Broken Arrow 02-15-2005 04:31 PM

The classic rock station seems to be failing me, after they played the Smashing Pumpkins and INXS on it.

Oh well Flower Power rules, Santana, Jimi Hendrix and Sly & the Family Stone.

RockAndRoll 02-15-2005 04:32 PM

Flower Power doesn't work for me :(

ledpoisoning27 02-15-2005 04:33 PM
There's a big difference between cars and music. A car runs at high performance or low performance whether or not you like it. Music is 100% subjective. You're really reaching here.
What about The Cars. :p
Flower Power doesn't work for me :(
Really?

Maybe just leave it for awhile, it wasn't working for me either at the start.

IAJP 02-15-2005 04:35 PM

I like a lot of Flower Power-era rock, Cream, Hendrix, some Zeppelin, The Who,
It's all good stuff

ATM 02-15-2005 04:36 PM

Does anyone have a mp3 of Peter Green's Oh Well?

Acctually I was refering to a radio station but it's all good.

ATM 02-15-2005 04:38 PM
I must say I also really don't like John Mayer.
Agreed. He does have potential tho.

Badmoon 02-15-2005 04:39 PM

Zeppelin, flower power...nah.

IAJP 02-15-2005 04:40 PM
Zeppelin, flower power...nah.
Celebration Day, I find is quite Flower Power,
I.E: Happy, upbeat, etc.

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 02-15-2005 04:42 PM

Zeppelin ended the "Flower Power" era....:(

Badmoon 02-15-2005 04:43 PM

One song doesn't really do it. Plus having a reputation for being involved with black magic kind of ruins it for them. :p

Next chance I get I'm going to buy a Lenard Cohen and Parliament album.

IAJP 02-15-2005 04:44 PM

That's true,
A lot of great Flower Power bands are unknown, people like Love, who I really like the music.

Broken Arrow 02-15-2005 04:44 PM
Zeppelin ended the "Flower Power" era....:(
Yeah but I agree that they fit into it.

Another one is Misty Mountain Hop, it fits Flower Power.

ledpoisoning27 02-15-2005 04:44 PM

Led Zeppelin III had some songs that could be considered flower power. I've just recently gotten into 'flower power' type music, Badmoon could you recommend, me i good Grateful Dead album.

Badmoon 02-15-2005 04:46 PM

Does anyone get annoyed by hippie vegatarians? Yea, they suck.

 That's true,
meh, tommorow I'm going into town and getting some Progressive stuff,
I was thinking:
Yes-Close To The Edge,
Rush-Hemispheres.
From what I've heard of Yes (which is a few songs :upset: ) I think they're pretty good, if a little self indulgent

Badmoon 02-15-2005 04:47 PM
Badmoon could you recommend, me i good Grateful Dead album.
Do you have anything by them? If not get either Workingman's Dead or American Beuty. They'll be easy to find.

Yea, that's really rare. Not even The Band really were.

If I were you I'd start off with getting a live one.
The 'Dead are O.K in the studio, but live they blow your mind, songs like "Dark Star" are classic examples of jamming and improvising on stage.

Badmoon 02-15-2005 04:49 PM

Vegetarian > Vegan

Meat > all of them

But I do find it wrong to go hunting on any occasion, unless it is impossible for you to afford food.

I say get a studio album. If you appreciate their studio efforts than the live material will be much more of a treat.

They are at every college. I swear. :upset:

Badmoon 02-15-2005 04:51 PM

Don't give me that ****. Their self title is practically all based upon the concept of America, supposably.

And I'm not saying I hate hippies, because would you be surprised to hear I was one? No (I'm not really one), plus meat owns.

That's true, but to be honest, I prefer a lot of their live stuff,
my favourite studio track is The Golden Road..
Which is pretty short, I actually still regret getting a best of the 'Dead, they deserve a lot more really,

i hate hippies who don't eat meat because all animals eat meat and you need it to live for the zinc or iron or whatever in it. i suck at science. :upset:

Badmoon 02-15-2005 04:55 PM

O.K., there's a loose one in the bunch.

Old memory: The first Grateful Dead song I recall hearing was "I Know You Rider".

Badmoon 02-15-2005 04:57 PM

Broken Arrow 02-15-2005 04:58 PM

Old Memory:I was lying on the floor listening to the radio, Legends Of Classic Rock came on. It was Neil Young. The Song "Down By The River" followed by "Heart of Gold" and alot of other songs. The next Day I bought EBKTIN and Harvest.

First Time I ever heard Neil.

Badmoon 02-15-2005 04:59 PM

Well...first time you knew you heard Neil Young.

Broken Arrow 02-15-2005 05:00 PM

Yeah I learned that the hard way...I have so many ****e compilations that tell me nothing about the music in the inside cover.

The first Grateful Dead song I heard was "Touch of Grey" and I liked it a lot because I was in my 80's phase.

I thankfully dont have many compilations. Uh Best of the Grateful Dead, Best Of Rush, Best Of Eric Burdon and the Animals, A Deep Purple Compliation. I think thats pretty much it.

Illmatic 02-15-2005 05:05 PM

I remember watching Keith Moon's and Jimi Hendrix's "Behind the Music" specials back to back when I was like, 11 or 12. That's what first got me into rock.

ledpoisoning27 02-15-2005 05:08 PM

i got a lot of compilations but most of them i have sold or given away because i ended up buy their LPs, one compiliation i have and will keep that i can think of right now is the Very Best of Cream.
