I'd be happy with anything off X-Factor that isn't the first three songs.
Yeah i agree. Except you know if we do get a blaze-era song next tour its going to be man on the edge.

Saxon Priest 06-13-2006 10:13 AM

For me The X Factor is an improvement on Fear of the Dark and No Prayer for the Dying. Bruce's performances were poor, he had to go. I stick up for Blaze for actually taking on the challenge of stepping into Bruce's shoes.

Sign of the Cross is better than anything off of Brave New World, I don't know why people like that album so much, Dance of Death is by far superior.

crag 06-13-2006 10:16 AM
I would also love to see The Unbeliever. I really, really love that song is one of my top three favourites off of the X-Factor. Another top-notch Blaze song would be Como Estais Amigos: one of the best songs on VXI.
That would be a great song to do live.

Lord Abortion 06-13-2006 10:16 AM

I really love BNW, and I'm glad that you appreciate Blaze, people who don't generally don't last long around here:)

Welcome to the Maiden thread and MX itself.

Deth 06-13-2006 10:16 AM

I like BNW more than Dance of Death. It's a more consistant album, The Nomad being the only song I don't care for. Paschendale and the title track off DoD kill, as do many of the other tracks, but for a full album I prefer BNW.

Saxon Priest 06-13-2006 10:20 AM

BNW is good but where is the third guitar and intense drumming? Dance of Death is just musically stronger, it has more depth.

Deth 06-13-2006 10:22 AM

Look no further than Dream of Mirrors and Out of the Silent Planet for intense drumming. The third guitar wasn't utilized as well as DoD, but it was the first time for them.

Saxon Priest 06-13-2006 10:26 AM

Hello?! Drum fills anyone?!

The first I think 4 or 5 tracks are excellent but the others are average, bar Fallen Angel.

Dance of Death is just a more interesting listen.

Hey what does everyone think of bruce's solo career i bought his three disk live album "alive" a few months ago and havnt listened to it all that much but ive been listening today and its really good stuff.

Josh 06-13-2006 03:26 PM

i love Tyranny of Souls, and the odd others songs of his i've heard are all great :)
The Chemical Wedding is one of my favourite songs of his.

666Ozzfan 06-13-2006 06:15 PM

I have the double disk Balls to Picasso, and the 3-disk Alive set. Favorite songs would have to be either Shoot all the Clowns, or Tears of the Dragon. On the Balls to Picasso set, Tears of the Dragon appears 3 times, each a different sound, and they are all great. The ska rhythm is really cool, and somehow seems to fit into it very well. I've learnt the acoustic version, so I've been playing that over and over, driving my flatmates insane:P

What I like about Bruce's solo stuff is that it doesn't have the same sound as Maiden, and it's a fresh sound that fits with Bruce's voice. I probably wouldn't listen to it as much if it sounded exactly like Maiden.

Shattered_Future 06-13-2006 06:17 PM

I want to pick up some solo Dickinson...what's a good jumping off point?

Easily.

I'd like to pick up some of Bruce's stuff, but the only thing I can find is Tyranny of Souls. Meh.

kiwiwors 06-13-2006 06:53 PM

lucky you! i can't find any of his albums!

The Chemical Wedding is the only one I own but it is amazing. Some of his best vocals and every song is catchy and well written. I love that album.

The second half has DoM!

I love all of Brave new world, but i do have to say i enjoy listening to dance of death more. They're both great albums, but for some reason i just like DoD a little bit more.

A tyranny of souls. No doubt about it. The album is just brilliant, but im a bit biased considering that was my first BD solo album.

I'd say Balls to Picasso, if you can get hold of the 2-disk set, as it does have some song off other albums, I believe. I haven't heard Tyranny of Souls yet, so maybe my opinion won't be very valuable to you, but I really enjoy Balls to Piccasso.

Happy hunting :thumb:

Speaking of Bruce's solo stuff, his new DVD is out next Monday is it not?

JamJar 06-14-2006 10:54 AM

Wow, that ASAP was quite terrible. Cool that I finally got to hear some of it though. I also need some Bruce stuff.

I have Tyranny of Souls and I have Chemical wedding dowloaded. Also live album.
The versions of Accident of bith, trumpets of Jericho and Chemical Wedding live are excellent.

Tears of the dragon is brilliant too.

Josh 06-14-2006 11:09 AM

i liked that A.S.A.P song, thought it was quite catchy.
i knew his sound was very different to maiden anyway.

Heh, I'm at the Fallen Angel now, I don't know which track it is, because WinRar put the songs in alphebetical order :-/

But yes, I'm liking it :) It's good.

Deth 06-14-2006 09:18 PM

That' one of my least favorite on the album. Still good though.
