Any of you guys know/like Ostinato? I just got an album, and it's ****ing amazing!

Nepenthe 06-15-2007 12:37 PM

Chasing The Form is the only Ostinato I have. Since when did you get all punch drunk in love over generic post rock? There's not really anything special about them.

jrowa001 06-15-2007 12:41 PM

i really like the Laura that was sent out in the DU a couple days ago

Nepenthe 06-15-2007 12:42 PM

I Hope has some of the most beautiful vocals of all time, off of Radio Swan Is Down.

Txus 06-15-2007 12:46 PM

@Anthony: :( I don't know, haha. I really like them, I guess my music taste sucks lately...but what the ****.

Nepenthe 06-15-2007 12:49 PM

Nah, just sounds like a post rock craze. Ostinato isn't bad by any means, just nothing special. You heard The Spheres? They're kind of like a better version of them.

Speaking of generic post rock, I just got this album by As The Poets Affirm with like the coolest name ever - I Want To Tell My Heart To You But I Cannot Say English.

Kage 06-15-2007 12:50 PM

Generic post rock is good sometimes. But other times I want to ****ing kill anyone in a generic pr band.

Nepenthe 06-15-2007 12:52 PM

If I'm in a real big post rock mood, I can listen to generic stuff and really enjoy it. But unless I really want to hear that, I can't stand it. I'm just really tired of all these bands that sound exactly like Caspian.

Txus 06-15-2007 12:53 PM

Haha, nice name.

And I have heard of The Shperes but not their music, I'll look into them later. I have a really big waiting list right now, and I haven't even unzipped like 15 albums :(

Nepenthe 06-15-2007 12:55 PM

I've got like 300 unlistened albums on my computer haha. I like staying about 200 or so albums ahead of myself. I like having options.

Txus 06-15-2007 12:58 PM

I'm about to reach 125 gigs man, I need to delete some stuff that I never listen to.

Nepenthe 06-15-2007 12:59 PM

I was right around that before my hd crashed, a little bit less. I'm a little bit stricter on what I download now, not so many blind downloads and stuff, so I've only got about 40 now.

Txus 06-15-2007 01:00 PM

I rarely blind download tbqh.

Nepenthe 06-15-2007 01:05 PM

I do all the time. It's fun. Not nearly as much as I used to though.

Kage 06-15-2007 01:38 PM

I'm getting a new 500 GB hard drive soon. Oh, glory!

Kage 06-15-2007 08:22 PM

Jacob, thanks for the Pirate Ship Quintet link btw. Downloading now.

Dr. Jake Destructo 06-15-2007 08:35 PM

No problem dude, I'm like the king of fwding links that other people have sent me. Haley Joel Osmond would love me.

Eliminator 06-15-2007 08:46 PM

Ephemeral 06-15-2007 10:41 PM

Ah I love Caspian. I know generic post rock can be hard to listen to at times, but you get that in any genre that you explore really.

Nepenthe 06-16-2007 01:38 AM

That's true enough. But with post rock people tend to act like those Caspian sounding bands are revolutionary just because they are post rock.

Apocalyptic Raids 06-17-2007 09:38 AM

Tortoise anyone? I got a hold of TNT and it's really quite excellent. When I was looking into the band and the label Post Rock kept coming up I was a little apprehensive since I'm not mad on Post Rock, but I'm glad I checked them out. Very glad.

Kage 06-17-2007 09:40 AM

Tortoise is definitely essential. They have a totally unique sound, and are one of the first post rock bands that ever picked up any momentum.

Zebra 06-17-2007 10:20 AM

Get Millions... next because it's their best.

ATM 06-17-2007 10:22 AM

Tortoise are great, get the s/t next if you like TNT.

Eliminator 06-17-2007 10:41 AM

no get millions

ATM 06-17-2007 10:54 AM

And then the s/t.

Nepenthe 06-17-2007 11:37 AM

I Set My Face To The Hillside is probably the greatest post rock song of all time.
