I ain't the anglos who are dropping acid and using shrooms...man, the only black guys who dropped acid were Hendrix and P-Funk.
And Arthur Lee...? |
My point stands

I think drugs can inspire you to write music (good and bad), but an artist can't rely on dropping acid or smoking pounds of marijuana just to write good music. I think being stoned just makes you think of a cool idea or perspective to write a song, it's still up to you and your skills to actually write and perform it though. I've written more good songs sober than high, but usually when I'm high I think of really good ways to improve songs I've already written.
Good luck with your acid Schyma, be careful too. So you know how I bought that friend of mine that Beatles sheet music book? Well she said she started learning Eleanor Rigby and it sounds pretty good. I'm excited now. I wish I could play keys good. |
The problem with playing stoned is that you could play a power chord, and just stand there admiring it and letting it ring out. You'll be thinking "This is amazing.". But, in the end... it's just a chord.

Exactly, that's why you still need skill. I don't even play guitar when I'm stoned anymore, it's sort of a waste of time because I can't concentrate. I just think of good ideas for songs, then when I'm sober I go and play them. Can someone explain to me what The Weight is about? My friend heard it, and asked me what it was about and I couldn't answer him. Anyone know? |

It's a song, by The Band.
|
I can only remember one line from that song, and it just sounds like he's tired and wants to go to sleep. Of course there's more to it, but uh...I dunno what.

I didn't know it had some powerful meaning. |

|

Well, I do like the Chili Peppers, Tool, and the White Stripes. I can pick out a few decent songs here and there from some of the other bands out there too. |
Yea, that's The Band - The Weight
 Did you even read the conversation above that post? |

Nope, all new music has no talent. It all sucks. |

You can pick up sarcasm. Go you. |
You can pick up sarcasm. Go you.
You know he won't understand that statement. |
You can pick up sarcasm. Go you.
At least he told us the name of the song where the lyrics you posted came from. Honestly I really had no idea what song it was until he did that. |
Did you even read the conversation above that post?
this thread has 977 pages. I wouldnt even bother. |
Well, at least he knew we spend 975 pages posting lyrics from songs we don't know. He's awfully perceptive
|
You can pick up sarcasm. Go you.
Yea, it's real easy to pick up sarcasm in blank text. Another internet prick, you sir, are truely original. |
this thread has 977 pages. I wouldnt even bother.
So, you didn't bother to read the conversation we were having, you just interupted it blindly? Where are your manners? |
So, you didn't bother to read the conversation we were having, you just interupted it blindly?
Where are your manners?
I doubt you are in any position to be giving lectures on manners. |
I hardly doubt you are in any position to be giving lectures on manners.
From what I know about our history together, I am. You interupted with a bland statement that has been said thousands times here. We were in the middle of a conversation. |
I doubt you are in any position to be giving lectures on manners.
You got what you had coming to you. |

It's not my fault that what I said is found to be commonly true. You had the option to ignore my statement. That makes it your problem. :thumb: |

that's cool, i'll leave you too ***-pals alone. enjoy. |

I. How is something "commonly" true? II. Either way it added nothing to the conversation at hand. It was counterproductive. III. We hate misinformed dipshits here, so vamoose, son of a bitch.
that's cool, i'll leave you too ***-pals alone. enjoy.
Ooh, a tired insult that brings my sexuality into question  You've now officially hit for the retard cycle. |

It's not "commonly true", because many people have different opinions on the matter. I might have ignored one of your posts, but you followed the first bad one with an equally as annoying "Led Zeppelin is the best band ever" post. |

I don't usually give lectures on English, but when something is "commonly true", it means that with many people it is true. You yourself admitted that in your previous post. And I find it quite hard to see how my favorite band possibly annoy you. Well, unless you are the typical cliche music snob. Which, my friend, is nothing to be bragging about. |
Don't bother. You won't win here.
|
It's annoying because every misinformed 14 year old feels compelled to tell everyone "LED ZEP TOTALLY RULES, DUDE!!!!!!"
|

It annoys me, and everyone else here, because ignorant people like you waste time and space by interupting a productive conversation we were having. You come and say things that have been said by many other ignorant people that wish to interupt our conversations. |
It's annoying because every misinformed 14 year old feels compelled to tell everyone "LED ZEP TOTALLY RULES, DUDE!!!!!!"
Yea... because most 14 year olds listen to Led Zeppelin, not Ja Rule. I thought you were supposed to be "informed". I really don't feel I need to defend Zeppelin. At this point, arguing with you about music would be as productive as talking to GWB about the war in Afganistan. |

No one is questioning that there are plenty of talented bands out right now, but what is in the norm right now, what is on MTV, or your local radio station... isn't. Argue all you want, I lose brain cells everytime I turn on MTV. |

I was clearly making a generalization, but what I say is "commonly true": most of the kids who get into classic rock like Led Zeppelin and maybe three or four other bands II. Listen pal, just cause I went off on you because you generally acted stupid doesn't mean I'm close-minded. I'm 100% sure I like more music than you do. |
