The Pot will be the single
If so, good ol' controverisal Tool.

EDIT: And the 23 thing? It must be fake. Remember the fake listing of 'Aldaraia' had a song called 23.

Reywas 03-12-2006 11:23 AM

it's plausible

Kage 03-12-2006 11:27 AM

I'm surprised there isn't a song called Real Eyes Realize Real Lies.

Leave it to Tool fans to get upset over track names.

I'm guessing the 'Hofmann' mentioned in the LK title is the infamous person responsible for the invention of LSD.

Rosetta Stoned would obviously have something to do with a cryptic meaning.

The rest aren't as apparent right now.

lucky luciano 03-12-2006 05:41 PM

I was kinda hoping they would have some guest musicians on this album but I guess not.

I'm happy because there aren't any.

Spiritofmosa 03-12-2006 11:55 PM

i'm listening to maynard feat deftones in passenger

mudvayne420 03-13-2006 12:03 AM

hey guys i figured out something pretty intresting if you play lateralus, eon blue apocalypse, and faaip de oiad in order its cool. in like about 24 seconds in eon blue apocalypse, its sounds like the bass ending to lateralus and if you listen really closely in eon blue, in the end you'll hear like static then if you have like cool edit pro or adobe audition then just put in faaip de oiad when it sounds like something started is when eon ends. its cool, but i like the eon lateralus thing.

don't say a thing just give it a listen then tell me you don't hear the similarities, maybe these songs were meant to be together.

Because Tool is SO cryptic, I mean, everything they do is all shrouded in mystery and OMG so intellectual.

Well most of their song titles are cryptic and have no direct meaning. I think most people take pleasure in having another factor to the music. It's fun trying to find out what it all means.

we changed the album name to.... "

C, better already

Shadius 03-13-2006 08:24 AM

I think a self titled would be cool. Maybe as Tool's last album though. There's something definitive and final about it.

Spiritofmosa 03-13-2006 08:32 AM

if the art's not printed yet.. they could change the title

nowitzki 03-13-2006 08:34 AM

I saw an interview with Mike Portnoy during the making of Octavarium, and he was saying how he is really careful not to release details such as album and track titles/lengths, or too much about the music at an early stage. At the time I didn't really see why this was a big deal, but the Tool business has made it perfectly clear. Fans read WAY too much into it, and its absolutely laughable how people are writing off the album, and seem disapointed without hearing a single second of music. After all thats all that really matters.

I just see my tastes have changed to something a bit more technical. Still top 10 none-the-less

No one with half a brain is commenting on the music though.

I know i'm certainly not commenting on the music, or how bad the album will be. Most of are displaying our disappointment if this is the real tracklist, and at how bad the track names are.

What's wrong with that? They're mostly bad track names. The music should be brilliant, but tracknames and album name are all part of the package.

incubliss 03-13-2006 08:47 AM

Well, apparently this is a sample someone ripped from a listening party.

Shadius 03-13-2006 08:49 AM

If that's true, it did sound like a rather sweet 11 seconds.

Industrial sounding, with a weird effect on the drums, I imagine? It could be part of the album, I suppose.

kurrpt 03-13-2006 08:53 AM

i tend to shy away from ancient anecdotes

Shadius 03-13-2006 08:59 AM

Haha, yeah, of course the track names are nowhere near as important as the music itself, but people have every right to complain about crappy track names. I mean, if I went into the store and picked up a Tool album called.. I don't know... "Suck on my Tool", or something, it'd be funny, but it takes away from the whole experience of some hopefully amazing, classic music.

nowitzki 03-13-2006 09:03 AM

 Suck On My Tool, that would be awesome.

hmm heavy

nowitzki 03-13-2006 09:13 AM

I do personally think though, the name of a song/album makes absolutely no difference to my enjoyment of a piece of music. I mean, if Hooker with a penis wasn't already a song, and was on that tracklist, people would think that was a really stupid name. Which it is, yet is still an awesome song.

incubliss 03-13-2006 09:50 AM

^

No, you're right. But if the song name is cool, then an already cool song will be even better according to certain people. People do worry about the tracklist/album name. If there was a Tool song, that was officially called "Razorblade Love" then you'd probably have a lot of fans getting pretty pissed at such a stupid name.

Tool wouldn't ever name something that bad, but you can see where i'm going with it.

Shadius 03-13-2006 10:37 AM

Hoooker With a Penis fits the song, and it's sarcastic, it's cynical, it's graphic/witty; it's Tool ten years ago.

Tool, since Lateralus seemed to mature a lot, and those new tracknames don't really reflect that completely, IMO. Rosetta Stoned and Lost Keys off the top of my head sounding dumb.

The music itself won't suffer for the tracknames, of course, and as I say, I'm not saying that, I'm just saying track names and album titles are part of the package, and we all have a right to comment on them.

Rosetta Stoned and Lost Keys just so arn't Tool. There's nothing dark about them, or graphic, or spiritual, or interesting.

Danish 03-13-2006 11:20 AM

That did sound pretty heavy, but Tool likes to play a really heavy intro/bridge and go soft for the rest of the song. It sounds good for a shit 11 second recording.

I'm pretty excited about this album, as I'm sure every other Tool fan is. I was looking for it on slsk but I couldn't find it.

incubliss 03-13-2006 11:43 AM
Rosetta Stoned and Lost Keys just so arn't Tool. There's nothing dark about them, or graphic, or spiritual, or interesting.
Do you know what they mean? No. So there's no point in commenting on them until you get a context.

That sample was really heavy, and i've just learnt to play Ticks & Leeches over the past couple of days, so i'm pretty excited by this. I'm in a 'heavy' for Tool mood. I'm sure they'll have a really fine mix of soft and hard, like you said. That's what completes the package for me.
