The Ashtray Girl 11-17-2004 05:16 AM

I'm totally digging The Ordinary Boys right now - so nice and energetic!

bringiton 11-17-2004 07:51 AM

i am digging the creel commission:
Check them out on www.creelcommission.com
They are a London based band, and will be massive soon!

bringiton 11-17-2004 07:52 AM

oh the song to listen to is cigarette, it is chilled out, but they also have some great up for it tunes!

Tapeworm 11-17-2004 08:03 AM

I'm diggin on Little Birdy right now. I finally got their album Big Big Love today. Crap title, crap cover art, great music.

Zappa 11-17-2004 02:52 PM
Lightning Bolt are the best heavy band on the planet.

Try and compete.
They have limited appeal, because they're based on a gimmick. Once their music sinks in, it quickly grows sour.

Tangy zizzle 11-17-2004 03:10 PM

Nah.

Their "gimmickry" is producing better music than most other bands I know. I'd take these guys over basically all metal bands.

The Ashtray Girl 11-17-2004 03:33 PM

I've never heard of these guys, introduce me.

Tangy zizzle 11-17-2004 03:48 PM

Lightning Bolt?

Haha, they may not be your style but what the hell! They are a duo - drums and bass, but they produce the densest, heaviest and craziest music ever. Really really intense but there are still some catchy tunes underneath all the insane drumming. If you don't like heavy music these guys won't change your mind, but if you do... lookout!

I totally agree. Lightning Bolt is a terrific band defining(not necessarily starting) an entire sub-genre (Noise-Rock).
If you want to hear some Lightning Bolt go here > http://www.loadrecords.com/sound/lightningbolt_draculamountain.mp3
and to watch them & listen to a few more go here >http://www.laserbeast.com/mp3s/

I hope that's not one of their better songs :o

Seriously though, is that really a bass? I think this band could use a little bit of melody; I'm not that much into the rhythm-only thing they've got here.

Tangy zizzle 11-17-2004 04:31 PM

Yeah they're not Iron Maiden that's for sure.

Doctor D. 11-17-2004 04:35 PM

I'm currently digging:

Handsome Boy Modeling School (Thanks Zappa)
McLusky
X
Dead Kennedys
Flaming Lips
The Jesus Lizard
Buck 65
Yeah they're not Iron Maiden that's for sure.
I only like bands that are Iron Maiden.

Tangy zizzle 11-17-2004 04:40 PM

Easy on tiger.

The Ashtray Girl 11-17-2004 04:41 PM

The boy's got YD taste. (didya see what I did there? :p)

Tangy zizzle 11-17-2004 04:43 PM

Haha good work.

Zappa 11-17-2004 06:07 PM

"How long have you been listening to Lightning Bolt?" is the question here. Their music is exciting for awhile, because it is different from most other things. The problem is that none of their stuff is different from everything else they've recorded. It's all this same mess of bass and drums that sounds anything but exciting once you've gotten past the initial surprise of how "wild" they are.

yoshiman14 11-17-2004 06:20 PM

i've been diggin old skool rappers like NWA kuz of that game grand theft auto san andreas. i prolly won't be listening to them for more than 2 weeks though heh.

I've been listening to Lightning Bolt for over a year actually... I see where you're coming from, but for me personally they've easily kept my attention.

Reaganista 11-17-2004 06:43 PM

Ted Leo and the Pharmacists is awesome.

Iris 11-17-2004 06:45 PM

I've been listening to Weezer avidly these past couple of days. With lines like "shes in the air, inbetween molecules of oxygen and carbon dioxide", you can't go wrong.

Well_Respected_Man 11-17-2004 06:49 PM

I've really been diggin the twenty minute mastereice from Soft Machine "Moon In June". I think most of you would like them, they have a very original sound but don't get too far out there in their earlier releases. Still they require attention and repeated listenings to get. Thank god my dad got me into them.

Happymeal 11-17-2004 08:15 PM

Just got Blue Screen Life. Beautiful. *FA hint*

edit: RIPJoe, you doin' the next FA?

you should redownload all of their CD's.

and then you should either go to a show or buy their CD's.

they are worthy of cash.
