hethamulburton, if you mean the song Master of Puppets is about slavery, I'd have to say, I dissagree, that song is about drugs.
hethamulburton, if you mean the song Master of Puppets is about slavery, I'd have to say, I dissagree, that song is about drugs.
yea i have to agree |
But, in a way it is a song about slavery. Because it's a person who is a slave to his drug addiction, when his addiction orders him to do the drugs he does it. I heard that this song was aimed at Mustaine, can anyone confirm this?

ok i got this down now so what does everybody think of and justice for all
it is my over all favorite :thumb: |
AJFA is an awesome album. Many of the songs on it are classics.
AJFA is an awesome album. Many of the songs on it are classics.
the first four albums of metallica are classics. And about Eye of the Beholder, i think it is one of the finnest lyrical song in the metallica history. |
metallica sucks
metallica sucks
Wow, how about you keep the idiot bashing that has no proof of how they "suck" out of this thread? |
metallica sucks
Metallica isn't for 8 year olds. :thumb: |
metallica sucks
 That actually made me lol :upset: |

Presumably a song about suicide, it was written by Metallica after their equipment was stolen in early '84 and they had to start all over again. More specifically, James Hetfield wrote the lyrics in response to one of his amps being stolen. Not only was this amp his favorite, but it was also the first amp he ever owned so it had a lot of sentimental value to him. The song is about losing everything and wondering if it is worth going on. (thanks, Brad - La Crosse, WI)
This was written by group members James Hetfield, Lars Ulrich, Kirk Hammett, and Cliff Burton. Kirk Hammett improvised while playing the final solo. He just thought about very depressing things while playing. (thanks, Nick - Paramus, NJ, for above 2) A very meaningful song to former Bassist Jason Newsted, it was the last song he performed on tour with his former band members before going it alone and eventually picking up with Ozzy Osbourne. (thanks, Dane - Lamar, CO)

All from SongFacts.
Metallica isn't for 8 year olds.
I liked I Disappear when I was 8. |
thanks for the help.im sure this question has been asked before but what metallica solo would appeal to me as a new metallica fan (i got into them after listening to fade to black rather than their new stuff which is imo disappointing) besides from "one" and "fade to black" since i have already learnt those.
|
Master Of Puppets is a renowned solo. Blackened and God That Failed are my favorties. Also, Dyer's Eve is blazing fast and pretty nice.
|
Gocaps.. Since you can at least play the solo from Seek & Destroy.. Could you tell me how you go with fingering on it?
I'm sure I could do it, but I always screw up jumping from string to string, I just need to find a better way for 'fretting'(?) it, lol I suffer stubby fingers ^_^; |
Metallica isn't for 8 year olds. :thumb:
Well it is definately a metal band for younger audiences in many ways |
Yeah, if a little one is gonna like a metal band, chances are it will be Metallica. They're the metal band that people that don't know shit about metal know about. They are to metal what Stephen King is to modern macabre literature, more or less.
Metallica is the band all twelve year old kids listen to.
|
so what's everyone think of Kill 'Em All? weird, most fans seem to like AJFA or even Black Album more than Kill 'Em All, but i think KEA has the most attitude, and keeps hitting you hard throughout the whole album
|
I love Kill 'Em All, I like it better than AJFA and Black. It is one of my favorites all- time. Musically, it's not as complex as RTL or MOP, as most songs use the chugging riff thing they are famous for. But song like Hit The Lights, Four Horsemen, Seek And Destroy, and Metal Militia are now classics. Others like Whiplash Anestasia No Remorse and Motorbreath contain great riffs, and Phantom Lord too. Overall, I think though it seems to all lead back to the chugging riffs, this is the album they explored the most with their influences. Motorbreath and Phantom Lord have a punk feel to them. And the clean break in Four Horsemen has a definite Skynyrd feel. I don't know why thhis album is so underrated. Many of today's metal stars cite this as one of the albums that got them into metal in the first place. Note: I said "one of" not "the album"- I don't want any crap for that.
I forgot to mention Jump In The Fire, it's a decent song, but not anything special or to drool over. And whoever said Metallica isn't for 8 year olds, doesn't understand that after Hells Bells was over Master of Puppets came on, and we continued on the way home from the hospital, on August like 3 or 4, 1988, a few days after I was born, they were making sure I was good to go. After that came Judas with Breaking the Law, and Guns with Paradise City. I loved the radio stations of back then. |
Does any1 know any more info on the new 2006 album?
|
It's new... and it'll be out in 2006, and hopefully Lars lets Kirk solo.
New material has been added to the Vault section of livemetallica.com! ^^ actual quote from site. |

