Yeah, this year they did a CCR cover and The Lacrimosa and some bits and pieces of piano covers (Bach's Toccata and Fugue, Charlie Brown theme song etc)

I have never heard of the guest musicians coming on stage, but the musicians they have working on the tour already are high quality musicians already. And I have been lucky enough to see them twice so far with Alex Skolnick and Anna Phoebe.

I paid 56 dollars for my ticket this year, and it was well worth the money.
Supposedly, Clapton has made appearances at their shows, but I don't know how valid that claim is. Their short cover of Layla (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A1R3KSpIrqg) is pretty cool.

And yeah, I agree, TSO is full of more-than-simply-competent musicians. It's just cool for the starpower effect, I suppose.

Deth 12-07-2007 09:53 PM

I heard Mappy was a guest musician at one show and added sweet brees to all the carols.

Permanent Solution 12-07-2007 09:56 PM
They usually bust out a couple nice covers interspersed in their set, and while I've never seen this happen, guest musicians have appeared on stage with them and the crowd goes nuts for that.

I still love them on record, but their tickets are pretty cheap and you won't walk out of there feeling like you wasted your money.
I would have had to pay like $70 to see them which is the only reason I didn't go this year :(

I'll go soon though.

Pinhead13 12-07-2007 10:13 PM

YESSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!! I'm finally home from work!!!!!!!!

The version that comes here has Al Pitrelli on guitar and his wife on keys.

Atheists don't commit crimes.
Therefore, crimes are caused by atheists

How many of you use Winamp? I just updated to 5.5 and was a little annoyed at how humongous it is on my screen, but I fixed it a little bit and now it looks sharp. I'm also a big fan of the shadow pop-up at the bottom of your screen that tells you the artist/album art/etc. when a new song comes on. This will probably get really annoying when I'm working on my computer but so far it looks cool.

gmoneyguy 12-07-2007 10:46 PM

My boss downloaded it on his computer and had the same complaint.

Permanent Solution 12-07-2007 10:48 PM

I use itunes because I have an ipod.

:)/:(

pate 12-07-2007 10:50 PM

I too use iTunes.

Jom 12-07-2007 10:53 PM
I use itunes because I have an ipod.

:)/:(
Oh, same here. I typically just put the songs I want (rather than entire albums), so I just throw them into the iTunes library, sync the iPod, then go back to Winamp.

gmoneyguy 12-07-2007 10:54 PM

I really like iTunes personally.

Riva 12-07-2007 10:57 PM

I use Winamp, but I've put off upgrading to the latest version for fear of it screwing up as it always seems to do when I have the newest edition. However, if it's stable for you, I will go with it. I am sure you can turn off the song/album/artist info.

The Door Mouse 12-07-2007 10:57 PM

My speakers don't work with iTunes or something because whenever I use it it skips and stuff.

But I use foobar2000, I like it

Jom 12-07-2007 10:58 PM

Yeah, you can disable it - it's called the songticker. The new skin they have with 5.5 is kind of boring but the whole thing is aesthetically pleasing, I suppose.

EDIT: Windowshade mode is awesome. I am warming up to this new one now.

pate 12-07-2007 10:59 PM
I really like iTunes personally.
Me too, especially since I discovered that you can make the album art box bigger.

How does everybody tag their stuff?

I'm psycho, so I do song, artist, time, album (obviously) but also genre, year band formed, and record label.

gmoneyguy 12-07-2007 11:00 PM

I just make sure the artist, album, tracks, date, and album work are right.

and the EQ too.

pate 12-07-2007 11:02 PM

I don't touch the EQ.
Oh, same here. I typically just put the songs I want (rather than entire albums), so I just throw them into the iTunes library, sync the iPod, then go back to Winamp.
Oh. I never even sync my ipod anymore because it's full and i'm lazy. sadness.

I do song, artist, total songs, disc, and genre. i get other stuff when i import from CD usually though.

Deth 12-07-2007 11:03 PM

I turn everything off except for Artist, album and song title. I would like to have everything perfect, but do not want to slog through it all to fix it.

Permanent Solution 12-07-2007 11:07 PM

I usually just update tags as I play it. I shuffle by album so when I go to a new album I check tags and update anything needing fixing.

pate 12-07-2007 11:08 PM

I slog through all of it. Now after like 18 months of working on it I've almost got it all done.

Deth 12-07-2007 11:09 PM

I don't have that level of commitment unfortunately.

i am the robots 12-07-2007 11:12 PM

Same.

Tyler 12-07-2007 11:12 PM

I have my iTunes set to auto-organize all my shiznit, but I'm arduously tagging everything with as much info as possible. So while my filenames are just like 01 songtitle.mp3, I have the ID3 information chock full of anything and everything I can muster up.

Pinhead13 12-07-2007 11:21 PM

My uncle is coming to Orlando for a few days. I think I'm going to take him to the Van Halen show next year.

Permanent Solution 12-07-2007 11:23 PM

I'll be in Orlando in a few weeks!
