i want to get into Iron Maiden, so..........what album should I start off? iam a big Metallica fan and I might see them in the ACC in Toronto on Oct. 6 2004.

you cant go wrong with any maiden albums, but try and avoid 'The X Factor' and 'Virtual XI', they are relavtively good albums, but with a weaker singer, at least avoid until you become an avid fan!!
Try Somewhere in Time (this was the first maiden album to incorporate synths and keyboards, which is something they stuck with for a few albums) Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son - Widely thouht of as being the 'best' or at least better album, again, some of the song feel more radio friendly 'can i play with madness' 'the clariovet' and 'the evil that men do' Number of the beast - i recommend this one, its whrn bruce dickinson first joined and the maiden sound really got its feet off the floor, classics like 'number of the beast' 'hallowed be thy name' and 'run to the hills' brave new world - one of the best maiden albums, after 4 somewhat more disenchanted efforts, this is an excellent album, sounds so fresh, and will beat the rap out of any nu-metal act around today dance of death - thier latest offering (2004), and an excellent one at that, you may have been dissapointed with 'St Anger', but this is truly a sensational album, they havent strayed from their roots and original sound one bit, not quite a masterpeice, possibly for one below par track 'gates of tommorow' Then there are the two live albums, which i any every maiden fan will recommed, 'Live after Death' (widely though of as being the best live metal album EVER!!) and 'Rock In Rio' - two supurb albums which any maiden fan could not live without!! |
don't forget peice of mind and powerslave, they are great albums aswell.
|
i like Gates Of Tommorow
EDIT:to the mercenary |
k thanks guy, i always hearing that maiden is great but i always want to know whats the right one to get......so i will remember the albums that you named to me.
|
all you need to do is avoid virtual XI and X Factorm they are the only bad ones, the rest are all good. but the best are the ones with bruce singing, so the earlier ones arent quite up the godlike standards that involve bruce.
|
er, there are more live albums than that
Live After Death Maiden England A Real Live One A Real Dead One Live At Donnington (my personal favourite) Rock In Rio Beast Over Hammersmith (part of Eddie's Archives) BBC Sessions (part of Eddie's Archives) Live At The Rainbow (Video Only) Maiden Japan (EP) Live!! + One (the first live album, with the original guitarist duo of Murray and Dennis Straton) Behind The Iron Curtain (Video Only) Raising Hell (Video/DVD Only) |
Nah, I think Rock in Rio is the best. I've got the dvd for it and it rules. Wish I went, but Brazil is too far for a music concert...
|
so iam guess that virtual XI and X Factorm are as bad as Load, Reload and St.Anger from Metallica?
|
well they aren't bad, they just aren't as good.
|
I finally got 7th Son of a 7th Son recently.... What an amazing album! It's such a different sound for them, very cool. I'd say that it, Powerslave, and Brave New World are my favorites.
|
Cool, 7th son is my joint favourite with Peice of Mind.
|
my favs are NOTB and powerslave
|
NoTb and POM are my absolute favorites. But like the lot of you. I love all of maidens albums. :)
|
i love all the ones that i have.... *is still missing three studio albums*
btw, what EP did maiden release, except no more lies and maiden japan? |
I got Visions of the beast yesterday, very cool especially the whole eddy intro and camp chaos anime videos. But I noticed that Blaze stands like hes riding a horse, which i find kinda disturbing.
as for EP thing I only thought there was those two. |
yeh, i can only think of those too...
<3 the visions of the beast intro. btw: on both discs play video 6 three times in a row |
Who got to listen to Iron Maiden in England (in the suburbs of Hammersmith may i add!!) oh thats right, Frail did :)
|
buh? when? WHA?
|
A little help pleaze.
I'm a mad Iron Maiden fan, but I need to know something.
Before Bruce Dickinson, how many other singers were in the band? and what were they called? Thanking you. :) |
Paul Di'Anno.
I don't know if they had any singers before him, but he recorded Iron Maiden and Killers, then left before Number of the Beast, which was the first album Bruce appeared on. |
Aaah, ok, I thought they had someone else, thanks anyway.
|
Fave albums.
I've got DoD, Fear Of The Dark, Live After Death, Brave New World and some others and they all truely kick ***, I love all the songs I've heard so far.