Here guys check this out- a 55 minute song about Napster
btw- not the actual song, just news on it. http://bbspot.com/News/2000/6/download_this.html New info on album: NEW ALBUM PLANS Robert Trujillo recently spoke to The Tennessean about the group's upcoming studio album, which the band hope to begin recording in February. "We already have over 50 hours of song ideas recorded," he said. "There's some speed, some of it is kind of raw and funky, most of it has that heavy groove which I think is a stand-out ingredient for Metallica. . . . James is throwin' down some killer riffs . . . and whatever it is man, it's gonna be heavy. We're getting really excited about doing an album as this team." Trujillo also commented on Metallica's decision to bring out a number of rarely performed classics for their "Madly in Anger With the World" tour, which is scheduled to hit Nashville Thursday (Nov. 11). ''We're pulling out songs that haven't been played in 20 years, some that haven't been played at all," Trujillo said, gushing about "getting the guys to play songs like 'Dyers Eve' or 'Disposable Heroes', kind of fueling that." ''We'll basically learn it on the spot and go out and actually play the darn thing. . . . You'll get this amazing rendition of a particular song that hadn't been played, or you'll get a borderline mess. But that's the fun and the spontaneity of what we're doing now — and the new magic of this band." Today's Metallica redresses a lot of what people have thought about the band: The reckless party atmosphere that earned the band the nickname "Alcoholica" early on is a return-to-form you certainly won't see on this tour. "Everybody's pretty healthy these days," Trujillo said with a laugh. "As you get older, you change your lifestyle a bit; we obviously can't be drinking all night and then get up there and try to throw down. . . . We have a chiropractor, believe it or not, who travels with us and whips us back into shape so we can get onstage and hold it down."
Well it is definately a metal band for younger audiences in many ways
That wasn't the point. |
That wasn't the point.
Then what was your point, you made it clear that they weren't for younger audiences. |
Then what was your point, you made it clear that they weren't for younger audiences.
The guy said Metallica sucks and I replied. If you still dont get it, forget about it. |
The new Metallica sucks, but with the new parental advisory stuff, wouldn't you say Metallica is more for older people than 8, like teens and young adults.
Not arguing, just saying. |
The new Metallica sucks
I prefer the new Metallica over new music. (like Teh KIllers, Bloc Party ect) |
Well yea I see your point, but I don't listen to the radio much except when a local station plays a 1 hour segment dedicated to bands of the 70's and 80's, like Hair, Heavy Metal, and Classic Rock. They wanna extend it to 2 hours so I made up like 20 email addresses and sent them a go ahead on it thing. They play Kill Em All stuff, and I was amazed I never heard that stuff on the radio before.
|
I wish i knew a radio station like that, Once i get a digital radio i can listen to planet rock, that plays some good tunes.
|
We have XM satelte too, they have a pretty good station called The Boneyard, they play a lot of great bands, you've never heard on commercial radio. I haven't looked yet for one that plays metal like Slayer and Metallica yet, and haven't heard it on Boneyard either... the search will continue.
|
A few pages back rusted pieces gave a link to a metallica radio station.
|
Yea they said they had new material for it.
