And I realize this is merely a personal opinion and obviously others can get that out of their music. But I'm going to try and keep an open mind the next time I see them because I'm sure I'll see them again eventually on some tour with another band or at a festival. Probably at Summercamp. |

They're playing 3 nights in a row at First Avenue in Minneapolis (same place I caught them last year) for $19 at the end of January so I might give them another chance then. And I did enjoy the show a lot last time, you could even say I was blown away by their musicianship, I just don't really enjoy listening to their music on my computer. But live, in the moment, it was pretty fun. |
What bands do any of you guys listen to that aren't jam bands? I ask this because anyone who goes to my school who listens to jam bands either only listens to jam bands or listens to super gangsta rap and techno and jam bands at the same time.
|
I'm not sure if this would go here, but has anyone listened to the new Flecktones Christmas album?

If I'm not taking what you said wrong, then what you're referring to here is sometimes called "Livetronica" However, it's not so much a mix of techno and jam music, but rather electronica and jam, sometimes with elements of jazz, funk, hip hop, drum and bass, etc infused into one. Some of these bands are specifically instrumental while others incorporate lyrics. Personally, I find that some of the most interesting and talented bands currently in the jam scene have been categorized as "Livetronica." Now, whether or not these bands can be specifically labeled to a single genre is up for debate, but nevertheless... Some bands affiliated with this genre that're highly worth checking out: Particle Pnuma Trio EOTO The Disco Biscuits Lotus STS9 The New Deal |
Oh sweet lord, there is a jam band thread.
I've found a reason to return to MX. Also, I've been diggin the **** out of STS9 lately. Especially their set at this year's Langerado (3/7/08). |

Especially their set at this year's Langerado (3/7/08).
Hell yeah man, Tribe is currently my favorite band. In my oppinion, by far the most unique and talented band in the jam scene. I only wish I would have been able to see them live before they came out with Peaceblaster. It's really too bad they had to make a shitty album like Peaceblaster and become obssessed with it. I can't blame them though because obviously any band is going to try and hype new material and want to play new songs and such. But I don't even really consider Peaceblaster to be STS9, it's like a completely different ****ing band. They're old stuff is so much different and infinitely better. /end Peaceblaster rant But yeah man, I just looked up the '08 Langerado set and it seemed pretty solid. Lately I've been diggin their '04 New Years set. Man would I kill to see Tribe on New Years... My friend is going to all four nights this year, lucky mother****er.:smoke: |
just heard Tea Leaf Green for the first time
holy **** theyre good |
Dude the Mike's Groove from St. Mike's '92 is so insane. Equipped with it's own vocal jam.
just heard Tea Leaf Green for the first time
holy **** theyre good
Posts like this make me happy. So does Dead tour '09 even though they're not coming to Minneapolis. I might have to go to Chicago, or fly home for the weekend. Gotta find my way to at least one of the shows. |
If I'm going to see them it will be in Chicago. That's probably the closet show to me.
|
If I go, it will also be in Chicago. Except it sucks that it's going to be at the Allstate Arena. I wonder how much tickets will run for..?
And for anyone else interested in Dead tour '09: http://www.dead.net/dead09 |
Denver for sure.
Tickets probably in the 60s range sadly. |
Denver for sure.

The next few shows I have lined up are: The Disco Biscuits/RJD2 - Jan. 24 Galactic - Feb. 6 Cornmeal - Feb. 11 Thievery Corporation - Feb. 20 Dark Star Orchestra - Feb. 26 STS9 - March 13 |
