just let me say in advance that a lot of people will probably disagree with me on this but im kind of hypocritical on this so here i go....
AC/DC is a good band in the sense that they play catchy tunes that you can hear for the first time and sing along to or tap your foot to. but.... Thats because there songs a simple but good. AC/DC isnt all that great of musicians they've won people over simplicity and catchyness
It doesn't have to be complicated to be great music. And dont forget they've influenced so many people in doing this simple stuff so you cant say they've done anything wrong. |
Well done for quoting something 94 pages ago. As for the new album, it will not be a double, Johnson said that as a joke because there was so much material going around.
AC/DC is a pioneer of rock and Roll ther best cd is High Way To Hell and Ac/Dc Live
ac/dc live is one of the best cds ever seeing as how ac/dc is one of few bands that actually gets better live
One of the few?
Black Sabbath Led Zeppelin(big difference here) Deep Purple Iron Maiden Pink Floyd Metallica The Who Jimi Hendrix Rainbow KISS plus many more I cant think of at the moment. |
If You Want Blood (You've Got It) Liv rips AC/DC Live to pieces in my opinion. Awesome record, once Angus explodes into Riff Raff you don't really look back.
Ive heard Riff Raff from that album, incredible I tells ya.
personally i think that if you want blood is a brilliant album however i dont like it that much i prefer watching let there be rock cos i think back then with Bon they were more of a show band live.
I have If you Want Blood, and I also have Alive! by KISS, which is another great live album. A lot of people say the greatest live album. But I think If you want Blood is better. You can tell that it wasn't recorded in some arena, so the crowd gets a lot more into it.

Definatly agreed, thats why its my favourite AC/DC album. Ever single track, is a killer. |

That album is so incredible. IFWB >>>>>>>>>>>> AC/DC Live |
Yeah, its just so raw and the sound is so punching and powerful. The tracks all seem superior on If You Want Blood than on their respective albums. There isn't a single song that I skip when listening to it.
I think its a shame that Angus does all his solos except for Let There Be Rock, the same on both studio and live versions of song, theres just something great about improv.
Yeah definately, improvisation is just awesome to watch and listen to, you can feel the creative energy. I have grown to accept that he plays all his solo's the same. If I want to listen to improvisation which I really like there are plenty of other bands, especially Jam Bands and other Classic Rock groups.
Yes I know. Tony Iommi of Sabbath and Ritchie Blackmore of Deep Purple both do alot of improvisation, in studio and live, but even sometimes Iommi does it the same, I always feel let down by that. I find it hard that he can learn it, I just can't learn solos i'm always improvising. I actually tried to write one once, it ended up as improv and ill never be able to repeat it again.
Yeah, I've got a similar problem when playing guitar, but I think it comes down to patience and persistence, I can't be bothered learning a solo note for note and it feels better playing something you are making up on the spot whether it be original material or solo's in cover songs.
That's true I was listening to Highway to Hell today and playing along. Then the solo came up and I just improvised, it was quick, easy and a hell of a lot more fun than that time I treid to learn a Sabbath solo note for note.
Yeah exactly, its sweet to get your own groove going, and improvisation comes in very handy for creating your own music as I have found out by experimenting in various keys.
Experimenting in various keys? Do you mean like changing keys mid solo? I did that once, I stayed on the same fret but changed to differennt pentatonic shapes so effectively I was changing key, It sounded like utter crap but it was fun.
Personally, I like the fact that he tends to play the solo's that he recorded for the track.
If we are doing a cover, and the solo sounds easy enough to play, I'll learn it. Gets the song spot on... Where as, with our own tracks we've written, I'll improvise. |
How long have you guys played the guitar for?

Nah, not mid solo, I've still got a fair way to go to become an accomplished guitar player. I downloaded this CD of Blues in different keys and using the pentatonic shapes just solo over the music. Keys like A, D and G, nothing special. |
Oh yeah Ive got something similair, at the moment Im using it for ear training.
Yeah thats basically what I've been doing, they come in very handy for when I get tired of singing and playing songs for my upcoming HSC exams, which I am getting marked on for vocals, its a relief just to experiment a bit.
We are getting off topic here but explain to me what HSC actually is. Im from Queensland so I do QCS.
I wish Angus would improv more. Whenever he does, it's great, but he definitly doesn't do it enough.
Although hes a great guitarist his improv really isnt too good, thats maybe why he writes stuff note for note.
We are getting off topic here but explain to me what HSC actually is. Im from Queensland so I do QCS.
The HSC is the Higher School Certificate, from my understanding it's pretty much the equivalent of the QCS. It is assessment tasks with different weightings from Year 11 to the end of Year 12 which go towards the final mark. The bulk of the marks are gained in the Trial HSC and actual HSC, the actual HSC exams begin next at the beginning of next term. The marks go towards a UAI, if you want to get into University you'll need that. For me, I just want to go to art school, I'm not trying all that hard really, I just want to finish. |
Completely different, your school system Is better Ive heard. Our QCS(which Ive done) is basically an IQ test, it is **** and doesnt test anyones ability at school whatsoever.
Arr ok, I read in the newspaper the QCS is better than the HSC, doesn't seem like it, but really and honestly its all in the same league, bit of a joke. It's not what the real world is about, exams and so forth. Now rock'n'roll, thats something with a bit of substance to it.
They should just make it the same across all states.
Yeah, it would save confusion when going for a job or university in another state.
do any of yous know if acdc is bringing out another cd anytime soon, or a world tour, any info will be greatly appreciated.

They do, Queensland is the only one not to do it. Anyway back to MUCH more important things, Has anyone got Angus' Signature Guitar? |
I can only dream of an Angus signature SG.
Love everything about it, especially the plate. |
How long have you guys played the guitar for?
