goodbyesoberday 04-18-2004 11:32 AM

i thought the question was whats everyones favourite metallica solo, not whats the hardest solo?

SlaveToTheGrind 04-18-2004 11:38 AM

Fuel is one of my least favourite metallica song's ever
Fuel rocks. And strangely reminds me of Motorhead in style.

btoto 04-18-2004 02:04 PM

we can't choose a favourite solo. there are too much of them. all of the albums have specific accents in solos.

like Kill em all has got a mad shredding, RTL is more melodic. MOP also melodic, AJFA too fast. 1991-1997 albums got lots of bluesy stuff. so it's not that easy to pick up one.

for me actually it's kill em all solos. they're so sick ! + they're hard. i can't play any solo of that album except last 4 horsemen solo. (probably it's because i suck !)

nevertheless, it's still hard to decide

Fuel does indeed Rock. One of the first Metallica songs I heard and still one of my favourites :thumb:

I know I'm probably a bit slow but...
Are Metallica religious? Ive noticed religious themes in alot of their songs, but then there's The God that Failed which is hardly religious. I'd say they were sort of anti-religion, they believe that a God exists but they don't like it, or something like that. I can't really word it properly. Wot do you guys think?

UnknowN Doodl3.2 04-18-2004 03:04 PM

Ok, look guys, my computer broke down for now but I still had to visit these forums so I'm using my dads computer right now. Thats why I'm unknown doodl3.2 whenI'm actually Unknown doodl3. I didn't remember my password either.

lots of people write songs about religion. Few of them are religious. Metalica are not.

ANARCHYIA 04-18-2004 03:29 PM

i love metallica especially there first three cd's which were along with cliff burton. and after jason newsted left they just fell down hill so fast it isnt even funny

Photophobic 04-18-2004 03:30 PM

would it be wrong to use my joke about originality again at this point?

Burdcheese 04-18-2004 03:46 PM
would it be wrong to use my joke about originality again at this point?
Ask yourself; would it be original to do so?

Photophobic 04-18-2004 03:59 PM

deep.

I wasn't into metal when they came out, what kind of reaction did Load/Reload get from the fans and the press when they came out?

Burdcheese 04-18-2004 04:06 PM
deep.
I know, wasn't it just :p
I wasn't into metal when they came out, what kind of reaction did Load/Reload get from the fans and the press when they came out?
I wasn't either.
I heard that they were greeted with utter contempt and that the band was forced to offer an apology to their fans (I'm not 100% sure if thats true - it doesn't really sound like the kind of thing they'd do  )

But you said that the solo in NEM was proof that James was better than Kirk

sgrevs 04-18-2004 07:56 PM

i was just listenin 2 fade to black on acoustic sounds so fkn awesome nd its live nd "master of puppets" nd "for whom the bell tolls" r the gr8est m'llica songs and as i was readin thru these i realised how good the blackened solo really is

GorbAcheV 04-18-2004 08:44 PM

IMO ...And Justice for All is one of, or Metallica's best album, but what would have become of it if Cliff wouldn't have died. Do you think that we would have gotten great songs like Blackened, One, To Live is to Die(not so sure about that one since its a tribute to him) or Dyers Eve?

Lateralias 04-18-2004 08:52 PM

someone needs to learn english  (to sgrevs)

My favorite solo is probably One solo or To Live Is To Die solo

Sam. 04-18-2004 08:54 PM

I have to say that one of my favourite solo's is the one in Harvester of Sorrow, just the short one, it sounds so good and fits the context of the song so well.

BTW just wondering if anyone else is from Australia (BDO was an awesome show).

trey1234 04-18-2004 09:36 PM

Obviously I didnt read all the pages but Creeping Death has to be the greatest Metallica song ever

RoCk_As_A_rELiGiOn 04-18-2004 10:11 PM

my favourite solo is "one" the 2nd or 3rd solo, the fast one

Gernm18 04-19-2004 12:21 AM

that's kinda scary we wouldnt have blackened if cliff was alive cos newsted made a big part of that song( i think the main riff but i'm not sure)

to live is to die had some riffs made by cliff

DimebagDarrell 04-19-2004 02:36 AM
to live is to die had some riffs made by cliff
i think the whole song was written by cliff even those few lyrics that james says near the end

metdeth maiden 04-19-2004 04:38 AM

i like master of puppets, damge inc(eho doesn`t) in new metallica i like fuel unamed feelng and the whole reload album

xtreme_skatah 04-19-2004 08:36 PM

Does Cliff play FFWF with his fingers? It's seems it's way to fast for fingers to move at that speed on the open E string.
