magicbus 12-26-2004 04:25 PM

I opened the rest of my presents. I got Yes - Fragile, Houses of the Holy, clothes and stuff, a cell phone, and gift cards for more cds.

Jam2Me 12-26-2004 05:22 PM

I got for Xmas mostly repeats of Cds for my car:

Allman Bros. - Eat A Peach, Live At Fillmore East
Lynyrd Skynyrd - Second Helping

New ones:
Bob Dylan - Highway 61 Revisited, great CD
Derek and the Dominos - Layla and other assorted love songs, way better then I thought, I like it a lot and want to get their Fillmore one
CCR- Greatest Hits Volume 1, nice since I'm not into them a whole lot although I have Green River
Pearl Jam - Greatest Hits, pretty darn good

My mom couldn't find the Jam Band section in our local Cd store so I got none....it's labled in big letters JAM BANDS :( She also got me a Marshall Tucker Band Cd but it's the wrong one so I'll have to get their s/t she got their newest one which kinda sucks.

And speaking of like older people from the 60's/70's three teachers in my school went to Woodstock, one of them is now a deacon lol.

I got Dylan's Unplugged Album, Santana's "Divine Light" and The Band's "The Last Waltz" DVD.

Speaking of which, does anyone have the track "It Makes No Difference" that they could send me via AIM or MSN?

I wish I had it, that's one of my favorite songs of theirs, next to "The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down". How you like The Last Waltz? I watched it 9 times in the first week I discovered it. :thumb:

It's awesome. I kept playing "It Makes No Difference", "Helpless", "Further on Down the Road", the two Dylan songs, and the finale over and over. I love 'em. Robbie Robertson is amazing.

keep on phishin' 12-26-2004 05:58 PM

I bought quite a few albums today:

Frank Zappa - Freak Out!
Frank Zappa - Over-Nite Sensation
Doors - LA Woman
The Byrds - Essential Byrds
Blues Traveler - Travelers and Thieves
Widespread Panic - Jackassolantern
Tom Waits - Rain Dogs
Stevie Ray Vaughn - Couldn't Stand the Weather
and the Crossroads DVD

Oh man I know, Robbie Robertson is one of the coolest cats I've ever seen play guitar. I also love the Neil Young and Clapton songs (my two favorite songs that aren't just The Band LOL WACKY) Seriously though, I can't get over how cool Robbie is. I think I can seriously say I've watched it everyday for the last week and a half.

And to Phishin, nice cd choices man. I got the Crossroads DVD for christmas. Its awesome. :thumb:

Robertson is probably the only guitarist that night that could really keep up with Clapton, and it's pretty awesome to watch them trade solos back and forth.

BludgeonySteve 12-26-2004 06:38 PM

Yay for The Last Waltz. I watch that many times a week :D

Clapton is amazing.

Woodstock 12-26-2004 06:54 PM

I need to find this Last Waltz movie, you keep driving me crazy talking about it all the time.

BludgeonySteve 12-26-2004 06:55 PM

I thought Clapton showed up Robbie :p. But Robbie was the closest to keeping up.

gibsonlover6868 12-26-2004 07:05 PM

i agree with most things people are saying here....classic rock is still the best....even though it may be 30 years old. how can someone deny that the classics like led zeppelin, the who, the beatles, the doors, pink floyd, the guess who, eric clapton and all the others isnt good, talent filled music. all of these bands have great musicians (guitarists) and are good to listen to unless your britney spears' number 1 fan. classic rock is by far the best music out there....and the excuse that the music is old and the guys are washed up isnt a good excuse.

oh and check out the james gang if you havent already....theyve got some good stuff

Oh there's no doubt that Clapton was the best there, but Robbie is probably the only one on that stage that night who is comparative to Clapton as a guitarist.

Badmoon 12-26-2004 07:22 PM

Danko's voice sucked on "The Weight", during The Last Waltz.

I have to agree.

Do you have "It Makes No Difference" that you could send me?

No, sorry :(

There goes my best hope :(

jpj 12-26-2004 09:37 PM

I'm going to the mall tomorrow, I hope they have The Last Waltz. I can't stand all this talk about how good it is.

lechutocles 12-26-2004 10:40 PM

hello

hi
i'm from argentina, i love classic rock, but my heart is in Pink Floyd.I think that the way gilmour has to play the guitar is just perfect, he makes it speak in the most wonderful way! anyone who want to chat: lechu_sebas@hotmail.com .......i like this about sharing likes in music, specially in what is classic rock, music is all I need. "all you need is love", I think love is found in music, specially in Pnk Floyd, among other artist, classic's, etc.

great forum man!!!

hey whats up everyone im at my cousins in calgary.

we went to the chinook mall today (it's boxing day) and it was busy as hell. you couldn't even move it was so packed, but in one hour i managed to find a cd store, and i bought Neil Young and Crazy Horse - Everybody knows this is nowhere, The Doors - The Soft Parade, and Bob Dylan - Freewheelin, and Times are a Changin.

i got all four cds for 25 bucks canadian, which is very good. considering i dropped that much on one crappy country cd for my friend as well.

Badmoon 12-26-2004 11:24 PM

^Well I may catch a Bluegrass theory clinic and a Peter Rowan and Tony Rice concert.

it was funny cuz there was a wall of cds for 20 bucks each and i got all excited, after i picked a few, i noticed the next shelf had 2 cds for twenty, so grabbed from that shelf instead, AND THEN! i noticed the 3 for twenty, and i was ecstatic.
