Haha.

But I didn't really like Aenima on the first couple listens that much either. Stinkfist, Eulogy, Hooker were the ones I liked, but I took me a little while to really enjoy songs like H., Pushit, and Third Eye.

As I've said before, it's Lateralus > Aenima > Undertow > Opiate for me.
I doubt that I will ever like it, since it bores the hell out of me and I hate the vocals and the length of the song. At least I tried.

And Jake was right, even though I doubt that I even mentioned it, but I do like Sober.

Adam Jones is GOD 09-01-2005 01:34 PM

Sober is such a good track, perfect for any tool addition to a mixtape.

Now say you like 4 degrees and im happy

Yeah, some people I know just say the band is crap but haven't even heard a single song. You actually took the time (and are still doing so) to see if you like the band's sound.

I like 4 Degrees quite a bit except for the chorus. Something about it never really appealed to me.

Prince of Darkness 09-01-2005 01:37 PM

Undertow only works for me when I wana be pumped up for action!

Adam Jones is GOD 09-01-2005 01:38 PM

I still hate how Undertow is a lot quieter than 99% of my record collection. Gets annoying when im adjusting the volume constantly

dUSK 09-01-2005 01:41 PM
Daul Discs? Don't really think I know what you mean....like 2 discs?
I think he means Dual Layer Discs. Like those DVD's that can hold up to 8 Gig.

Good to see your enjoying Undertow more 'Peer. I can understand you not enjoying Aenima upon the first listen. I didn't particularly either, although tracks like Stinkfist and Aenema really stood out to me. I discarded Tool for two years after that, and then I heard Lateralus. I fell in love with it, and after a month of so of listening to it, I went back and listened to Aenima. It really made me appreciate some of the longer songs a lot more, and I found myself beginning to 'get' the epic nature of their music.

superpeer 09-01-2005 01:45 PM

Yeah, undertow isn't exactly an outstanding album, I'd say it's okay. But at least it has some enjoyable parts and even a song I like.

And 4 degrees is an okay song, Sober is still the best.

I'd probably give Undertow 3/5 and I gave Aenima 1.5/5 :), so it's twice as good! *gasp*

BlindWriting 09-01-2005 01:47 PM
Daul Discs? Don't really think I know what you mean....like 2 discs?
A DualDisc is a disc that has a regular CD side, for your CD player, and then if you flip it over and put it in your DVD player, you get some extras.

Darkness 09-01-2005 01:56 PM

You may like Opiate to SuperPeer.

Second'd. We'll get him hooked one way or another...

Dried Muffin Remnants 09-01-2005 02:18 PM

I guarantee Superpeer will like Cold and Ugly.

they should remaster that sh!t dont ya think....

i guess they'll probably wait a few years for that to take.

I was going to play some TOoL last nite on my Jackson. I couldnt fukking remember how to play Part of Me

i felt pathetic

dUSK 09-01-2005 02:23 PM

Sober is a very accessible song. From what I've noticed, most Tool songs take a little while to grow on your. Sober is one of those songs you can like immediately, but eventually you realise that although it's a great introductory song, there are better songs on the album.

Care to point out why you don't like it?

Dude3 09-01-2005 02:28 PM

Undertow was okay. Well, it was good, but nothing compared to their later releases. I really like the song "Intolerance".

The whole song, or just any of it?

I tend to forget the length of the outro, mainly due to dozing off while playing it

repcak 09-01-2005 02:30 PM

right now i listen to Undertow... hm... ok... at this second i was writing this, my batteries went out... on the song 'sober' ... ARGH

ok, anyway; i think tool had written better songs than sober. only cause it was released as a single doesn't mean that its good too! look at NIN: they released 'only' and 'thtf' as single -> the 2 worst songs on the whole WT-record.

and i wanna hear some 20min long songs from tool!!! :D

 Was that meant to be a subtle stab at the song?

haha just the intro, which really means the entire song...

The way my brain works, for some reason, is you have to jump start the bitch, then she runs fine. If you cant get her started, no dice

im not sure why i referred to my brain or memory as a "she"

Dont get me wrong, love the song, but playing it does drag on a bit

repcak 09-01-2005 02:34 PM

@Kage (Offtopic): you're a big david lynch fan, right? cause i was watching 'dune' on the cassette (from my sister) and after 1 1/2 the cassette ended (not enough space) and i wanted to know, how is the film... good enough to watch it till end? or can you summarise me the end?!

I'll put it this way: Lynch has soooo much better work than Dune. I mean, if you like that kind of thing, it's good. But the movie was taken out of his hands at the end, so he wanted to have his name taken off of it. So that tells you something about it.

But you're right, I'm a huge David Lynch fan.

kurrpt 09-01-2005 02:38 PM

i thought the outro was just

".... a part of me <END>"

or are you talking about the whole screaming deally before the actual <end>

Im talking about playing the same riff over and over and over and over and... until the end

i saw Mulholland drive (your avatar :thumb: ) two times and i love this film to hell. so i was suprised that david lynch made a science-fiction movie...
but now i understand why.

can you recommend me some further films? Eraserhead has to be good, when you call yourself after it.

yea, its quite boring, but to honest with you, most of all TOoL is like that on guitar. Yes, of course there are songs that are more complex blah blah, but really hes all about the overall sound and FX

Red Cow 09-01-2005 02:48 PM

Hey just wondering if at around 4min 1sec during Sober can anyone eles hear some one saying hey or shouting, turn up real loud and listen real close, some one please confirm im not going insane.

Amazing! I'm glad you liked Mulholland Drive, it is my favorite movie of all time. I've seen it so many times, and it never gets old :D

Eraserhead is amazing, but be ready for it to be very weird. It's quite a lot different (and older) than M Dr, but still just as good. It's very surreal. I also recommend Blue Velvet, and, my personal second favorite, Lost Highway, which I know you'll like.

Good luck finding them, though. Unless, I can't remember, but don't you live in Germany? There's a good DVD of Lost Highway that's only available in Germany.
