Anyone down for a YIM Jam?

Thonk 10-19-2006 08:25 PM

Josh posts here like...once a month.

Thank God. :)

I am too lazy to bring all of my **** upstairs, but I will sit here and listen. :p

BenJammin 10-19-2006 08:26 PM

So, opinions. I'm looking to save money on my custom this summer, so instead of paying, like $300 for a good pre-amp, if I went passive with a master volume, blend, a tone knob for each pup (there'll be 2), and a series/parallel switch for each one... do you think that'll give me enough tonal variation, or is any of that redundant?

Spaceman Spiff 10-19-2006 08:27 PM

I don't want to be the only one playing... I'm not that good to keep people interested.

I am too embarrassed to play solo, but I can do just fine playing in a band setting. :upset:

I'd join, but I don't know how to monitor myself when plugging into the mic jack (I always plug in using the line in).

Spaceman Spiff 10-19-2006 08:30 PM

What's to be embarassed about?

If you want, I'll give it a shot and play a bit for you. I'd just prefer if a bunch of people were in on it and were playing, that way it'll last longer and be more fun/interesting.

Bass-->Amp input-->Amp Lineout-->Comp
Bass-->Amp input-->Amp Lineout-->Comp
That's not gonna fly because all of my stuff is in another room. I was just going to bring out my bass.

Yeah, that is the same thing I do, so I don't ever monitor myself. I just go with it.
Bass-->Amp input-->Amp Lineout-->Comp
That is what I do, but I always use to run it through the headphone out jack. Oh well

So do I.

I don't understand what you're saying.

Spaceman Spiff 10-19-2006 08:33 PM

Oh... I just turn my speakers up really loud to hear myself. :p

Well, when you plug in to the line-in, the audio doesn't show up in a YIM jam.

At least, it never did before.

But when you plug into the mic jack, it shows up, but I can't hear myself (I can acoustically, but not the actual sound that's happening in the jam).

There is everything to be embarrassed about. :p

I just think I lack to the solo playing abilities, but yeah. I am not much of just playing solo.
