metalicajaymz 08-29-2006 07:56 PM

yeah I'm with LMBE on this one

chorus is good enough to convince me to keep it on when it's on the radio, but I won't be ilegally pirating the whole album.

Tangy zizzle 08-29-2006 08:05 PM

I'm gonna try (I probably won't, but I really might) and knock out a couple reviews, so atleastr one of the following will (?) be reviewed:

Black Lips - Let it Bloom
Dimmer - There My Dear
The Drones - The Millers Daughter
The Ponys - Laced With Romance
Wires on Fire - Homewrecker

metalicajaymz 08-29-2006 09:26 PM

Jay-Z - Reasonable Doubt
Boris - Pink
Beck - Midnite Vultures

very much enjoying the first two, not so much the third.

sr800bkBassist 08-29-2006 10:41 PM

i'm just starting to get into Jawbreaker.
Jet Black is such a great song.

Little Man being Erased 08-29-2006 10:43 PM

Eels - Blinking Lights and Other Revelations

At the times when I've been paying attention it's been really good.

The Great Decay 08-29-2006 10:44 PM

Antony and the Johnsons - I Am A Bird Now
Cursive - Happy Hollow

metalicajaymz 08-29-2006 10:51 PM

Reasonable Doubt still holds up 22 minutes later.

Zmev 08-29-2006 11:29 PM

Jawbreaker - Dear You

metalicajaymz 08-29-2006 11:30 PM

Reasonable Doubt is definitely starting to blow my mind. I remember when I felt this way about Midnight Marauders and played nothing but that album for like a week straight.

Little Man being Erased 08-29-2006 11:32 PM

That reminds me, I need to get some Jay-Z.

metalicajaymz 08-29-2006 11:36 PM

This is actually the only album of his that I like. The Black Album has some good singles but The Blueprint is so overrated it hurts.

Little Man being Erased 08-29-2006 11:43 PM

I think I'll probably like The Black Album, since I like DJ Dangermouse's The Grey Album, but I might start with Reasonable Doubt.

br3ad_man 08-29-2006 11:55 PM

I used to have that album on cassette. I don't know where its gone.

ATM 08-29-2006 11:59 PM

Blueprint is seriously overrated.

I have a soft spot for Volume 2 Hard Knock Life because it was one of my first albums.

Little Man being Erased 08-30-2006 02:14 AM

Violent Femmes - Violent Femmes

Kyle 08-30-2006 05:58 AM

I'm all over this Silversun Pickups album, I think I've found my favorite new band.

br3ad_man 08-30-2006 06:25 AM

I'm digging a local 'noisecore' band called Naked Burn. Their vocalist is awesome.

The Mr T Experience.

Is that the album with Biggie guesting? Cos if it is, that album owns so hard.

The Bronx - S/T
The Shins - Chutes Too Narrow
Big L - Lifestyles Ov Da Poor & Dangerous

sketchyjoe 08-30-2006 01:11 PM

The Thermals

pixiesfanyo 08-30-2006 01:17 PM

Six Organs of Admittance - Compathia

Totally his best.

mr_jackalope 08-30-2006 01:19 PM

The first half of The Sun Awakens is close for me.

mr_jackalope 08-30-2006 01:19 PM

And I've been rocking to a Mission of Burma live show for the past lil bit.

pixiesfanyo 08-30-2006 01:27 PM
The first half of The Sun Awakens is close for me.
Weird, the production on that album is too fancy for him.

knox 08-30-2006 01:32 PM

I've been digging out my old Nirvana collection and I can't stop listening to it

pixiesfanyo 08-30-2006 01:36 PM

^ I stopped listening to it three years ago.

BillCosby 08-30-2006 02:00 PM

Sam Cooke - Sam Cooke at the Copa Live
Broken Social Scene - You Forgot It in People

YDload 08-30-2006 03:01 PM

My Morning Jacket- Z

it's a little bombastic and Radiohead-y in some places, but there's a lot of different stuff going on so I can't dislike the whole thing

also why does "Off The Record" sample the theme song from Hawaii Five-O? you know what riff i'm talking about.

edit: the guitar solos in "Lay Low" = hell yeah

Bukowski 08-30-2006 04:28 PM

Nation of Ulysses - 13 Point Program...

Channel One Ulysses is one of the best things ever.

Zappa 08-30-2006 04:35 PM

So the new Wire 1977-1979 box set came in the mail from England today, but I'm in the middle of moving, so all my stereo stuff is torn down. But I assure you, that's what I'd be digging.
