I would like my 22,000th post to have a home in the Alt/Indie community thread.
Hurrah.

And I think I heard somewhere that Macalester was one of the best liberal arts schools in the country.

Kurtz 02-25-2006 01:53 PM

WHOA WHOA WHOA NACHO WTF IS THAT IN YOUR AVATAR

eww

br3ad_man 02-25-2006 03:17 PM
haha, alright, well - your response was more like my roommate's :)
Haha, I'm fast becoming a Woody Allen fanboy, what do you expect?
Better than The Pianist?

City of God?

Mystic River?
I haven't seen any of those, I've been meaning to get around to The Pianist for a while.

Whatever, I'm sure I've hyped too much, but it's an amazing movie and I suggest everyone see it. Woody Allen is becoming my favourite writer/director ever.

Kurtz 02-25-2006 03:44 PM

Yeah, my old man feels the same, except he told me he was a little disappointed with the ending. He said is was still a very solid movie.

br3ad_man 02-25-2006 04:16 PM

I liked the ending, but I can see how it could have been dissapointing.

PinkFreud 02-25-2006 05:33 PM

i want to see match point very badly. i might actually go see it tonight. the only other woody allen movie i've seen is take the money and run. my dad loves it.

that stupid lamprey finger picture creeps me out every time. same with the picture of the seed pod superimposed over the breast. ugh.

I Was A Kaleidoscope 02-25-2006 08:23 PM

I just recorded what might be the worlds first death electro song, under the name Murder. Dance.
It's called Rape and Pyrotechnics.

Lyrics =
set the flowers on fire with lots of rape
yumyumyumyum now.
i'll ask you for it and i'll ask your father about rape rape rape rape rape,
like great rape.
maim the corpse, eat her brains, eat her brains again.
rape rape rape blood rape, rape rape rape blood rape.
um, yeah yeah.
set the rape alight, rubadubadub
let the battle happen now.
shove it all night, if you like, yumyumyumyum.

I wrote the lyrics after I growled them. :p

Happymeal 02-25-2006 08:27 PM

You are a sick, sick man. Sicko.

Robert Crumb 02-25-2006 09:18 PM

I like the lyrics.

In other news, I thought the lamprey finger was like a Rick James stigmata or something. If you squint and look kinda hard, it looks like a guy with those weeping willow dreads, know what I'm saying?

Glitterati 02-25-2006 09:30 PM

I went to a birthday party for my neighbor's 70th birthday tonight. Nice little dinner party, it was fun.

Daniel! 02-25-2006 09:38 PM

I haven't left the house all day because I got poison oak on my face and its starting to look pretty disgusting. For some reason it hasn't been very itchy though.

Zmev 02-25-2006 10:32 PM

Band practice and then saw pink panther with my woman, it was pretty funny.

Kurtz 02-26-2006 12:03 AM

I saw Running Scared, it was pretty good.

Then I chilled at my friend's place with some other buds. Twas fun, as usual.

PinkFreud 02-26-2006 12:12 AM

just saw match point. great movie. one of my favorites in recent memory.

br3ad_man 02-26-2006 12:17 AM

I just watched Apocalypse Now. Shame I had to watch the Redux version, but great film anyway.

Kurtz 02-26-2006 12:34 AM
I just watched Apocalypse Now. Shame I had to watch the Redux version, but great film anyway.
Yeah, the whole French plantation part was redundant.

Still one of my favorites. Air Cav scene = omfg

br3ad_man 02-26-2006 12:37 AM

The cinematography, particularly the lighting was just beautiful. I actually noticed a lot of similarities in cinematography and music to Blade Runner.

Not to mention the both are incredibly badass.

YDload 02-26-2006 01:17 AM

i had a long day today so i'm resting now instead of havin fun :(

BJ_maddog 02-26-2006 01:18 AM

Blade Runner = my favourite movie

I listen to the soundtrack every night to go to sleep.

Radiobass81 02-26-2006 08:06 AM

I just watched Fargo for the first time. It's good. The Coen brothers really are growing on me.

I STARTED watching Gangs of New York, but I just couldn't keep watching. Bleh.

Scarlett Johansson is going to make, like, 7 bad movies this year. :upset:

Radiobass81 02-26-2006 08:19 AM

Is it weird that I prefer "Plans" to "Transatlanticism"?

:(

JonM 02-26-2006 10:15 AM

Yeah, I think that's kinda weird, but it's okay. I keep forgetting that Death Cab has made pretty much nothing but good music and I'm just letting my snobbery and elitism get in the way of listening to them as much as I did junior year of high school.

How do you make a cold go away really fast?

Radiobass81 02-26-2006 11:05 AM

Not a clue. I'm horrible with that kind of stuff.

And the problem I have with Transatlanticism is that it gets too monotonous after the 5th song. It has some nice tracks (New Year :)), but Plans is a bit more solid, atleast to me.

Yeah, I'm an idiot.

xon 02-26-2006 12:52 PM

tomorrow is karnival (at least in germany) and i dont have to go to school tomorrow.
actually i hate it but my friends and I do some :chug: .

Robert Crumb 02-26-2006 01:04 PM

Explain to me the concept of "karnival" because I'm too lazy to google it.

xon 02-26-2006 01:11 PM

actually it is pretty ridiclous
everybody puts on something like a costume and trucks are driving through the city and some gay people who are on these trucks throw candy on the street and kids pick them up(this is the main idea of it)

Mattfanatic 02-26-2006 01:23 PM

i'm on febuary vacation all this week

Glitterati 02-26-2006 01:28 PM

I remember Karnival....we did this little celebration for that when I was in grade six.
link to recording kthx
It was taking ages to upload, so I'll leave it while I go to school, and then straight when I come back, I'll post it here.

I've got some interest from this girl who wants to do beats and growling, this guy that wants to synth, and this guy from Wisconsin. This has been a lot more successful than I thought it would be.

"I'm happy, I was expecting the usual Cannibal Corpse growl, this is like a demented sea hag."

"Hahaha, I like it! It's unique."

I laughed at the demented sea hag thing.

Zmev 02-26-2006 06:10 PM
For those still interested - my new show for this week is now up! http://untitled.asymm.net
Ive been meaning to check out stuff by Robert Pollard, so thanks for that.

also about the movie, it wasnt on torrentspy so if youd like to send it to me accross the internet thatd be great!

edit: your show could have benefitted without all the zombie music.

When you get the chance, I highly suggest you watch it. It's good.

But schoolwork first, of course.

Radiobass81 02-26-2006 07:11 PM

I've got a week full of math work I have yet to do...

Zmev 02-26-2006 08:13 PM

I don't miss math one bit.

Happymeal 02-26-2006 08:56 PM
