My library doesn't have very much music at all, it's pretty much just classical stuff. They do have a lot of books and it's a very nice two-story building. I might just go today and pick up something.
For great rock stuff, the most stuff I've seen at a single site is rockabilia.com, although I've never bought anything from there, they have a crapload of stuff from a lot of bands. |

Rockabilia.com is weird you can't really order stuff from it. but labyrintherock.com is like exactly the same. I've ordered 5 shirts from there |
Yeah, a lot of people really seem to love Great Gig..., so I wasn't going to say I'm not a fan, but I've just never been able to appreciate it. The womans vocals get right to me, but in the the absolute worst way possible. They almost make me cringe in places. Otherwise it's not a bad song, but that one downfall really destroys it for me.
Yeah I am one of those who love Great Gig In The Sky; I enjoy it so much because of how different it is to almost anything before it.
'And you run and you run to catch up with the sun, but it's sinking Racing around to come up behind you again The sun is the same in a relative way, but you're older Shorter of breath and one day closer to death'
Yeah those lyrics are just awesome ... Most modern day bands need to take a lesson from Floyd, especially in the lyrics department ... EDIT: I just bought this shirt off ukrockshop ... Eh well I think it looks cool :p |
My library's great, I got the Minor Threat DVD there.
I buy my DVD's. I use the library for books and some older albums. |
Alright, just a quick unofficial poll to get the thread moving again.
Who do you prefer vocally? Roger or David? Discuss. (I'm a Roger man btw) |

Racing around to come up behind you again The sun is the same in a relative way, but you're older Shorter of breath and one day closer to death'
That's pretty much my favourite lyric ever, Roger rules. Vocally I think I prefer Dave for his high and airy voice, like on most of The Division Bell album, and bits and peices of Momentary lapse (like Learning to Fly) |
Dave rocks on vocals, Roger rocks on lyrics. That's the way I see it.
|
I obviously think David has a much better singing voice, but I've always liked the really strong character in Roger's. It's full of emotion. I love it when they tag-team too. Like when David sings the first part of Hey You, then Roger screams the final verse in complete desperation.
Tickles me no end! |
Or the classic duo in Comfortably Numb.
Dogs is another great example. |
And The Thin Ice (I think!). I think it's the same in SOYCD too.
Roger gives a great closer in Eclipse aswell. |
Anyone listened to that Dark Side Of The Moon redone by women?
|
Anyone listened to that Dark Side Of The Moon redone by women?
No...but that sounds interesting. |
I love when Gilmour and Wright get together for vocals ala Echoes...
Those vocal harmonies are so soothing... |
Yeah Echoes really takes me to another place. Everything about it is so soothing and calm that it makes me feel like I'm just drifting through space. It's crazy. And that's without drugs.

Don't even get me started when drugs are involved. Echoes is truly one of the best songs of the 20th century. I love it so much... |
Echoes usually makes me feel like I'm underwater on smoke rides at night. It's so cool.
|
You guys know what's really funny? Try to talking to a non-Pink Floyd fan about what happens when you listen to Floyd. It's hilarious. They'll think you're completely insane. Maybe we are.

But I totally understand what Lunch is saying about Echoes. I think it has to do with the submarine sounds that open the song, and all of the imagery of the sea with the lyrics... |
Oh yeah I can see it. Us Pink Floyd fans can all understand each other. It's just the non-fans.
When I listen to Echoes I imagine that I'm lying down peacefully on a raft in the middle of a lake at dawn without a care in the world. Everything is just so peaceful and I imagine myself just lying there floating along. It's kind of weird. I guess the whole whale intercourse thing makes us think of the water too. |
I'm just hearing music without any strange side effects
But does anybody knows somehtign about the 3rd soundtrack PF made but is very hard to get and very limited, it goed Careful with that axe eugene but with an other name and a cooler version of it(I heard) it's a studio album not live |
Do you mean Zabriskie Point? Or was that the movie that "More" was done for?
I think the other Careful With That Axe is called "Come In Number 51, Your Time Is Up." I have that one. |
Yup! That's the one! it is very hard to find, and I heard it is very good
|
I think Livewired/Stonefree/Broken Arrow/Ben has it in some form.
|
I have the 4 songs Floyd did for it. I don't have the whole soundtrack though. The Grateful Dead and maybe another band was on it. Floyd only did four songs on it.

Yeah me saw, would be fun to hear sometimes
|
I'm totally in love with Animals at the moment it's such an amazing album. Especially dogs, i love the way that it (and most floyd for that matter) so perfectly progresses and moves forward instead of a repeated chord progression for every single verse/chorus/verse/chorus etc like alot of the bands out there today seem to do.
I can't get over that guitar solo after: "And in the end you'll pack up, fly down south, hide your head in the sand; Just another, sad old man; Dying of cancer alone" Which repeats at the end. Lyrics are Genious too :) . |
I bought P.U.L.S.E today and that makes me happy =].
|
Backtracking a tiny bit; listening to Echoes makes me feel like I'm in space, then in a waterfall, then in space again. Hurrah for that.
Jake: Your life is complete now, yes? |
I first got a cassette copy of The Wall when I was about 14 and at that point I hadn't really expanded myself musically. That album blew my head clean off and since then I've become an addict. It's eight years later and I still listen to them with the same awe as I did back then. Really love Atom Heart Mother, especially Alan's Psychedelic Breakfast, the crunching and pouring of the cereal kills me.
|
I got Live At Pompeii from the library earlier
|
I watched that today. It's fantastic!
|
I've seen bits of it in class before, but not the whole thing.
I've seen bits of it in class before, but not the whole thing.
It is really, really good. Echoes (part one) is the best song on it. |
grrr
/his Live at Pompeii DVD doesn't work anymore |
grr
/doesn't have Live At Pompeii or Pulse But I do have a birthday coming up in 3 weeks... |
Pink Floyd are on my favorite bands of all time. They were so awesome.
Wish You Were Here, Dark Side Of The Moon, The Wall and Animals are great. |
I finally got Dark Side of the Moon.
I love it. |
