SugarCoatedSour 03-12-2009 02:00 PM

Yessir, there's heaps of seminal releases from this period in the Deutsch land

jrowa001 03-12-2009 02:04 PM

Well, I would suggest E2-E4 by Manuel Gottsching, Harmonia with their first 2 albums, early Kraftwerk is an obvious suggestion, early Ash Ra Tempel as well. There is also an extremely rare album by Mobius, it was made in 1983 (essentially one of the original example of more modern style electronica). But in terms of krautrock there is plenty to suggest: Can, Amon Duul/Amon Duul II, Faust, Dom, Gila, Annexus Quame, Popol Vuh, Xhol Caravan, Kraan (Kraan Live 1975 is a great jazz-rock kraut album)

I have Yeti by Amon Duul it's the only thing labeled krautrock that I've ever enjoyed in the slightest

Although the only other bands I've heard are Can and Tangerine Dream and they bore the bejebus out of me

Yeti is great. Can is very much a trip-along band, but they have very much appeal in that they're hip jiving and are fairly eclectic. Tangerine Dream on the other hand is on another end of the spectrum

Txus 03-12-2009 02:19 PM

I like Can and Faust the most of all the Kraut I've heard. Yeti is a great album, I agree.

jrowa001 03-12-2009 02:20 PM

Phaedra by Tangerine Dream is by far my fav electonic album. for krautrock, ill go with Can's Tago Mago as my fav, although Faust and Neu! both have some great albums
