Primus-Master of puppets
http://s36.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=17WPLOP9DTIGW0L0N09OQ4EGUU

Jasons little bass solos were cool, but dragged on a little too long. One of the coolest parts of the seattle concert was when they played part of to live is to die.

Bazarov 07-18-2005 10:35 PM

Sick man, thanks for the Primus upload, I've never heard this.

Britton 07-18-2005 11:34 PM

Dude thats very unimpressive...so he played some one elses music...
big deal I mean I love Metallica and I love to play them, Like primus too
but come on who can't play Metallica and why does primus need to do the first minute
of MOP?

MyDarkRomeo 07-19-2005 02:58 AM

i love metallica, they are my all time fav band, my fav songs of them are

Enter Sandman
Orion
One
Four leaf Clover
And both unforgivins

im not a big fan of St Anger, but i gotta say it is sorta growin on me

hammet_ownz 07-19-2005 04:26 AM

for leaf clover. riiiiiiiiiight. nice research on that one champ ;) legend

fatbandit 07-19-2005 05:13 AM

Blah, whatchoo mean Rob's too young? I'm pretty sure he's the same age as the rest of them...?

And his backing vocals suck  Orlando Citrus Bowl - Blackened. Listen to the backing vox ;)

I really want to see him live, simply to see how he slaps with his bass that low... His solo is silly. Junglessence has clean fingerstyle parts and distorted slap. If anything, that's the wrong way around...

:smash:

hammet_ownz 07-19-2005 05:18 AM

i swear id go watch him just to watch him solo. all these awesome bassists in the polls and id go see him first cos of his stage presence and ability

Carlos Santana 07-19-2005 05:23 AM

james hetfield to fan: dude, whats your favourite song?
fan(boy) : four leaf clover man! that song is the best song on master of puppets!
-hetfield forgets about rehab and decks fanboy-
I really want to see him live, simply to see how he slaps with his bass that low... His solo is silly. Junglessence has clean fingerstyle parts and distorted slap. If anything, that's the wrong way around...
That was extremely cool live

fatbandit 07-19-2005 08:14 AM

Yes, but distorted slapping = eww...

Agreed. I've tried it before and it doesn't even sound like a note, it just sounds like random noise. Don't do it, kids. It's just not cool.

Joe 07-19-2005 08:27 AM

Well it sounded pretty cool on stage

I have 99 Metallica songs on my media player. let's see... I need one more... (at least)

I like it,it's pretty creative, I mean it's a new way of Master of Puppets, even if it is only the first minute. I don't think they were trying to show off that they can play Metallica, I mean as you said who can't. They're a pretty talented band all around.

Jev 07-19-2005 09:19 AM

DisposableHeroes 07-19-2005 09:36 AM

I got most of a Metallica gig with Mustaine from '83 on Saturday, pretty cool

RustedPieces 07-19-2005 09:40 AM

Now i gotta find it...

Jev 07-19-2005 12:06 PM

Ok I'm uploading the whole thing in a zipped folder. It's gonna take a whil and i just hope it's the right thing...

Huber 07-19-2005 12:11 PM

Me too. I've always wanted to hear/see that stuff

Schecterguitarist 07-19-2005 12:13 PM

you know wut rly pissed me off, was that VH1 special on best and worst moments in metal...idk if anyone saw it but metallica was mentioned only once in the best moments and like 10 in the worst. They sed that wen they cut their hair they threw away metal but who gives a f**k about hair!!! I dont, as long as i can feel the music and they sure as hell kept makin great music after that, Hero of the Day, Bleeding Me, The Unforgiven 2....that really pissed me off.
idk about this but is it tru that hardcore fans hate metallica??(people who listen to norma jean, the chariot, the number 12 looks like you) cuz i like harcdore but metallica is and always will be my favorite band>METAL UP UR A*S

hethamulburton 07-19-2005 12:18 PM

"Hair gets in the way, and when beer gets in it, it stinks for long time" - My uncle Kenny.

Jev 07-19-2005 12:29 PM

What so VH1 basically said that wehn they cut their hair they lost all talent?

hethamulburton 07-19-2005 12:46 PM

That's about it.

Chu 07-19-2005 12:49 PM

They lost their talent when they fired Mustaine.

Hopefully that will start something, get this thread alive again

Huber 07-19-2005 12:49 PM

Not really. It just isn't very Metal to cut your long hair off. They never said they got worse.

Is there anyone would would have actually prefered mustaine to have stayed in metallica??

I kinda divided on it, i would have loved to see what happened with him still in the band, although there would be no megadeth if he stayed in, and megadeth = :thumb:

Chu 07-19-2005 01:15 PM

Yeah true, I'm very glad he went on and formed Megadeth.
But at the same time, his and Hetfield's writing style is so good, if they stayed togetyher for at least 1 more album (Whether you consider Kill 'em All his album or not I guess) I think they could have done some awesome things.

Edit: Oh, and I prefer Mustaine to Hammett, although Hammett wrote some amazing solos on Ride The Lightning and Master of Puppets... If he could still write like that, oh my god.

Father_Jack 07-19-2005 01:19 PM

Yeah, I mean hetfield wrote most of metallicas most memorable cool riffs, and dave can write great riffs, but then again niether of them two can solo like Hammett or Friedman do/did in each thier bands.

Chu 07-19-2005 01:25 PM

I'm sure Mustaine could play most of Marty's solos?
And vise versa for Hetfield, he's quite talented, it really wouldn't surprise me.

Father_Jack 07-19-2005 01:28 PM
I'm sure Mustaine could play most of Marty's solos?

Oh yeah, i really like Hetfields slow solos, i prefer the solo MOP solo to the faster one.

As for mustaine, theres no doubt he can PLAY all the solos that Friedman wrote, but could he ever WRITE anything like the Tornado of Souls solo. Its kinda confusing, becuase on The System has Failed, i dont like Mustaines solo work at all, but the dual solo at the end of Hangar 18, both mustaines and Friedmans solos are killer. I suppose we will never know what the Hetfield-Mustaine partnership would've been like as they got older.

fatbandit 07-19-2005 01:29 PM

Flower Dance - is that concert currently uploading to YSI now?

Oh yeah, I bet Dave could play all of Marty's solos. Dave is a incrdible guitarist. IDK about James playing kirks though, maybe. I've never really heard him play lead before besides MOP and NEM and a couple of others.
