the only effects ive used is very mild distortion on vocals in the background on one song
unless you count layered vocals here and there |
turn down the reverb geez. otherwise pretty good
@brent |
dude chill im jk
sorry. im a n00b. cant tell when people are trollin |
the only effects ive used is very mild distortion on vocals in the background on one song
unless you count layered vocals here and there
yeah im sure you don't add compression
turn down the reverb geez. otherwise pretty good @brent
if you listen to the song, the dude (internet friend) has a lot of reverb on his vocals it fits the song, but yeah I like this vocal eq I got now I think, will need some feedback from others |
your vocals sound like they're clipping
|
they are yeah
it will be fixed for cgm, my guitarist will know what to do to get rid of it i added compression and it sounds better now |
um do they clip before all the effects? cause there's no way to fix that sans rerecording them
|
i dont know, i dont have my raw takes anymore
it'll be fixed either way for official recordings, this was just for fun |
gonna try reason
|
i downloaded it once but didnt really like the interface
you can do all kinds of shit w/ it though. like generative music |
yeah im sure you don't add compression
yeah im sure a dismissive comment will change the meaning of "no i don't use effects on my voice" |
eq and compression are standard effects used for vocals fathead
|
gonna try reason
what settings did u use for the compression
|
i downloaded it once but didnt really like the interface

there sure is some sort of different sound coming out now
|
eq and compression are standard effects used for vocals fathead
the only eq you should really be putting on it is a high pass filter |
hey brent you have the body of a 12 year old girl how does that feel
|
the only eq you should really be putting on it is a high pass filter
nah |
eq and compression are standard effects used for vocals fathead
stating something really obvious doesn't mean that i use effects like seriously, how hard is this for you to grasp? p.s. you very obviously use reverb as a crutch |
obv im the best vocalist here
|
i like ur vox
me and my buddy r recording nao, he just finished tracking the 80 layers of guitar bout to do sum vox |
nah
depends on the kind of vocals but if the take / voice is good you really don't need eq |
also my skramz are pretty epic guys
|
Mappy, are you ever gonna record new Father material?
|
stating something really obvious doesn't mean that i use effects
like seriously, how hard is this for you to grasp? p.s. you very obviously use reverb as a crutch
i only use reverb because I haven't been able to eq my vocals to get them louder and stand out in the mix its cool because I finally made an eq last night that has minimal reverb. so stfu fatty remember: my stuff is diy, not studio shit |

turn up your vocals you clot
are you recording with a webcam mic or something? |
lmao gorgon its not as simple as that idiot
|
I like lots of reverb. I think it fits the track very well too, the vocals just aren't settled into the mix very well and the reverb is kind of awkward here. Your highs are good, Brent. Your lows could use a bit more power, though. I have the same problem, but the other way around. I can't reach those typical bm highs.
|
lmao gorgon its not as simple as that idiot
isnt it though? you turn it up and the other tracks down idk are you recording on an iphone or something |
yeah I know what you mean yuri, It was hard for me to mix in a mastered vocal track into an already mastered song, i think it came out ok but im obviously still working on all that.
i'm positive my vocal eq i made sounds better with less reverb, but there will be parts where there will be reverbed parts like on that cover. I even made a vocoder eq that sounds really good too, I'm stoked to record vocals as for range, I think it's rare for someone to have really good high/low range. Mappy does but I hate his highs so it's moot |
isnt it though? you turn it up and the other tracks down idk are you recording on an iphone or something
no. you can only turn up vocals so loud until they start peaking. that still doesn't do shit in a mix where everything else has to be near peaking. (drums, bass, guitar) basically you want your music to sound loud and evenly mix, and it can only be clearly made with various effects. eq, compression, reverb, and others are the norm |
did you just copy that out of an audio production for dummies book brent
|
im giving them the simple to understand reason why it's not simple as turning everything up
basically if you listen to my drifting icon ep MY PROJECT from two years ago, you can see what happens when no compression, eq, or anything is added and everything is turned the fuck up http://www.box.com/shared/xu0yof0qmi doesn't sound too good does it, even if it was recorded with a better mic it would still not be that great |
why do drums/bass/guitar need to be near peaking?
:S if you want it loud just turn up the amp, what the fuck? |

reproduce some pink and yellow with compression and eq
|
Brent that cover, obv I can't compare it to the original 'cause I haven't heard it but your vocals sounded weird. Well no not weird, just...I dunno, the timing sounded off? At least it sounded off to me. Other than that your vocals are good. Like Yuri said though, the lows could be stronger, but I've said that many a time.
