Swans' Young God EP is so painfully slow and heavy
I remember listening to this when i was like 14 and having no idea what to make of it |
I need to stop lurking this thread and posting more.
|

hm idk as Jaundice pointed out they had different stages Kraftwerk was the original EBM outfit and they're best known for that kind of material but their earlier sound is a lot different Kristallo, Vom Himmel Hoch, and Ruckzuck are my favorites from the early period http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1GaYdT2oVmw http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PRLe2pvuLdI http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XIu2Fr2nIhI but their best EBM type album is almost doubtlessly Computer World |
Industrial suggestions plz
Deutsche Amerikanische Freundschaft - Der Mussolini
heil
Kraftwerk was the original EBM outfit
synthpop |
yes but they coined the term EBM
it originally referred to a Kraftwerk invention where they could dance around and make sounds with a special suit |

the meaning of the term changed
ƒaggot |
Synthpop adequately describes the Kraftwerk I have heard.
I have never heard anybody refer to them as an EBM group before, except in the sense they were influential to the bands that developed the genre. Perhaps they coined the term, but as you said it has grown beyond its original context (I can't find any information on this suit, please point me to it). |

Am currently listening to Kevin Drumm's Imperial Horizon. Heil.
|
ok so
yeah Kraftwerk invented the term Electronic Body Music, while Front 242 recycled it and applied it to its modern meaning. Computer World is Kraftwerk's worst release, in my opinion. By that time they were mindlessly synthpoppy. For their best synth-oriented record get Trans-Europse Express, with Man Machine being second. Up until Autobahn tho they did three albums that were all sort of free-form, ambient stuff with proto-industrial moments. Chris is right, Vom Himmel Hoch is probably their finest moment Their three best albums are probably Trans-Europe Express, Kraftwerk 1 and Radioactivity. Haz, you should probably pick up those two, there's a lot of proto-industrial elements |
i'm sure i'll enjoy them, you just know how slow I am getting to things :p
